Do the customers have to sign a waiver, that you're not responsible for damage to their vehicles? Because, wow, not a place you want to bring your brand new truck, lol.
I'm surprised that people are walking around without hard hats. While the crane drivers are very good at picking up scrap and avoiding swinging over vehicles etc there are moments when small pieces fall without warning
Where I am I do but a scrapping here and there and when I take it all in it's all sorted out. The non-ferrous is all in different containers and they like it that way cuz they can sort it out faster and all the shred I take in at a different time and it's all been sorted out and I just throw it out the back of my truck and go get my money.

When I see construction steel being thrown away here, while its price is high in our country, it makes me cry....
I would not lose sleep over it
It seems a lot of time and space is wasted by people breaking off copper etc by hand. They should be doing this before delivering to the yard.

Around here the seller does all sorting or you get a single lot price. Scrap yard makes $ from fine sorting and lazy scrappers. Stay safe.
