The SIG P-210 was adopted by the Swiss army in 1949. A few other armies used it, including Denmark, but not Sweden. The SIG P210 was designed as a symbol of the rank of the officer who carried it. It has never been designed as a "practical" firearm. Yet, the danish soldiers who used it recently are trusting it. The SIG P210 was also designed to compete with the swiss army parabellum (in 7.65 para) in SINGLE HANDED STATIC precision target shooting at 50 meters. As such, it guaranteeped to hold the ten every single day. It may be possible that the new productions (in Germany and in the US) do not hold the same standard. The SIG P210 was designed to be used with the swiss army full metal jacket ammunition (124Gn). It has never been designed to be used with other kind of ammunition (be it hollow point and/or of a different weight). Obviously, SIG SAUER believes that they can make a lot of money with a slightly modernized version of the original model. According to some videos on the net, they cannot make enough of them to satisfy the orders they get. But most people who purchase this pistol are not looking for a "practical" firearm. They are looking for a symbol, a collection piece, or a target pistol for some form of "static ordnance" centerfire pistol competition. But, if the video was intended to compare a modern 1911 with practical SIG SAUER firearm, the P210 was not the right choice. It would have been a lot more relevant to compare a 1911 with a SIG SAUER P226 LDC2 (made in germany only) or a SIG SAUER X-Five.

Only just read your comment, all very true but you forgot to mention that P210 was an improvement over the French M1935A designed by Charles Petter (Swiss born but French after 1916).
Just shot three hundred rounds through my Springfield TRP. Beautiful gun and accurate. Along side that gun, I also put a few hundred through my P226 and 229 legions. They both get better with age (both bought last month), so I can only imagine how smooth they will be a year from now.
I also recently bought the 226 it is an amazing pistol. I have been shooting for many years and the 226 is crazy accurate. I also Own the P220 Match elite and it is guaranteed from sig to be accurate within. .70 In my younger years I could hold those groups. Now my eyes have failed me. They have opened up a little bit. I like the sig. mechanism they do not shoot loose over time.
I own the P210 target, and 4 1911s (2 colts, sig traditional slide, and a les baer) I agree with this video, but the P210 is my favorite. The baer must be clean to run well, colt officer is not reliable enough . Old Colt combat commander and sig 1911 are great clean or dirty.
The reason I don’t own or want another 1911, my P210 Target. I love the CZ platform, this is very similar, and I haven’t shot a better trigger including the high end 1911s I have had for much less cost. P210 is the ultimate shooting 9mm pistol.
My P210 Neuhausen (the original) benchrests to approximately 1 MOA at 50 yards... It’s also difficult to say what a 1911 really is vs a Sig P210. One is generic vs a specific Brand/Model. If you buy a high end 1911 its a custom job, which is not to alike.
Your 210 shoots half inch groups at 50 yards? If so, that's incredible, and you should sell it to the Accuracy X guys that charge big money for 1" guarantee at 50yds.
I came late to the handgun party. So I started with polymer striker guns. Then I got a 1911 and wondered why plastic guns even exist. When it's right, it's just right no matter what century it came from. Grip angle, trigger, safety, recoil, maintenance, reliability. Honest Outlaw has it right. My 1911's were the guns that taught me to shoot.
I definitely don’t think Sig “half assed” this new p210. A double stack version would be nice however. These new p210s will also shoot 2” groups at 50 yards, just like the 3000 dollar Wilson combat.
Subject change: Have you ever considered shooting the metal targets in such an order as to play music, such as the theme from Nutcracker, or the Carole of the Bells? Most people would not be able to make this work, but I bet YOU could!
Yeah held one of these and I was honestly blown away. The target model has a handle that fits my hand as if it was tailored to my hand. Trigger felt as though it would compete with my mpa ds9 at half the price. It’s been added to pistols I’ll own at some point. But I do certainly agree, sig could bring this into the modern age and it would be a phenomenal gun to compete with. Bring the safety out so it’s a leverage point against recoil, make it double stack. Make it to where it’s optic friendly and get that trigger down to a crisp 2pounds 3 OZ. The trigger on the one I handled was breaking at a very consistent 2pounds 8.6 OZ. I can’t think of any pistol in that price range that I’d want in my hand like I do it. SIG deserves a round of applause
When Sig was going to bring out the German version years ago i was on five different waiting list at the gun shops in my area, after waiting month after month i got tired of waiting and bought a Night Hawk Custom T-3 9mm,that was the best decision i ever made, the 1911 has one big advantage over the P210 and that is parts support, great review!
Because you demonstrate your level of expertise with every video, I will accept your opinion as "expert". I have never even seen a Sig P210(IRL), so I can't praise it or condemn it. However, there might be a couple of 1911s laying around my house somewhere, so I can agree with everything you said about them. Very good video!
I've put ~1500 rounds through my Rock Standard full size. Zero malfunctions. I've fed it a variety of ammo, though mostly FMJ 230gr ball, though also some jacketed hollow points, as well. Also picked up a Rock Island TAC Ultra FS HC doublestack in .45 ACP, and the no-frills M200 revolver in .38 spl. Likewise zero malfunctions so far. Absolutely LOVE my Rocks.
They are a great value for thier price for sure, but the ENTIRE gun is cast. Slide, frame, hammer, everything.... all brittle cast steel. You can feel the quality of a milled pistol
I disagree as the 210 is 1.5 inches at 50m from the factory. I have BOTH a p210 and a wilson cqb 9mm full size. both are amazing. BOTH have been 100% reliable, I am a died in the wool 1911 guy but man the 210 has really grabbed my heart. I could not pick between the 2.
Since some point, I have been waiting for someone to make this comparison (review) vid. Though I am already owning 1911(Clone)s and P220 Frame handhelds. Thank you, again, for such nice vid.
I got use to the colt government 1911 in 45 , in my misspent youth. I brought back 3 , 7.62 x 25 , traded 1 off , locked the other 2 up , I started using wheel guns in magnum calibers, political winds blowing now , I've been replaced them with double stack 1911s in different calibers, the only antique I kept was my 45 , but I'm thinking about replacing the sights with fiber optic, or new slide with them and buying more magazines for it . Locked up my sporting rifles, built 2ar in different calibers .
Try comparing actual Danish issued service pistol version of 210 against US issued 1911. No comparison. Sig wins. Also, sadly because I'm a fan of the channel, deeply disappointed in lack of research on the 210 history and lineage.
You mentioned a double stack 45 . Here are a couple options . CZ 97 10 round 45 ... Sarsilmaz K2-45 14 round double / single action all metal . Great grip for a double action 45 . Internal slide rail like the CZ-75 .. cost around 5 hundred . Also has a nice trigger pull
So, I have the P210A Target and I also have a Wilson Combat CQB Elite. As a person who collects high-end guns and shoots as often as possible, I think that both platforms are excellent. In my opinion the P210 feels very close to the 1911 platform. Sig's new release of the target pistol with the new upgraded grips makes it hard for any other manufacturer to compete with the way the P210 melts right into the contours of one's hand. Ergonomically, Sig nailed it with this one. With that said, I still shoot my WC and my CZs better than I do the P210. The P210's recoil is nearly double that of my competition guns because of the weight difference and how the weight is distributed on the frame/body. So, I find myself having to adjust the way I shoot whenever I pick up the P210. All in all, the P210 is an amazingly accurate pistol. I truly love holding and shooting it, but, the 1911 is still better for me and fits my unconventional firing techniques. Since I do have both platforms, I'm a pretty happy guy and either of them would be more than sufficient enough to defend my home and everything in it.
I'm from Switzerland and an enthusiastic SIG P210 collector (the genuine SIG of course from Neuhausen am Rheinfall). Let say one thing about your presented pistol here, it is not SIG P210, it is a wannabe SIG P210! It is garbage made in USA who abuse the name SIG to suggest the old clockwork quality and craftsmanship from the Switzerland. This is what all the endless greedy managers, investors and shareholders do today with famous brands and glorious names, this is names pillaging!
It was originally produced in Switzerland by SIG (designed and made in Switzerland) and was the standard pistol of the Swiss Army. The originally P210 was available in 9 and 7.65 mm PARA. The successor was the SIG Sauer P220 (availabl in 9 mm PARA and .45 ACP). Both pistols were used by several countries' military and police forces. And there are many differences between Sweden and Switzerland. One is the geography: Switzerland is located in Central Europe (Germany in the north, France in the West, Austria in the East and Italy in the South). Sweden is in North Europe. For more information, see Wikipedia ;-)
It always amazes me how different the perspectives are all over the world! In the US of A it is just so much easier to get a gun and even multiple guns. In Germany I literally have to fill out several forms and applications for every single gun that I want to own. I need to have a purpose for every single one and by that I mean that as a competition shooter I must designate exactly why the gun that I want to buy is needed for that discipline, why the guns that I have do not cover that discipline etc. What I am trying to say is: We have to put a lot of consideration in what we buy since the amount of guns that I can own is limited. Also the shooting styles are kinda different. We shoot a lot more for precision. Ze german does not waste ze bullet!! So tue 210 is very popular among very good target shooters, but not the new line, the old ones. We have a former olympic shooter in our group that we compete with and he owns about 4 different versions. I have shot them all and the groups that one can achieve especially with the 6'' are incredible. He also has mounts for optics in the form of a complete socket that goes around the entire slide and attaches to the frame where usually a light/laser would be. No doubt that this is a somewhat custom system, but that is how we do things here: You want quality work on your firearm, then you need to visit a gunsmith. All that being said, after much much deliberation I also chose a custom 1911 for my own competition pistol. I have tried it all, from 210 over Pardini to an older STI2011, in the end the 1911 was the best. I may be a tiny bit more precise with the 210 when it comes to a pure bullseye competition, but I only shot it with custom loads for that pistol. The Pardini is more exotic and has an insanely good trigger but I always come back to the 1911. The bext trigger, it feels just right and adding the weights etc. it will be better for also competing in more dynamic competitions. I would not say the 1911 is better, but it suits my needs better than the 210. Plus used 210s from the glory days cost as much as factory new guns here. My custom 1911 is also gonna go for 4k, but prices here are simply not comparable to the states. The 210 legend also costs 4k here. Not custom or anything. Be glad how much freedom you enjoy in the states!
High praise for the JMB 1911 desgin coming from a European bullseye shooter like yourself. In the states, accuracy sports have fallen by the wayside in favor of action sport shooting like IDPA and USPSA. This has cause some newer shooters to never realize the immense pleasure an enthusiast gets from the 1911 design: ergonomics and accuracy.
Best long reply ever! Thank you. You’re totally correct about having to be very selective because of the process required to obtain the firearm. I just walk in to my West Virginia USA shop and can walk out with multiple handguns in 15 minutes, so I can buy on a whim😀God bless the USA
Great comparison. I would like to see an update comparing carry models. Specifically the Sig P210 Carry and the Ed Brown KC9 LW or other commander style 1911 with 4” to 4.25” barrels.
Good god, the first mistake occurs withing the first 20 seconds. I'm impressed!! The SIG 210 is the SIG 210 and not the SIG SAUER 210. Basic stuff, but then hey, I just got back 10 minutes of my life.
How much was the Wilson Combat 1911 that you tested? How much was the Sig P210? Is it a fair comparison ? Is one a custom gun and the other a production gun. It seems so to me. How about full and fair disclosure. Give us all of the accurate information.
The continuing success of the 1911 is proof of the absolute genius of John Moses Browning. Name any other firearm still in use after over 100 years in a real world combat ready army? The few there are, usually are Browning's.
You compared accuracy without showing us any groups or stating your test conditions at all. How many rounds did you fire? Did you shoot from a Ransom rest, or at least from a supported bench position to eliminate the human factor? If you didn't eliminate the human factor, you don't know which gun is more accurate.
My picks over the P 210 are Dan Wesson 1911 in 9 mm and by far CZ Shadow 2. Shadow 2 DA/SA and double stack magazine, adjustable sights, accuracy, great trigger all at price of the standard P 210.
@@berjerk3425 no it was never used by the swedish military. its just a an american confusing sweden with switzerland, not the first time and will not be the last.
I just got a P210 Target. Pretty sweet pistol. I do wish mags were easier to get, though. Armory Craft does make +1 baseplates for the P210, if you weren't aware.
Between these two I'd weigh a 1911 in .38 Super: superior capacity, greater power (in general), lower cost of the hardware if not ammo (again, as a general rule though there are exceptions); agreed with others it's apples to oranges and I notice lots of testimony online about how it is the P220 that beats a 1911 though not by much. SIG made a .45 double-stack (the P227) but it flopped.
Yup. I own several 1911's, but none are carry guns. Why would you pick a carry gun that is the same size and weight as a competitor but only about half the ammo capacity?
@@viclavar9298 I wasn't picking the Sig. Virtually any similar size M&P or Glock is a better choice than a 1911. I've carried them all. The 1911 is a fine gun, but it holds no advantages.
@@Defossion1 10 round limit in Jersey so the capacity argument doesn't hold here. Unfortunately, it is virtually impossible to conceal carry in Jersey so probably a moot point when discussing carry options :(
@@viclavar9298 Ah. Got it. Thank you. I apologize; I don't know the law in New Jersey. I live out west in a "shall issue" state with no capacity restrictions. Best wishes to you.
I’d love to see a comparison of the Swiss p210 vs the top Wilson combat 1911, not the remake p210. The only advantage the 1911 will have is the mag release.
I do appreciate the honesty that this is the reviewers opinion. My thoughts are, practically no one makes a “standard” 1911. There are a fewer imports, but really all 1911’s are updated. Look at the market for upgrades. The Sig is virtually unchanged since it’s original inception. Also, no one thought the need tune or update. The original was a 50yrd gun. Known for shooting tens of thousands of rounds. No one makes a slide that feels like it’s on roller bearings like the P210. Anyhow, keep the reviews coming.
I'd like to see a sig p210 vs a 1911 of equal quality. It's a safe bet that a 3k plus Wilson combat will out perform a stock p 210. There's a lot of 1200.00 1911s that wont shoot with that sig. Not a sig fan either. The only sigs I have ever thought much about and like are the p365 and p365xl.
I was going to make the same point. You expect more from a $3K pistol. It better be superior. The unreliable 1911 is a myth. I have a $700 Springfield that I can't remember the last time it had a failure and that was from a bad magazine. I have a bunch of 1911s in 9mm. 10mm and standard caliber that range in price from aforementioned Springfield to $1500. My 10mm has problems with aluminum case ammo and that is about itl. The others are bullet proof. They are al more accurate than I am.
John Shepherd - Not quite myth, but the same 1911A1s the military used from WWII - Desert Storm-ish that needed complete rebuilds is different from a new Taurus 1911 that can run with no issues.
I’ve never shot a 1911 because I’m younger so i grew up with polymer guns mainly the Glock and now sigs. I rented a staccato p the other day to try and it was much flippier then I was expecting it to be compared to even my 365xl or 320.. kinda bummed me out as I’ve heard such good things
Mine eats Nosler match to Tula steel case and everything at every weight in between. I'm at around 1,000 rounds, the bulk of which has been Browning FMJ 115. And factory Sig mags are available online everyday. Somehow I've managed to buy as many as I want.
I have just about every pistol ever made, at least everyone that I want! Anyway I love my 28 1911’s and also my 2 p210’s both are my best shooting pistols and the Sig p226 and p229 are my favorite carry pistols. If you think you’re going into trouble carry a brace (2 pistols) with 20 round mags!
I like the idea of Sig P210 Carry but only 8 rounds of 9mm in the magazine versus 10 rounds of 9mm in a 1911. I can also find a 1911 in 9mm for less than the cost of the Sig, just might not have same level of build quality. Great comparison review!
@@failure2flinch876 SIG was originally a Swiss company that made the P210 for the Swiss army and was for a while adopted by the Danish military and German police.
Why? Please educate me on my mistake... Did the Swedes try to adopt it for a longer period of time Even though they never did? I know Denmark adopted it.
I don't understand why you say that anything smaller than a 4 in bbl is a problem, FALSE!!! I own a Colt 1991a1 Compact model & have never ever had any issues with IT.... I truly believe you need to shoot more 1911 Guns & get more experience, it's a 3 in barrel, and very accurate in the right hands , comes with a Bull barrel...
I've got the p210a target and it's awesome, I like my old colt 9mm and 38 super more in the feel and style but the p210 accuracy beats em, haven't put the single action only shadow2 blue through it's paces yet to compare
"If you buy a 1911, eagles will sing when you buy it." I'm an Australian who thinks that's about the most American saying I've ever heard. Well done sir.
Here is what I think of the most difference When people talk about the key of trigger control is to pull the trigger straight back, I just think they couldn't 100% get that from the gun unless the trigger is designed to travel straight back. Lol but I know you're looking for a kind gun with everything on a 1911 with a inside ride slide aka Lower bore access like a reversed DW DWX.

In 1949 the P210 was adopted primarily by the Swiss military and also by the Danish military. All P210 models have a manual safety. Great review 👍
The P210 Neuhausen was standard sidearm in Danish military up until I think two years ago. I shot it in the 1980’ies in the Danish Airforce.
Thanks for sharing. That was interesting.
The MG42 and MG3 would like a word about Germans not wasting bullets lol
Best long reply ever! Thank you. You’re totally correct about having to be very selective because of the process required to obtain the firearm. I just walk in to my West Virginia USA shop and can walk out with multiple handguns in 15 minutes, so I can buy on a whim😀God bless the USA
@@miken5413 One day I will get a job over there, I already visited for a year in high school as an exchange student. Then I will do exactly that :D
if 72 years ain't enough time and iterations to be reliable, it ain't never gonna be.
true words... the sig p210 needs to be treat well or it fails.
Exactly. Just get a striker fired less maintenance, less money and call it day.
Great Review Guys ! Thanks again for all u both do ! 👊🏼💯
Great video I can't wait until the DWX comes out....really want to see how CZ/Dan Wesson compares to the competition
Late to the party but always appreciate your perspective and opinions. Two great guns here for sure.
How much was the Wilson Combat 1911 that you tested? How much was the Sig P210? Is it a fair comparison ? Is one a custom gun and the other a production gun. It seems so to me. How about full and fair disclosure. Give us all of the accurate information.
I agree with the top 5 da/sa hammer fired guns! Im a recent convert to hammer fired blasters
Welcome
I own many different types of pistols, but still loves me the 1911 the most... Mercia!!!
Great video. Excellent work.
gonna hit that subscribe button even if i have to every time i come back to one of your videos
Great vid my guy
The continuing success of the 1911 is proof of the absolute genius of John Moses Browning.
Name any other firearm still in use after over 100 years in a real world combat ready army? The few there are, usually are Browning's.
God made men Samuel Colt made them equal John Browning Keeps men Free
The Mosin Nagant comes to mind.
2 sweet guns, love that Wilson. Great review
You compared accuracy without showing us any groups or stating your test conditions at all. How many rounds did you fire? Did you shoot from a Ransom rest, or at least from a supported bench position to eliminate the human factor? If you didn't eliminate the human factor, you don't know which gun is more accurate.
I couldn't afford either of these. So I bought a Sig 1911.
Nice piece, out shoots me!
My picks over the P 210 are Dan Wesson 1911 in 9 mm and by far CZ Shadow 2. Shadow 2 DA/SA and double stack magazine, adjustable sights, accuracy, great trigger all at price of the standard P 210.
Interesting comparison review. Thanks.
Your best video to date, in my opinion, but then I too am a very big fan of the 1911.
Wow yes would agree with you all day long comparing the two , thanks
The price on the Wilson Combat is not exactly comparable to the P210, being at least twice as expensive.
Isn’t SIG Swiss, and not Swedish?
Yes but the P210 was swedish military service pistol
@@berjerk3425 no it was never used by the swedish military. its just a an american confusing sweden with switzerland, not the first time and will not be the last.
Berjerk many countries have used it as a service pistol. It was a matter of confusion on his part.

Love the 1911! I have 2 of them myself.
I just got a P210 Target. Pretty sweet pistol. I do wish mags were easier to get, though. Armory Craft does make +1 baseplates for the P210, if you weren't aware.
Oh nice. VS vids ate great
Between these two I'd weigh a 1911 in .38 Super: superior capacity, greater power (in general), lower cost of the hardware if not ammo (again, as a general rule though there are exceptions); agreed with others it's apples to oranges and I notice lots of testimony online about how it is the P220 that beats a 1911 though not by much.
SIG made a .45 double-stack (the P227) but it flopped.
I *LOVE* 1911’s and equally love Sig, so tough call 🤔
I love my Sig 1911!
Good call! 👍🏽
I love both as well, my sig sauer 1911 emperor scorpion was how I combined the two haha
My Sig Nightmare Carry is one of THE sweetest fireams on the planet.
I’ve had the .357 Sig model on my “to buy” list for a long time!
There aren't many guns I would pick a 1911 over.
Yup. I own several 1911's, but none are carry guns. Why would you pick a carry gun that is the same size and weight as a competitor but only about half the ammo capacity?
@@Defossion1 two words. New Jersey
Best wishes to you.
good point saying 1911 needs to be lubed pretty often and that shorter the model the less reliable it is than the full size.
Everyone should own at least one 1911
And one should be 45acp
Great info, thank you.
“Eagles will sing when you buy it.” I love it. Thank you for the video.
@@johnshepherd8687 I agree.
John Shepherd - Not quite myth, but the same 1911A1s the military used from WWII - Desert Storm-ish that needed complete rebuilds is different from a new Taurus 1911 that can run with no issues.
@@danielhenderson8316 The last 1911s procured by the military were Korean War vintage and were beat to $h!t by Vietnam.
Got to love the All-American 1911 but I wouldn’t kick a p210 out of my holster
Own a P210 target for almost 2 years now, About 400 rounds in a variety of ammo manufacturers. Zero malfunctions.
Mine eats Nosler match to Tula steel case and everything at every weight in between. I'm at around 1,000 rounds, the bulk of which has been Browning FMJ 115. And factory Sig mags are available online everyday. Somehow I've managed to buy as many as I want.
i will go buy the p210 target tomorrow and come back in 1 year to hold u accountable
You won’t be disappointed! Incredible pistol😀
@Dale Ross I fully agree. Across virtually the whole line they are top notch
@Dale Ross awesome service! But I feel bad now because I only have 11 Sigs!😩
Not Swedish, the p210 was designed in Switzerland. Like your channel 👍 greetings from switzerland
Love the Wilson! Nice Grips!
Sig makes a 1911. Would be cool to compare it to the P210.
I have both. Both are great guns, but the 210 gets more range time. So much more fun to shoot.
Id admit when I'm torn between 2 guns, the deciding factor almost always boils down to aftermarket support.
That is 2 extremely beautiful weapons
I like the idea of Sig P210 Carry but only 8 rounds of 9mm in the magazine versus 10 rounds of 9mm in a 1911. I can also find a 1911 in 9mm for less than the cost of the Sig, just might not have same level of build quality. Great comparison review!
I believe the 210 was Swiss not Swedish military if not mistaken
Originally Developed for sweden but the swiss adopted it
@@failure2flinch876 SIG was originally a Swiss company that made the P210 for the Swiss army and was for a while adopted by the Danish military and German police.

Did the Swedes try to adopt it for a longer period of time
Even though they never did?

the p210 is even more

I don't understand why you say that anything smaller than a 4 in bbl is a problem, FALSE!!! I own a Colt 1991a1 Compact model & have never ever had any issues with IT.... I truly believe you need to shoot more 1911 Guns & get more experience, it's a 3 in barrel, and very accurate in the right hands , comes with a Bull barrel...
I've got the p210a target and it's awesome, I like my old colt 9mm and 38 super more in the feel and style but the p210 accuracy beats em, haven't put the single action only shadow2 blue through it's paces yet to compare
I had a rock island 1911,worked just fine
Please review the Dan Wesson DWX. Thanks
"If you buy a 1911, eagles will sing when you buy it."
I'm an Australian who thinks that's about the most American saying I've ever heard.
Looking forward to the Sig P210 Carry review
I just purchased a RIA Hayes custom and i prefer it over the shadow 2 of which I’ve shot pallets of ammo through.
How far did you do that texas star with the 1911 at 6:54? That was impressive.
40sih yards
You can get an adjustable rear sight for the P210 at MGW. Sold out right now, but it does have a notification button...
I skipped that step and went straight for the target model so it's a fiber optic front sight adj rear
Love those fiber optic sights.
