  • ZipWorld Velocity 2 in Wales catapults you down over an old slate mine at over 100mph! It is the longest in Europe and the zip line fastest in the world!
    Here is what it's like to go down it, from the journey up to the top to the disembark at the end. A birds-eye view. It's absolutely incredible. It is definitely even higher and quicker than it looks here when you do it in person!
    If you like the look of it, you can find out more on its website: www.zipworld.c...
    It is located in an old Slate Mine, Penrhyn Quarry. Bethesda, Snowdonia, Wales, United Kingdom. Zip World, Bangor, Gwynedd LL57 4YG, United Kingdom.
    As featured on Top Gear. Zipline Wales. Speeds can be over 100mph.

    Hi there. Thank you all for watching our video. To help out, all the details are in the video description. The zipline is located in Wales at a place called ZipWorld. All the official speed and length stats are on their website. While our little video gives you an idea of what it may be like, to actually *feel* the rush, the wind, the adrenaline and see the height is another level. You must try it to truly experience how quick it really is. Trust me, you will scream doing it too! Have fun!

    I'm 59 now, and went on this about 3 years ago. I did it because I'm really scared of heights. If anything it all felt a lot tamer than I had imagined, but was still awesome. The feeling of having stopped over the water was the most terrifying thing about it: the fear of being stuck up there for ages while they rescue you. At 500 feet above the water your forward motion is almost undetectable apart from the roaring wind.

    • @Skank_and_Gutterboy
      @Skank_and_Gutterboy 3 года назад +9

      That's the part I was wondering about. From the video, it looks like you get "into the float" over the water, and then things appear to accelerate again as you get down closer to the ground. That's got to be an interesting effect and I would also be scared of getting hung up and sitting up there for a long time as they rescue you.

    • @justsomebloke6784
      @justsomebloke6784 3 года назад +10

      @@Skank_and_Gutterboy Yeah, your pespective gets all messed up by the distances involved. It is very disorientating to feel solid 100mph air hitting your head with no sense of motion. I'm glad I did it.

      It's the same illusion created when flying at altitude. You appear to be almost stopped, in spite of the fierce wind in your face, but coming in to land, everything starts to accelerate sometimes at an alarming rate! You are not alone with this illusion.

    I have been on this zip wire before and it was alot if fun. However a piece of advice to anyone planning to do it, it's probably quite difficult but try to do it on a day when it's not raining because at the speed you travel the rain basically slams into your face and it hurts alot which I learned the hard way. But it was good fun

      it's designed to slow as you get near the end. guys there have long poles to pull you to the ramp if needed. one vid at this same spot, the guy almost made it to the end, then went way far backwards, then forward well short of the run. workers had to come out from the end to roll them back to the ramp, and it was really quite far!

    observation: Zip Lines seem to appeal to people who aren't into real extreme stuff.
    They don't seem to normally hike camp or any advanced risky outdoor stuff. But they'll pay $100 on vacation to zip line. You know to do something real outdoorsy people take for granted. They probably drive Subaru's but stock up on groceries just before a 3" snow not daring to go out.

I suppose it would help to shoot stranded climbers down a ways but if it isn’t where they are stranded it’s useless, no one really gets stranded at the summit.
