I'm a bit more of a purist and believe that Shredder's origins should have been kept very close to home. I'm up for Shredder being a CEO and businessman who runs the corporate world and also secretly the criminal underworld in Japan. That kind of change can definitely work as it represents Shredder disregarding the traditional ways, while Splinter is the one keeping the old traditions alive and well. But aside from that, Shredder should have been kept more closely to what he know of him, including his connection to Splinter.
We literally saw in the 2 movies that he's Asian, and now they're being so hypocritical? You guys think April is black and how many woke characters came back, But they get angry if they change an Asian or black character and make him white? That's hypocrisy
I'm for different versions changing things up pending if done well. The 03-07 Turtles Shredder was a genocidal Utron alien which to my knowledge was never done before & he's a highly regarded Shredder. Rise's Shredded was a demon with magical powers who only had connection with Splinter & the Turtles as they were part of the Hamato clan but had no direct interaction. In Nolan's Batman trilogy though Batman had a no kill rule he left Ras Al-Ghoul to die while in most versions he would've saved him except for the Michael Keaton/Tim Burton though the idea of Tim Burton saying no deaths in a movie seems pretty ridiculous nowadays
This movie was doomed from the start . Nothing was going to save this turd other then cancelling it and getting a whole new creative crew that actually liked and cared about the characters
We have never got a real memorable Orroku Saki Shredder or Baxter Stockman in the movies thats as Great and iconic as the Heath Ledger and Jack Nicholson Joker in batman 89 or the dark knight even though we have yet to had a comic book accurate joker with a red hood origin, Jean Hackman and Kevin Spacey's Lex Luthor in the Superman films, or Wilhelm Defoe's Green Goblin Alfred Molinas Dr octopus in the Rami Spiderman films, Michael Duncan Clarke Vincient denofrio King pin in Daredevil. They attempted to race and species swap baxter stockman and shredder before they made baxter a ugly caricature stereotypical black nerd in mutant meyhem copying Jamie fox in amazing spiderman 2 giving him a bad perm comb over and the 1987 toon white washed him made him into a fly henchmen to shredder and krang and the original film made him professor perry and had no ambition to adapt issue 2 of the comics cause they wanted to make april her cartoon counter part the 1990s dualogy of films featuring shredder had him mostly in the background and had a made for the movie henchmen tatsu do the bulk of the work and the films skimmed pass the mirage source material skipping events that should've been in sequels instead of crammed into one film.
Would be better if the actor was japanese, but on the movie that we got with that story, would be better if Shredder was Sacks, at least the story would be better.
