Bingo. If you put 2 cars next to each other (since it was described as a 4-car garage!), there is no way you could open a door. Not sure 2 cars would fit side-by-side, but if so you just couldn't ever get in or out of the car.
I think it is because of the abomination in it that makes it looks small. It can fit 4 actual cars, but not as easy as he said. And there wont be access to the 2 cars in front without moving the 2 behind, which makes the 2 spots pretty much useless. But it can also be not useless for the right buyer.

It needs to be real grass to ground my feet in the earth. Don't let them tell you it's about the environment, it's not. You cannot make a claim of environmentalist when building a house life this. Putting my Arvin hat on: 1. location is probably shit, as no house on that street is going over 5 Mil, some idiot bought one at the end of the cul de sac for 10 mil and is now trying to sell. 2. lot is bad, literally no flat land, therefore no real backyard, and if you can see the "backyard" from your garage door, it's not a luxury property. 3. house is super long and narrow, that's a pretty long stretch to call it a private driveway, and you enter from the side, literally no frontage 4. the x-car garage, x isn't determined by how much square footage you have on the inside, it's decided by how many cars you can fit thru the garage door at the same time. 5. I'm paying 26 mil for a house and you are giving me fake grass? 6. the developer paid 3.4 mil for the lot, instead of making it a easy flip, they decided to go big. But i think they are still making money if it eventually sells for anywhere near 10 mil

Love your attention to detail, as usual! No other mansion reviewer / tour guide would draw attention to stuff such as the unique hinges on cabinetry (or show so much appreciation for pot fillers haha) -- makes your work stand apart. Thought the developer did a great job trying to bring as much nature as possible into this property, which is kinda tough to do considering it's basically on a cliff. Big fan of trees/gravel features/living walls /natural wood in homes.
interior of the property looks great for the price point, but that AstroTurf looks awful. Don't know if there is a better brand or installer for it that could have made it look better, but if that's what the final product looks like they would have been better off going with wooden decking. Yeah, the house doesn't really have a back yard (common in canyon properties) and the fake grass is supposed to give the illusion of one, but if it can't sell that illusion it's better to own the flaw and make the deck the best it can be rather than a poor imitation of a lawn.
Totally agree. That astroturf cheapens the property. Best to go with salvaged, miscolored stone bricks from Europe or elsewhere to elevate the property. Astroturf is a huge No-No!

The exterior of the house appears unfinished. All the mechanical equipment and pipes are visible. 4. "Enough with The Getty. The Getty. It's not like you can see the art from there." 5. He will burst out laughing about the "landscaping" of a garden or vineyard that one can do on the hillside. "What are you going to do, repel down to pick the grapes!"
The lot is the low point. You always know that something is wrong, when the agent shows irrelevant car. But the house has logic in it. Kitchen size is perfect and living room with cinema is a nice touch. Colors and materials, besides the fake grass are warm.

The colors and materials are exactly my taste. The view is fantastic. What I didn't quite understand was that I have such a small bathroom on the 2nd floor in one of the guest rooms that you bump your knees on the bathtub when you take a shower.
We both truly loved this one with the layout and the interior design choices. I totally agree with you that the minimalist look does not lend itself to the pot filler but I totally get why people would want one. A friend had one in her previous house but with upper cabinets on each side of the stove top it didn't look out of place and she loved it. Her current house doesn't have it and she misses it. Great interview with the developer and very cool of your past history. I do remember that since I started watching your videos when you uploaded the sailing yacht video and then went back to the first episodes and caught up on them all eventually overtime. Oh also loved the upper floor living room which is a brilliant idea for a family living in the house to have a separate area that is a little more private for younger generations or all to relax in the evening. Thank you for the great tour. Fabulous music choices, editing and the extra interview at the end was fantastic as well.

This is a beautiful rectangular modern design mansion. I like the kitchen, I like the master bedroom, master bathroom, and master closet. I like the calcata viola, and brechia cappia marble used in the house. A Calcata viola marble watch dial will be very beautiful.
No one paying $26 million for a home will consider that a four car garage. It is a one car garage. Maybe two if you are generous. No wealthy person wants to be Shuffling stacked premium cars In and out of a cramped garage on a regular basis. Further the glass walls into the garage make putting multiple cars in there not viable as they would look cramped.
U also have facade space where u could atleast park four more cars and still enter the drive way comfortably. Home owners of such properties are not car enthusiasts sometimes.

Most decent homes have 2-3 feet on each side of a 16 foot wide double garage door. 18 feet of total width MIGHT work for a small home's 2 car garage, but for $26 million, people expect a lot more. Good luck putting two Tesla SUVs in there without ruining the doors every time you open them.
the bottom of the house below the pool looks very unfinished. It looks cheap. Fake grass means you have hot plastic eminating from your back yard. A multi-million dollar house does not need this. Nice kitchen though.
That theater embedded into the common area is a great touch. I can tell they have a light-rejecting projector screen, which is a must with all the light coming into that room. Even better would’ve been a Samsung expandable, micro-led setup that can be expanded to almost any size and rejects light even better than light-rejecting screen.
I Really love this house! I would perfer more of a city view than a canyon view and it's gonna be a chore getting out of the garage and driveway, but no house is perfect.

I'm curious to know a rough annual cost to run a home like this, including taxes, utilities, regular maintenance of all the home's electronics, pool, and anything else that requires regular maintenance, and a staff to take care of the place, not live-in.

No one paying $26 million for a home will consider that a four car garage. It is a one car garage. Maybe two if you are generous. No wealthy person wants to be Shuffling stacked premium cars In and out of a cramped garage on a regular basis. Further the glass walls into the garage make putting multiple cars in there not viable as they would look cramped.

In real life these spaces are huge.
U also have facade space where u could atleast park four more cars and still enter the drive way comfortably. Home owners of such properties are not car enthusiasts sometimes.
@@Bubbles99718 You can see the width at 5:41. It is a 16 foot wide garage door with no space at all on one side and 2 feet on the other. Most decent homes have 2-3 feet on each side of a 16 foot wide double garage door. 18 feet of total width MIGHT work for a small home's 2 car garage, but for $26 million, people expect a lot more. Good luck putting two Tesla SUVs in there without ruining the doors every time you open them.
That's not true, a lot of car guys on RUclips don't have super garages and happily park 5-10 of their cars in their massive driveways lol

the bottom of the house below the pool looks very unfinished. It looks cheap. Fake grass means you have hot plastic eminating from your back yard. A multi-million dollar house does not need this. Nice kitchen though.

That theater embedded into the common area is a great touch. I can tell they have a light-rejecting projector screen, which is a must with all the light coming into that room. Even better would’ve been a Samsung expandable, micro-led setup that can be expanded to almost any size and rejects light even better than light-rejecting screen.
I Really love this house! I would perfer more of a city view than a canyon view and it's gonna be a chore getting out of the garage and driveway, but no house is perfect.
