    You should dip the pinwheel with the holes in a bubble solution then use it to see if then it will make bubbles

      Bailey Hermann that's a cool idea but the bubbles will hit the tail fin upon exit and besides it wont spin anymore because the bubbles will hinder the side flow of the air

    Hi Devon, You printed a particular pink-and-white pinwheel, that you show at 6:45. You blow on it on the *white* side. Later, at 7:26, you mount this outdoors, but with the *pink* side facing the wind (and get disappointing results).As you may know, most turbines have a preferred side. The way you mount it outdoors, the centrifugal action counteracts the angle-of-attack action, leading to a poor performance. The indoors orientation (blowing on the white side) has the two effects assisting each other (and is therefore the correct orientation for the maximum spin). Cheers!

      My conclusions are based on flat-images of freeze-framed videos. I'd be curious to know if my observation has some truth to it, or is it a case of "nice try but no cigar". :)

    If you print another spiral pinhead, attach them both to the stick in opposite directions and spin both wheels in opposite directions you'll get some crazy cool interferance patterns generated by both wheels! This was my first thought when I saw the video, and I'll def print that as a decoration once I get a printer...

    you should try blender. It's an item software meant for modelling, animating, images and simulations. it has an extremely steep learning curve, but once you get the hang of it, it is extremely powerful. you computer's power is the limit, literally

      Would be neat to see him try it. Been blendering stuff and uploading to Thingiverse, although I'm short of having a 3D printer of my own. (*shrug*)
      The same exact thing in this video could be done in Blender alone. It has beziers. Set them up in 2D mode with closed paths to do most of what Illustrator did, then solidify for depth, and simple-deform twist. Convert to mesh. Export as .stl, and the 3D printer's software can pick it up and produce the extrusion path from there. Perhaps easier (faster?) since you're not hopping and converting between different software as much.

    • @encryptedmaze
      @encryptedmaze 6 лет назад +1

      yeah maybe.... but blender is more for rendering, animation, etc. Solidworks is MUCH better for real life objects, especially due to its simulation tools.

    could you try and design something where if you look at it from one angle it looks one color and then if you look at it from another it appears to be a different color like you'd be looking at the same surface but depending on what angle you viewed it from it would look different colored, but like do it as a whole project specifically for that illusion. (I think it's an illusion at least)

    a bearing for this? a metal insert would have been enough - just make sure that there is no real pressure applied.
    Also while skate-bearings under normal circumstances do need lubricants - here you have no load at all so you can just ignore it.
