- The major solo exhibition by pioneering Chilean artist Alfredo Jaar is now open and runs until 8 April 2018.
Jaar addresses humanitarian trauma and the politics of image-making, creating visually and emotionally stunning works. At YSP three seminal installations transform the Underground Gallery, while on its open-air concourse we premiere an important new work, The Garden of Good and Evil. Kindly donated by the artist and a/political, this installation of growing trees and structures will become a permanent part of the YSP collection.

Incredibly powerful to watch, hope to experience soon. Thank goodness we have artists who can express difficult experiences with such clarity, profound transformation, twisting dark and light to grow into a sun reaching tree. Also reminding us to feel, experience and notice.
I saw this exhibition at Yorkshire Sculpture Park (YSP) back in 2018. I studied GCSE Art & Design at school and achieved a Grade B in it. However, I will admit I did not know much about artwork or appreciate it before. “The Sound of Silence” deeply affected me, particularly the video on Kevin Carter. That is why I looked it up after such time has passed. The minimalism and juxtaposition of light and darkness was very clever. I can appreciate Alfredo’s work now thanks.
Just watched his work about Rwanda genocide ..interesting analysis
This exhibition was fantastic, one of the best in years. I'm a regular here and The Sound of Silence was so moving and jarring, as well as the photograph piece you could take away, it will stay with me for years.
