Smart ideas! We've made grates out of chicken wire for potted plants, but they're not foolproof either. We do have several milk crates, though. Hmm.

I have a friend that made grates/lids out of chicken wire and it worked really well too.

My wild chickens will figure it out, those suckers are super smart 😂, Not even the roof top garden I'm planning is safe, that's why I'm going to make sure only bees can get in.

I saw your cage over the passion fruit...chicken menace!

@OldSchoolPrepper and one got to a few leaves 🍃, but didn't do that much damage, once the passion fruit reaches the top of the run roof, I could remove the cage, but I will have to put rocks to stop them from digging.

Cats work wonders. As does fake owls moved around every other day. And fake snakes. Main drawback of the fake snakes is it will draw the attention of the cats

we have barn cats around but i also have the dog...the dog keeps out the deer and most of the bunnies so...I'll have to deal with the damn birds and squirrels. I've tried owls but they dont' work great...we also have real ones nesting in the small forest by the house.
