Just when I thought I wouldn't ever hear good rock music again then these guys come along. They sound amazing. I was a teen during the heart of Classic Rock throughout out the 70s. In my early 30s during the early 90s I was overwhelmed with Grunge. Now in 2023 I came across these guys at age 62. If the older generations rail on to you about how music was better when we were young, well this is exactly what we meant. Yeah, I know, the makeup, the elaborate sets and the dark themes, but the music is great, as well as the vocals, and the lyrics fit perfectly. I now have a new favorite band to add to my list of Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath and Nirvana. I can't wait to see them in concert.
i'm gen x as well and i love ghost. just got tickets to see them in august! psyched. this song in particular really reminds me of ac/dc with maybe a little hit of kansas or boston... which is no bad thing!!
Well this bands music is mostly 60s-80s era type of music. So it mostly explains why they have gotten popular over the years.😅 The dark gothic theme is just a random filter for them. Another band that does exactly this is Lordi😂
@tsohgallik Yeah, you're partially right, but I can't get into the crap metal they push out there these days. Screaming and endless thrashing and shredding just doesn't impress me. I grew up in the 70s listening to Black Sabbath. Iommi's riffs were usually very melodic even if they were loud. Geezer's lyrics are now legendary. Bill's drumming always synchex up well with everyone. And what do you say about Ozzy. Subsequent to Sabbath, I did enjoy Judas Priest and subsequently Metallica, but I wasn't much of a fan of anything Metal through the 80s. Too much spandex and too much hairspray. Ghost is not a pure metal band (whatever that means), and their music is not heavily distorted and often very melodic. I don't want to depend on liner notes to know what a band is singing, which was something that Sabbath did very well in almost all of their songs. It was pretty easy to understand what Ozzy was singing. Maybe I am old school, but there hasn't been a more influential metal band than Sabbath. I find Ghost very refreshing and wish them well.
