  • After half a day of Bento Box (Japanese lunch) deliveries around Amsterdam [ see methamerenvork.nl ] on a winter day using the comfort mode, heating on, fast driving style.
112km done and back at 6% SoC.
Connecting to the beautiful alpitronic hypercharger HPC at Fastned Amsterdam for a 6% to 100% charge, because I just couldn't believe the numbers.
I had to give back the van after this session and I never expected to be able to charge up fully.
This Fastned station is found on Chargemap: chargemap.com/...

Hey Felix, nice charging review! Do you have any plan converting it into a camper van? Super curious to know if it has such potential

Clearly has such potential! As it's not mine I can't convert this one but I'm sure it will be done with many electric vans these years. Personally I'd look for a lighter one because this one is so huge that it's also consuming quite a lot and that is WITHOUT building it into a mobile house ;-) but if you really don't need long distance and love SIZE then, yes this can be ideal. Plus Amazon bought plenty, so in a few years second hand should be incredibly easy to find!

What's the cost of these fast kWh 's ? I also wonder what the effect is of the fast charging on the batt's lifecycle..

fair question(s) and the effect on battery life would be a little hard to predict today but I'd expect Mercedes to keep safety buffers big enough for the battery to outlast the van. Fast charging can be cheap if you check out my blog: www.electricfelix.com/blog/cheaper-fast-charging-2022-edition

That's a joke! You are happy with only 88 or 90 kilowatts? The Tesla's can charge at 170 or even more.

Sure and it drops to 60 when the battery is around 70%. You should only care about the average charging speed not the peak. Not to mention tesla doesn’t has a van to buy.

Hey Alex, Wow thats a charging curve I want to see on every EV. ONLY explanation is a huge buffer. Any idea how big the gros battery pack is? Must be around 60. Its makes no sence the higher the SoC the higher charge speed. A real 30 min promise. ✌
the range is only good for city deliveries, going between major cities and need 30min charge , no one wil do , because time is money, big money. Ever seen a delivery driver not been in a rush 🙈? They do 300km a day. So 1 hour lost.
    But for anynother purpose ✌
Have you test with a cold battery?
Amazing build location. Its not just a charge location , its looks kind a pretty too. What city ?
But but the dashboard is All ready so outdated and a minimum of information. For a MB, my ford transit 2016 is : great looking 😛.

Alex? Felix! I doubt the battery has a huge buffer, I was told there's battery heating and cooling built in. Which is pretty much the only explanation for this curve. You're right, it's a city delivery vehicle. Local roads are okay but highways are not recommended. 350Wh/km is realistic in winter at 100km/h.
This is Fastned next to Amsterdam, I put the link in the video description too: chargemap.com/gepland-fastned-tafelbergweg-4b-amsterdam.html
The dashboard indeed makes you feel like years back. Very bare.

@@electricfelix the charging is really fantastic :) I was so impressed Wow!
Did you test it on longer trip like two sequence charges and issues with rapidgating, but seeing this I doubt there might be some serious

@@electricwhirl5175 Unfortunately I didn't have time to go far when I had the eSprinter so a 2nd/3rd session I did not test now. But looking at this charging curve (and it being winter) I have high expectations. Mercedes told me the battery pack has heating and cooling so I might try again on a hot summer day but I expect the same results!

@@electricfelix i'm just wondering why they put so small pack, even jumpy comes with 75kwh and is smaller

    • @electricfelix
      @electricfelix  3 года назад

@@electricwhirl5175 it’s because Amazon ordered 8000 vans and don’t need range because they’re only doing local deliveries
