Hoping snapdragon 8 gen 3 will give me steady 90 fps in densely populated areas and also support 120 fps when it comes out in the next update. Also hoping the fps stays steady for these 2 years redmagic says they keep updating it. Cheers Basil 😁
Thanks Simcha! Appreciate that and really hope you enjoy the phone. I loved making this review, and was so sad to send my review phone back to Redmagic after filming this. Good luck with those steady 90fps frame rates 💪
@@revenge_codm2640 I'm getting good frames even in densely populated areas in scrims/ tourneys. Still I feel the enemies bullets hit me faster if they use iPad. Even though I play 20ms and 120 fps. Never used Diablo mode. Haven't had the need. Cheers
When the gaming phones started to hit the market, they couldn't even beat the latest iPhones, and you were just better off getting an iPhone for performance. Now, on the other hand, even though they are still behind apple in CPU but their GPU performance is off the charts, and their willingness to let their phones get hot without throttling is also interesting, a few more years for refinements and we might have near perfect gaming phones which can any game on its max settings without a problem.
That depends on how long you're gaming and what game is running. A 15m Genshin session with Diablo mode on only peaked it to 30° C at max graphics settings 60fps.
No, this isn't supported on Android, and neither is controller input. ruclips.net/video/psIaDl4d6Y4/видео.htmlsi=YgrBP7XAD7_Qbj5H this video might be useful for you :)
Considering this phone (the 9S variant). I do game but mainly PC/Xbox, so for this I'd probably be streaming (GeForce Now, etc.) as opposed to native gaming. The appeal is great screen and great battery life. Downsides (for me): probably overkill, and cooling fans are just another thing to go wrong. I tend to keep my phones for a long time (currently rocking a Note9 from 2019!), so I'd have this for at least 2 years. Lot of phone for the money!
It is a lot of phone for the money. If you want the biggest screen for game streaming, you might also want to consider a second hand foldable that's better for 16:9 content. Also, if you aren't relying on the onboard power, a midrange phone with a great screen like the Nord 4 could be a great shout. The superior durability and software support could suit your daily driver needs more. Basil
I wish I could tell you, I had it for one month to review, then sent it back to Redmagic as it was a loan sample. In that month, though, I didn't have any issues, and I've been using an 8s Pro on and off for 7 months without issue. Hope that helps! Basil
It does have awesome external speakers for sound but the headphones jack isn't as good, it's in between a standard headphone jack and a Dual Dac setup which puts it in a weird category that most devices no longer find themselves in, so yes I got the RM9P for everything other than sound, and the MoonDrop MIAD 01 for sound (best phone/DAP/DAC setup I've ever come across) and to this point I see nobody even coming close to MoonDrop's setup, now will we ever get a premium audio phone again, only time will tell, as of this moment SD only allows up to SD720 for audio devices and MT7500 from MediaTek, the last device to get an upgrade in sound along with a flagship processor was the LG V60, ever since then any and all DAP's use either the SD 720 or lower or the MediaTek 7500 or lower, there are a few that use Unisoc processors but I've yet to try out any of their devices

no gaming trigger, no built-in cooler, no 3.5mm, no hidden selfie cam, no 6500 mah battery and the xiaomi non-global phones are always really bloated with chinese apps. Wouldn't it be better to get the red magic 8 pro even though the soc is weaker? (both of them are at the same price)
Bro you are playing the wrong games. You need to play cod warzone mobile with 4x msaa and 16x anisotropic filtering at 120FPS and then you wilm get the overheating in diablo. My 9 Pro got so hot, that it shut itself down to prevent damage to the battery...
You would probably save money in the long run with red magic. With the increased prices with Samsung. Also a lot of people get a new phone every 2 years anyway.
Let me know if they ever allow bootloader unlock. I am still using a Sony xz1c thanks to unlocking and lineage, so I expect about ten years from a phone
explain to me how is 120hz ultra low end? Yes 120hz is super old but it is the standard, andyou can't even notice the difference in 144hz and 165hz and it just drains more battery. You won't notice the difference at all until you get to 240hz
I don't still have the 9 Pro as I had to send it back to Redmagic after my review was finished. But my 8s Pro supports Full HD video now which is a good sign. You'll need to speak with a Redmagic 9 Pro user for confirmation. Basil

Having headphones jack in 2024 is nonsense, a wireless noise cancelling headphones does 10x better than a wire hanging earphone, also having wire (Charger/headphones) stuck on the side of the phone makes it uncomfortable (I know people out there can adjust their fingers). Front facing speakers are perfectly placed. Pop up camera, that makes everyone go wow. If only Lenovo came back to gaming phone again. Conclusion: If I were to buy new phone, I would defo go for RM9 over ROG8, simply cos of the price.
It’s 799 in the UK. I don’t know where you’re getting it for that price but let me know.
Here's my affiliate link - redmagic.gg/products/redmagic-9-pro?ref=ntyymdk&
It says £579 for me, let me know if that's different for you. Cheers! Basil
Ye it's 579 for the base model, for the model you're using in this video it's over 700@@tech_edit
hey man does it play hdr videos, can you please test?
I've sent my review device back to Redmagic I'm afraid, but technically it should as it has an HDR display. Just not through Netflix or other services it isn't certified for.
its better to use it to ECO MODE. it has strong chipset and gpu so theres no need to diablo actually.
Thanks for the comment!
Execpt warzone mobile you probally have to enable diablo mode
All screen. Hear that Apple fanatics.
Ordered through your link. Thanks alot for the in depth review. Dont care much for the camera / it not being waterproof since I bought it solely for pubgm.
Is it handling heavy gaming well? And are there any downsides?
@@revenge_codm2640 I'm getting good frames even in densely populated areas in scrims/ tourneys. Still I feel the enemies bullets hit me faster if they use iPad. Even though I play 20ms and 120 fps. Never used Diablo mode. Haven't had the need. Cheers
@@simcha1999 thanks for the reply
When the gaming phones started to hit the market, they couldn't even beat the latest iPhones, and you were just better off getting an iPhone for performance. Now, on the other hand, even though they are still behind apple in CPU but their GPU performance is off the charts, and their willingness to let their phones get hot without throttling is also interesting, a few more years for refinements and we might have near perfect gaming phones which can any game on its max settings without a problem.
Does it have battery health like iphone does? Just wanna know. Tbh its quite alarming to see ur battery to decrease every month 😂
7:30 NO 50 MP!!! There is no option to change the quality of camera. The pictures are only 7 MP!!!
Great review, thanks! Might consider it now
What would the temperature be when the fan is on while diablo mode is on?
That depends on how long you're gaming and what game is running. A 15m Genshin session with Diablo mode on only peaked it to 30° C at max graphics settings 60fps.
@@tech_editAt what ambient temps ?
Can u play genshin at 120fps on this?
No, this isn't supported on Android, and neither is controller input. ruclips.net/video/psIaDl4d6Y4/видео.htmlsi=YgrBP7XAD7_Qbj5H this video might be useful for you :)
Can you put a phone cooler radiator to this phone for keeping much lower temp of the cpu?
Yes
OK so it's great for games and it's beautiful but is it a good phone?
All you need is a selfie stick, position the phone just right, and bam
Basil
@@tech_edit Thanks Basil!
Hey, nice Video!
How about Dust? Because the Fan is open, is there any problem after a couple of months?
Apple is gonna see this type of technology in the next 200 years
🔥
And apple gonna call it revolusonary😅
I don't use to play other games, cause the only one that i only play is codm and warzone Mobile. Codm don't overheat cause i have played within an hour and my own phone didn't overheat, but in warzone Mobile does overheat when you play.
I want one simply because it so much less expensive than the Samsung and Apple phones.
I phoned them in America, I texted them for months, a month ago they said they will send a label to send it for repair, they said within 15 days, more like 15cweeks? Don't buy this they have no backup!
I just bought it comes in tomorrow 🥰
I literally bought this because of the screen. Netflix on SD looks amazing on this. Don't be fooled by certifications
does it have hdr? netflix and youtube?
Gaming phone is a gaming phone don't compare to other phone
No eSim is the dealbreaker for my next new phone.
Can sim cards and memory card be inserted? And how many sims does it accept?
I want to buy it but kinda disappointed in my redmagic 6 I got in 2021 like really 3 yrs of gaming I need to upgrade again?? no 120hz on pubgm
I literally only have fb tik and pubg on my gaming phone
Yet I feel like it's not keeping up anymore in game
With 1g att fiber
Don't forget they have a fan if u like to play max settings
this seems like the same Design as the Razer phone 2 had, which was a really tanky phone. but sadly Razer no longer supports phones which i think was a mistake.
Netflix who?
good job bro
Bro I been looking for a phone without esim. Esims are a headache in the US. No I do not plan to travel international
If you're also looking for a stellar gaming phone, this could be the one. Thanks for the comment. Basil
The Redmi K70 Pro is cheaper, you can get 24GB RAM and 1TB Storage for 650 $.
No shoulder Buttons,
A big notch
Only 5000mAh Battery
Oh and a dumb 4k resolution on the Display which Makes it useless for gaming
@@xslamdownx102 Yeah I agree, I'm struggling to decide which one to get because my budget is limited.
no gaming trigger, no built-in cooler, no 3.5mm, no hidden selfie cam, no 6500 mah battery and the xiaomi non-global phones are always really bloated with chinese apps. Wouldn't it be better to get the red magic 8 pro even though the soc is weaker? (both of them are at the same price)
Thanks :)
I watched this video on my Redmagic 9 Pro
Another tech reviewer who ignore main feature and test with wireless iems. Thanks, bud.
the selfie camera sucks lol but above all it's still an awesome gaming phone
Great review. Thanks
If it had hdr, HD Netflix, and support for all us bands i would get it. Got the one plus instead.
The OnePlus is excellent, plus that camera 🥵 enjoy and thanks for the comment. Basil
What's HD Netflix mine looks HD how can you tell
Im buying this because i get a waifu built into my phone
LoL
Bro you are playing the wrong games. You need to play cod warzone mobile with 4x msaa and 16x anisotropic filtering at 120FPS and then you wilm get the overheating in diablo. My 9 Pro got so hot, that it shut itself down to prevent damage to the battery...
I bought it for my daughter 4 months ago and it dosnt switch back on
🎉🎉
You, you have to play with your voice, it is too mainstream. Do some emotions bro - no one is judging you, be more free!
I definitely wanted to grab this phone but the company is promising 2 years of software support.
Yep, explains the price though. Still, I would pay an extra £50 for longer software support personally. Cheers for the comment :) Basil
@@tech_edit agreed, I'd pay a little more for longer software support.
@@geodescent I've sent the phone back now, but great to know you're still rocking the XZ1 Compact, what a beauty.
This test is a hoax, in real life in diablo mode it reaches 100°C
Oh wow, that's nuts. Do you live somewhere hot?
@@tech_edit With air conditioning
@hudsongalaxy think you may have a bad unit. Mine got hot, but maxed out at mid 50s and I gamed a fair bit.
@@tech_edit test in game solo eleving arise Full settings with diablo mode pls
just 55° will shutdown itself
120hz is a joke, ultra low end phone, even 200€ phones have 120hz
No subwoofer, bad software
Really not worth the price
And not usefull for gaming
what phone u use rn?
@@swimbored asus
But dont be fooled, the new one isnt a gaming Phone
explain to me how is 120hz ultra low end? Yes 120hz is super old but it is the standard, andyou can't even notice the difference in 144hz and 165hz and it just drains more battery. You won't notice the difference at all until you get to 240hz
@@1_43 yes you will notice it 😂
Subwoofer on a phone? 😂 Good luck finding a phone like that lol
So is the Netflix still SD only? Is there HD or FHD already? Im planning to purchase the phone this week. Please advise
I don't still have the 9 Pro as I had to send it back to Redmagic after my review was finished. But my 8s Pro supports Full HD video now which is a good sign. You'll need to speak with a Redmagic 9 Pro user for confirmation. Basil
