- Most people use bundles to do their ponytail, but have you heard of using your wig?? I wanted a ponytail but didn't have any bundles so I figured hmmm maybe I can use my wig, and I did and it worked lol so let me show you how to do a ponytail using a wig.

Most wigs are just way too thick to use as a ponytail. For years I have used curly or wavy wigs as ponytails. But I cut (separate) the cap of the wig into 2 (if it is extra thick, I can cut into 3 separate vertical pieces/ "strips"). I do admit that after you cut the wig into 2 or 3 elongated "strips" it CAN be tricky to fix or mount it onto your own natural ponytail. I take the end of the "wig strip" and wrap a "rubber band" it AROUND my own natural ponytail. Then I either wrap a loose piece of hair around it to cover up the banded portion. Or, I just use a extra large banana clip to cover up the base. I get a LOT of compliments on it. I think because when you use curly or wavy "wig hair" as a ponytail, you have a LOT more choices of hair textures, colors, highlights, ombre shading AND LENGTHS to use vs most ponytails out there. Including bundles. It is true bundles can be colored, cut etc. But most of us don't have the skills to do ALL the colors and textures we DREAM of. Nor do we have the money to pay for exotic or classy looking ponytails on a regular basis. Personally, I do not wear synthetic hair longer that one or two months. So I always buy 2 or 3 of the same wig or hairpiece. When you cut a wig into 2 or 3 vertical pieces, you automatically get 2 or 3 ponytails ! 🫠 So, that is why for the past 20 years, I have used cut up wigs as ponytails as well as the hair textures and color combinations are endless and cost effective vs the cost associated with bundles as a finished product.

Was this a headband wig? How did you hide the headband? I never saw it..
No this was a regular frontal wig and i put it on the same way you’d put bundles on a ponytail… i hid the frontal part by taking hair from the back and wrapping it around the ponytail part.. the same way you’d hide the tracks on a ponytail install.
