I read, Who Gets The Drumstick?, by Helen Beardsley back in elementary school, and recognized her immediately. Yours, Mine, and Ours has always been a favorite, also.
Higgins is adorable!!!!
What a sweet liittle guy..God Bless You.."Mr.Higgins".
Higgins was just beyond adorable.... He did the first Benji movie, which reunited him with "Uncle Joe" Edgar Buchanan from Petticoat Junction, but then his offspring worked on the subsequent movies. Higgins lived to be 17.
Ahh, Benji
He was a beautiful dog, and very smart. Cocker Spaniel/Poodle was a good mix for him.
He was born in 1957 and died in 1975.
His daughter Benjean was in the second Benji movie.
Gerry Warschauer was an assistant trainer for Frank Inn, the owner of Higgins.
I didn't realize that "Yours, Mine and Ours" was based on a real family. One of my favorite movies
Desilu Productions acquired the rights to her story in 1961, when their marriage made news. It took six years for an acceptable script to be developed, giving her the opportunity to tell her story. I've read the book, and it shows some significant liberty the film took with the real story.
I just watched a video with one of the North kids and his story is full of horror and abuse. I think it has tainted my view of the wonderful movie. Obviously the book and the movie were far from the truth. The kids changed their names back to North eventually and Helen's ashes were buried with her first husband and she had left Frank Beardsley somewhere in there.
@@kp22kc When Lucille Ball went to meet the family, she caught Frank's vibe immediately, saying "Keep that man away from me!"
i dont mean to be off topic but does any of you know of a trick to get back into an Instagram account?
I somehow forgot my login password. I would love any assistance you can offer me.
@Odin Francis Instablaster =)
Loved being able to see the real family the movie Ours, Mine and Ours was based on. We're seeing history come to life thru these shows!
Harumph! No mention of Frank Inn (whom I once met as his aunt and uncle lived next door to me)
What an adorable dog! ♥️
Also played Bengi on movies 1970s
I saw Higgins/Benji in the thumbnail, and I had to see what the video was about. He's so cute!
That's the same kind of dog I had when a teenager, called him Buffy.
I've always loved Orson Bean, when he ever said....tell me # 4......I laughed so hard, still giggling as I type this. He has such a great sense of humor, so sad that he lived 92 years and his life ended recently getting hit by a car.
That was very sad Orson Bean was so funny
I was annoyed with Polly Burgen shy was always trying to be cute
@@annecooper774 i fiound him to be a jerk and not funny
Orson Bean was in 'Dr. Quinn Medicine woman.'
@@merricat3025 Well no one wants to ‘find’ you, whatever rock you live under.
I first saw Ms.Warschauer on"Art Linkletter's House Party"..with Mr.Higgins the dog on CBS TV..years ago.
AWWWWWWW it's BENJI!!
Yes your right ✅
This episode aired October 11, 1965. A week earlier, on October 3, 1965, Orson married Carolyn Maxwell.
I just watched the 1968 movie and I'm here because I was curious when it actually took place, especially after finding out it was a true story.
I like hearing the voice over at the end so I'm tuning in on Clint's advice to Rawhide and Peggy Cass was opposite Rawhide with the Marquis Chimps on The Hathaways for a while.
Higgins also played Benji in the movie by the same name.
That's what IMDb says, but I find it hard to believe that the energetic dog who starred in the original _Benji_ movie was 14 years old. (They say that a year in a dog's life is like 7 years in a human life, so that would have made him the equivalent of a 98-year-old human!)
@@savethetpc6406 the 7 year per year really isn"t accurate. I read that recently. Little dogs live longer than big dogs.
Lady #3 in Game #1
Lady #1 in Game #2
Man #1 in Game #3
I still call him Benji! I loved his bark!
I am fan of Orson Bean!!!
Helen Beardsley....my absolute hero!
Raising and homeschooling 8 is
all I can handle! What a woman/mother/wife!!
The reality is far less pleasant...Frank Beardsley was physically, emotionally--and sexually--abusive to his children. When Lucille Ball visited in preparation for the movie, she knew something was wrong and told Helen "Keep that man away from me!" Helen's family retook their name of North.
@@tomservo56954 I heard about that - really horrific 🥺
you might want to re-think that
Yep they owned a donut shop and all the kids had to work
@@jenniferwilliams5478 Was that at this time or later? Helen never mentioned it in the book.
This aired on my Mom's 9th birthday
I was 6 months old❤️
Life with Emily syndrome: She was your mother when she was only 9 years old??
@@johnpickford4222 I assume you're being sarcastic. I wasn't born yet.
Ms.Warschauer and "Mr.Higgins The Dog"also appeared on "Art Linkletter's House Party".
The dog trainers all had pleasant features. Bill Mathis was 3 yards and a cloud of dust runner. He had a good career.
#1 looks like Catherine O'Hara.

To Tell the Truth didn’t even give the family a washer and dryer.
😣😖
I regonize the judge he's an actor
When was this originally aired?
10/11/1965
oh Helen. what were you thinking?
She knew Frank was bad, but thought she could love him and help him.
@@01denese and didn't consider the well being of her children. its a heck of a legacy.
Tom said she told him she married Frank because he acted li m.j e hecwas going to kill his children. Helen knew what was going on but was in deep denial.
I wonder who owns the dog
No way it could be #3. She still had curves.
Frank was a abusers and just plan mean.
Yep I saw Tom's podcast
This must be Peggy's wig !!!!????
What, no stupid comment about Kitty's hair?
Who would name a girl, Gary? It's just cruel.
