My goodness this style of writing was taught in schools from grade 3 onwards. I'm 63, so not sure what era or country you are from. This isn't even calligraphy, just script. Get hold of a book which teaches writing styles. Place a piece of plastic or laminated clear sheet over the page and practice writing in script. It is so satisfing.
I love to watch how fluid your calligraphy is, I definitely need more practice to achieve that, thank you for sharing your talent with me, you inspire me!!! Blessings!!!!
The main difference between the Radiant and Hydrus line, beside the colours is how they are made and with that, the light-fastness. The Hydrus line is made with actual pigments (just like regular watercolours) and therefore are more light-fast (i.e. will not fade when exposed to light), while the Radiant line is made with synthetic dyes, which allows that line to be more transparent and brighter, but also means that the colours will fade much faster. Something to note for people who want to create things with these paints that are supposed to be displayed. For those who are asking for alternatives to the Radiant line because they can't get a hold of it, you might want to look into either Pebeo Colorex or Talens Ecoline lines of paints. They are the same type of product (waterbased, transparent, dye based, bright colours in liquid form) and are more widely available at least in Europe. Talens is rather affordable where I live (Germany) at 2,50€ a bottle (30ml), but they don't seem to have the same pigmentation (for a lack of a better word) that Pebeo (5€ for 45ml, also available in sets of 10 20ml bottles for around 25€) does. The Pebeo colours just get darker and richer than the Talens, but both work fine and get really bright and vibrant.
when I saw the thumbnail of the video I thought you painted a paper and cut the words with a die cut or something like that.must say your handwriting is very good.love your videos.
I thoroughly enjoyed watching you create the watercolor lettering. You make it look so easy! I think you should have a give away and create another for one of your lucky followers! Just beautiful - how can we learn to do such beautiful calligraphy?
I just wanted to mention that one can easily turn up saturation and/or vibrancy (plus remove gray - white slider in levels) in Photoshop before printing. The image should come out pretty close to what you see on screen as long as the monitor and printer are calibrated - the difference being that light is coming from the screen, but on paper light is reflecting. (If you don't have them calibrated, it may take some trial and error.)
Thank you. We have a short getaway in Melbourne in the next school holidays and with just carry-on luggage I am still deciding if I should take anything other than my Moleskine notebook and fountain pen!! I could always just do a bit of shopping while I am there!!!
Hi 😁 can you please do a video on Dr. Ph. Martins Iridescent Calligraphy ink I really want to buy them and but I can't find a good example of them on RUclips and I think you are really good at demonstrating lots of products potentials?? Please😭love you're lettering btw
I love to watch you write! Could watch all day! I am practicing lettering myself...I notice you don't put much space between your words, is that a personal preference or just how brush lettering is done? That's very hard for me to get past when I am practicing!
I love these colours and your lettering! I might buy these paints, would the colours fade if I kept them away from the sun e.g. in my portfolio? Also, do the colours stain your palette? =-)
You know Kristina i wanna be like you when i grow up..you're so good in lettering and calligraphy....for me you're my inspiration..i'm Alyssa i'm just using my dad's account :) I Love You
Hi K1 I would like to learn calligraphy, but am not a good " self paced learner". Can / would you be willing to suggest any good places to learn how to letter? Also- I have learned that the art of true penmanship comes from the movement of the shoulder, not the wrist. Is this the case for calligraphy as well? Thanks very much! Also- what is your blog web address? I' d love to follow you and learn! Beautiful work!!
There is a way to hang art that has been created using non-lightfast products and that is by using uv-glas. That will help protect the piece from fading :)
Are you writing on watercolour paper and if so, do you do a water 'wash' on the paper first to prime it? I took a very basic watercolour class many years ago and we were taught to lightly wet the paper first and let it dry before starting to paint. Something about making the paper more receptive to the watercolour paints?
Hey I was kinda curious about the water brush you used. I'm a beginner with watercolor art and supplies haha. But it didn't look like you had to wash it in water to get the colors off for a new color. I was wondering how that worked, like shouldn't it become like a brown color?? Also I was wondering idk if you said this in your vid or not (sorry). But do you think that a water brush is good to use for a picture or should it just mainly be used for lettering. Thanks so much for your time and I loved the video. Great job🙂💜
You just squeeze the brush handle and clean water comes out. You can use it for lettering or traditional painting. In fact, I know people who purposely do not fill the brush with water and instead use it like a regular brush and dip it into water.
Loved this video! I've also seen some people put in where the water is supposed to be in the pentel aquash brush, wouldn't that be easier to write with when you use a black ink?
hey Girl We love you over here in NY.... watch you all the time I just purchased the 12 hydrus colors before I open them could you please let me know if they are a decent brightness I want bright????? Also what are 2 or 3 papers to use that you find work best with these
If you want really bright, you're better off with the Radiant line. However, the Hydrus colors are beautiful too. As for paper, you can use any watercolor paper. These behave just like regular watercolors when it comes to paper. I used Canson XL here.
don't know if you'll see this, but I wanted to know if you would make a video on how to improve your hand writing ..... PLEASE. Mine isn't really bad, but I just think it could use improvements.
If you were just starting out using a water brush and liquid pigment instead of an actual brush pen, could you get away with using reinkers instead of concentrated water colour inks? Would you water down the reinkers or use them straight?
its handwriting we were taught in school, which, from some of the comments, isnt taught any more. Such a shame because it is so relaxing. Its not caligraphy in the strick sense of the word. get an old handwriting book or calligraphy book, cover page with clear plastic and practice with a liner brush . when you get the knack, try writing short pasageswith a gel pen, then if your'e still interested, the paint brushes are available in 3 sizes on ebay, cheers
hi~ i have a question, is pentel water brush pen easier to use than derwent water brush pen? i have the latter one but i'm planning to buy the pentel water brush pen if it's more easier. thanks! 감사해요!
I've been using derwent but I haven't used pentel before... Derwent seems rly nice but it's a bit hard to squeeze if u want more water to come out... :)
This may be a really silly question but I use regular watercolour paints so how do I know how much water to add to make it the right consistency for lettering?
It's really personal preference and lots of practice. The more you do it, the more you'll discover how much water you'll need to reach a consistency you like. Every watercolor medium is different, so you'll need to play a bit and experiment. :)
I would really like to try liquid consentrated watercolor, but don't want to spend an arm and a leg on something I may only use once. Do you know of any liquid concentrate watercolor that is dirt cheap? Quality doesn't matter, if I fall in love with this medium I will buy the artist quality ones. Can anyone help me?
can i use cake type watercolor? You know, just directly dip the brush pen to the colors like a regular brush? Well, even though I dont have a brush pen but please let me know If its okay :-). Btw your videos are awesome!
AquaSapphire21 you can but if u dont want to spend money on those then just liquify the paints on the cakes or pans or tubes and then get paint from there
+Jane Fer oops its actually waterbrush that im sayin to. i thought that waterbrush and brush pens are the same but now i know. anyways thanks for the reply :-)
I leave it there to dry. Then I can add water and re-use it later. I'll usually go through about 3-4 sessions of lettering before I just clean the palette off completely.
Where can I find a list of upper and lower case letters? I'm just starting out and need a reference to start practicing and making my letters flow in my own style. I'm using the Pentel Sign brush pens and they bleed through my printer paper (printed out free guides) any suggestions on paper?
I really like the Rhodia Dot Pads (or any Rhodia paper). It's super smooth and holds up to most juicy markers. As for examples of letters, you might check out Instagram. There is a series of hashtags that you can search on. Look for #letterarchive and then #letterarchive_a, #letterarchive_b, #letterarchive_c, etc. You'll see lots of examples.
+K Werner Design Thank you! So many ideas on Instagram! I'll look up that paper! I've always enjoyed working on penmanship and I am looking forward to seeing more of your examples!
Hi! I was wondering if you were participating in the Do Something campaign. You make birthday cards to send to local homeless shelters. It's a really good cause and you make the best cards!
how can I use these inks without a water brush?I can replace it with something else? i'm participating in the 250k subs giveaway (is unlikely that I win but, I have hopes XD ) and I wanted to know if I can use these inks with something else for lettering :) I love your videos, greetings !!!
What I looove about this youtube channel is she talks and does her work at the same time, others talk talk talk and start lettering by the last 2 mins of the video so annoying
i used to dread sending cards. after watching and learning from you i can whip them out and i feel great!! thanks so so much.....from an old granny.
So nice to have you back I have missed your inspiration. Beautiful piece. Thank you
your videos are so calming and I aspire to be as creative as you!
Another masterpiece, Kristina! From one handwriting enthusiast to another- I love it!
thank you for helping me to understand the difference between Dr. Ph. Martin's Radiant liquid watercolors and their Hydrus liquid watercolors!
Thank you so much for explaining the differences between the radiant and hydrus watercolor by Dr P H Martin.
I love the quote....so true. And I love the calligraphy too!
Thank you for your video. I loved watching your talent flow through the aqua painter and into the canvas.
This has nothing to do with watercolor or the video but I loooove your voice lol it's so comforting 😆😆 sorry, weird but the truth lol
Flawless handwriting and gorgeous colors! Love it totally.
Very good quote. I've heard it before and I needed to hear that again today.
Great piece...love the lettering It just flows from your hand. love it.
A great quote and you did it beautifully!
Beautiful vibrant colors and great lettering!
So glad you're back!! I hope your new craft room was worth the wait :)
Definitely worth the wait! Although, now I have to move everything back into it. So that's taking so time, too. :)
All I can say is "just STUNNING" Kristina!!! TFS
I envy your ability to paint free hand script lettering! beautiful!
WOW such beautiful lettering. I need to start practicing.
I love your scripting!! Just beautiful!!
Your vídeos are soo relaxing, i love them
I love watching you do this it looks so pretty!
Thanks for sharing your knowledge, talent and inspiration. It is definitely helpful for me!
This handwriting is beautiful!

Yes, Yes! Please do!! Great idea, Marisa!

Greetings from Argentina!

I thoroughly enjoyed watching you create the watercolor lettering. You make it look so easy! I think you should have a give away and create another for one of your lucky followers! Just beautiful - how can we learn to do such beautiful calligraphy?
I always love your hand lettering videos. Would you ever do an online class on calligraphy/lettering?
Just beautiful Kristina! Thanks

Kristina, thank you for always brightening my day and inspiring creativity in me! When you travel, what do you take with you to create with?
Generally, I only take a sketchbook, some pencils, and some brush markers. Sometimes I pack my Peerless Watercolors palette and a water brush too.
Thank you. We have a short getaway in Melbourne in the next school holidays and with just carry-on luggage I am still deciding if I should take anything other than my Moleskine notebook and fountain pen!! I could always just do a bit of shopping while I am there!!!
So beautiful! Thank you!
It's lovely, Kristina! Take care, Kim :)

beautiful quote
I love these colours and your lettering! I might buy these paints, would the colours fade if I kept them away from the sun e.g. in my portfolio? Also, do the colours stain your palette? =-)
You make it look so easy! How did you learn? ...... were you self taught or did you take a class ??
Self taught, mostly.
Do you think you could make more cards featuring the Hydrus and Radiants? :)
You know Kristina i wanna be like you when i grow up..you're so good in lettering and calligraphy....for me you're my inspiration..i'm Alyssa i'm just using my dad's account :) I Love You
These watercolors look so beautiful (and I LOVE watercolors!) but man, the sets are so expensive! lol

I love your videos! but I think God wanted me to see that quote this morning , as I am struggling with letting go of negative people in my life.
What paper are you using for this video? Beautiful!
So vibrate TFS!🎨

so talented!!!
Do you prefer the ink over the paste water colors? I'm just learning and having a hard time getting consistency with the paste
I'd love to see a tutorial on how to properly use brush pens or markers. I never get the pressure right especially when doing the loops in letters 😄
I think it's all about practice. The more you practice, the more you'll improve. :)
Loved this video! I've also seen some people put in where the water is supposed to be in the pentel aquash brush, wouldn't that be easier to write with when you use a black ink?
Also what other inks do u recommend?
I've done that with a pink liquid water color and it worked great. Any of the Dr. Ph. Martin's inks or liquid water colors are good.
I love your strokes especially that I know that it's free hand. How long did you learn calligraphy?
I've been doing calligraphy for 15 years, but practiced more within the last couple of years.
+K Werner Design Wow, took a long time, with wonderful results
How did you get so good at brush lettering. I MUST know!
Practice. :)
K Werner Design how much time had passed since you first started?
Beautiful!
do you need a water brush or could you use a normal paint brush? and which one would turn out better?
What do you do with the leftovers on your palate? :o I mean wouldn't it be a waste to wash it off
hey Girl We love you over here in NY.... watch you all the time I just purchased the 12 hydrus colors before I open them could you please let me know if they are a decent brightness I want bright????? Also what are 2 or 3 papers to use that you find work best with these

Not sure. Sounds like you're in for some fun experimenting. :)
Where do you get your quotes from? Because I always have a hard time looking for a good quote that's not too short or too long.. Thank you :)
I find most of them on the internet or Instagram.
+K Werner Design Oh! Thank you! :)
Mintmusic415 you can write song lyrics too
So beautiful! What do you do with it? I would love to have one of your pieces to frame. You should do a give away! lol

I haven't tried the Derwent version so unfortunately I can't compare them. Sorry I can't help!
I've been using derwent but I haven't used pentel before... Derwent seems rly nice but it's a bit hard to squeeze if u want more water to come out... :)
WUYIPANES to me pentel water brush is easier.

Hi. What affect would using something like distress glaze have over the lightfastness of the colors?
i like the colors!:)
HOW CAN U FREEHAND THAT? TEACH ME SENSEI
f u x o x o teach you sense! Hahaha
Have you tried calligraphy using fountain pen?
I would really like to try liquid consentrated watercolor, but don't want to spend an arm and a leg on something I may only use once. AquaSapphire21 What I mean is not activating it or making it wet, but put a new batch of liquid from the cake paint on a palette
+Jane Fer oops its actually waterbrush that im sayin to. i thought that waterbrush and brush pens are the same but now i know. anyways thanks for the reply :-)
ok......woah....did you lightly write that script in pencil and then go over it or was that all just free hand???
Freehand
Wow, that´s awsome!
What do you do with the watercolor that was already on the palette but you weren't able to use up? Thanks
I leave it there to dry. Then I can add water and re-use it later. I'll usually go through about 3-4 sessions of lettering before I just clean the palette off completely.
Thank you!! I love watching your videos

How'd you learn to write/paint like that?
hey I have a question ... are the can you use any type of water color ?
Nehemias Urla yes. As long you don't use acrylic
Is Dr. Ph. Martin's Radiant Concentrated Water Color can be available in the Philippines?
I don't know if it is. You might also look for Ecoline, which is a similar product.
okay thanks a lot.
what the things that you usely use to do that?
fabulous.i wish I do as you
What watercolor paper did you use?
Where did you get ur paint and brush??
that's awesome😄😄😄😀😊

what happened to the liquid watercolor you stored in an ice cube tray??
I still have them and use them. :) Although, after using them more, I would definitely recommend only filling the tray with a few drops of each color.
Hi! I was wondering if you were participating in the Do Something campaign. You make birthday cards to send to local homeless shelters. It's a really good cause and you make the best cards!
onde se pode comprar essa caneta
What's the name of the brush?
Aquash brush. There's a link in the video description.
how can I use these inks without a water brush?I can replace it with something else? i'm participating in the 250k subs giveaway (is unlikely that I win but, I have hopes XD ) and I wanted to know if I can use these inks with something else for lettering :)
I love your videos, greetings !!!
You can use a regular watercolor brush, too. Or anything that will pick up the paint. :)
+K Werner Design oh yeah, I'll do that! thank you!! :) ♡♡♡♡
Очень круто👍Хм как научиться так аккураино и красиво писать?
love your quotes! i also made a quote art on my channel!
What I looove about this youtube channel is she talks and does her work at the same time, others talk talk talk and start lettering by the last 2 mins of the video so annoying
Boring - seen it too many times already.
Where did You get this brush marker from??
You can purchase them online. There are links in the supplies list in the video description.
