ABOUT ME
I’m 32 years old and I’m a sheep farmer from Ayrshire in South West Scotland, which is why I have such a strong accent! I was born and raised on a sheep farm watching my dad who was the shepherd.
At 18 I went away from farming to work in the city (something I still do) and at 23 (2013) I decided I wanted to do something for some extra money so I went on a sheep shearing course. The hardest thing I’ll ever do was learning to shear sheep. [shudders thinking about it]
I shore whilst on my holidays from work for 2 years and then in 2015 my dad died so I decided to get my own sheep so I could continue working with sheep as it was something I loved doing. From there it escalated quickly from my first 4 sheep in my mum’s garden to now running around 850 breeding ewes.
I shore over 19,000 sheep this season in the UK and have my own shearing run which lets you see many different farms in the summer months.
A few years ago I bought myself a sheep pregnancy scanner and have been building up my run since then.
I watched a few farm vlogs on RUclips and decided I could have a go and now here we are!
Thanks for watching my videos and please subscribe if you want to see more in future.
The people complaining need to realize that "content" isn't manufactured here for their pleasure first but rather that they follow a sheep farm as the farmers go about their business at times they are able to work extra with filming. Real life!!! Don't listen to the complaints, Cammy.
I agree! I followed a few channels until I realized they were just content creators and their 'barn' was actually a film set. Now only follow Tom Pemberton also a genuine farm and Zwartbles Ireland Suzanna Crampton a very small sheep farm in Ireland but farmed on regenerative principle lovely videos O have learned a lot and of course Goldshaw Farm because he is just such a decent honest guy.
Love Cammie and Lizzy they work so hard
@marleneclough3173 Just be careful about believing everything Goldshaw says about others. He's vilified farmers for standard practices which have nothing wrong with them, only issue was that he was ignorant on the subject.
Well, said!
"Farmer's" or "Hound Hunters" who run their unleased dogs across farming country WHICH BELONG TO OTHER PEOPLE?
Shearing is part of the sheep work, Cammy! We enjoy watching what you’re willing and able to put out.
Congratulations to Lizzie on the new land. It's good to see new young farmers get into the industry.
Literally don't apologise, the content is perfect! It's actually crazy ambitious of you to film and show us so many areas of your work
Cammy it doesn’t matter if you’re shearing…most of us love it all.❤
Lizzy is a rock ⭐ She is managing the flock, taking care of 2 young lads, housework, shearing sheep as needed, etc. She has earned her muscles‼️👍💯🥰
I know this is 6 months old . But just want to you to know I’m watching you to learn and am so thankful to see you and lizzy working your sheep and teaching your boys the joy of working together!
Looks like Lizzy got herself a very peaceful and secured bit of land. Let's hope we'll be seeing the lambs thrive well here. Good Luck to all of you!
Congratulations to Lizzie on the land & sheep! Nothing to apologise for with the shearing - it's part & parcel of what you do. As you vlog what you do, naturally shearing is a large part of it in summer (and there is always so much to learn, which you are so patient in explaining to all of your non sheep savvy viewers, like myself). Health and happiness to you all. take care ♥
That's how farming is: it's seasonal. When it's time to put up hay, the world stops so you get it put up right. When it's time to shear, you do it day in and day out till you're done! I love what you do and how you are willing to take us with you!!
Your vlogs are an opportunity for me, a city girl, to see how a Scottish farmer gets through his year. I watch regardless of the content because I like all of it. Also Angus is living up to his name, a good healthy boy, and the definition of bonnie lad. Hope you’re all doing well and fingers crossed for good market sells in the upcoming weeks.
Thank so much😁
Enjoyed the video as usual. Thanks.
Thank you so much Cammy, Lizzie, and all. 🙏💜. Good luck Lizzie with your shepherding new lambs. 🙏💞
It's good to hear about your sheep breeding plans. Breeding your own replacement ewes is bound to be better in the long term as you can get the qualities which best suit your land and farming methods.
It's great to see your boys getting introduced to all the farming activities.
Best wishes to you all from sunny Aberdeenshire.
Hi cammy, I think a good video idea would be for you and lizzy to sit and do a video on what your whole farming setup, plan for the future. Who owns what sheep etc I think it would be really interesting to hear
Ok thanks. I'll maybe do a live some evening going over that!
Go with the Cheviot, cross them to whatever you like, we use Suffolk and Charolais as well as the Cheviot, hardy ewes that will work well lambing out, one word of caution we threw out a Cheviot hoggett with six Suffolk rams a few years ago because we had him spare and there were a few more ewes in the bunch than we normally like for the number of rams we had, 255 ewes and almost half of them had a Cheviot lamb, lots had one of each but we were a bit surprised to say the least as the Cheviot didn’t go out on till four or five days after the other boyos, my father always said that a strong Cheviot ram would tip half the country of ewes well he did his best even with plenty of competition.
Keep your eye on that wood lambing outside. I'm plauged by foxes and loose too many lambs born outside coming from neighbours mismanaged grant funded forestry
You both seem to love the mules so much (and for good reason). If you’re going to work with sheep, work with the breed you love.
Agreed!
Agreed!
I also agree!
Congratulations Lizzie & Cammy on enquiring more land. Angus you are such a lovely wee lad. No complaints from me as I love your content whether its sheep work, shearing or shows etc. You are vlogging your everyday life & banter and that's what this channel is about. I love shearing videos & I've subscribed to your shearing channel. Keep doing you, Cammy!
Thanks so much
It's so cool that you share your thought process out loud. Makes it more real. Thank you!!
Yea Lizzy! Did I hear correctly, you have sheep of your own on land YOU have rented? That means the PROFIT is yours. Absolutely FANTASTIC!!
Nothing like an enterprising woman!! Wishing you the very best of luck in all your endeavors!! You are one very sharp lady!!
08/20/23
As loads of people have said, I watch you simply to see what you get up to day to day. If that involves shearing sheep, then that's fine! I find it quite therapeutic watching you all shear the sheep! Keep it going Cammy, look forward to your next video
Lizzy is incredible, love how everything is important and special to her. Motherhood, shepherdess and more.
Nice video and news that your expanding and you and Lizzie have more land. Congrats and sendings blessings your way for lots of success. Love watching the sheering and hearing about the different breeds and what they’re best for. ❤❤
Hi Cammy! So good to see you, Lizzie and Angus! His hair is so cute! Whatever subject your video is-I’m here for it! Love all that you do, your banter, and how you explain why you do things the way you do! I’m not a sheep farmer 😂but I find it all fascinating! You guys work so hard. ❤Much love to the Cam fam from South Carolina!❤
I absolutely love the shearing - that's the reason I began watching your channel. I'm glad to hear that you love shearing as well!! Thanks for all of your fantastic videos, I have learned so much about sheep. Best from New York.
Complaining about shearing? What? I love shearing vids!! I don’t understand any complaints at all. I have been watching since the beginning and there has changes in the farm but I have loved watching you develop and grow as a farm. I know it has to be hard reading complaints but really those of us that have been here for a long time really love your family and your farm! Y’all are just lovely. Thank you Cammy, Lizzy, wee Jock and Angus.
Thanks very much. Appreciate the continued support!
Any content from you family and team is great Cammy.
Great work pal. 💪🏼👌🏼👍🏼
Keep the shearing and your regular sheep maintenance on the vlog. It’s part of sheep farming. Love it!
Never apologize. I think we are all here for you and your family no matter what you do.
Congrats on the new land Cammy/Lizzy,i'm sure you will make the right choice on what to breed, lambing outside is much easier and less work,im looking forward to seeing what choice you make take care.
Whatever you do ..we ll all watch and enjoy…it’s called life. Congrats to Lizzie
Cammy you love them mules! Whatever you do, just do whatever you think you’ll enjoy the most. It’s tough going out there anyway.
Are you kidding? I love shearing videos. Great video as always. Much love for all of you from Oregon USA
Congratulations Lizzy! You are a super hero to so many people. Out of all the roles you are all ready do... ( mother, wife, sheep shear, ect...) you have taken on another out standing role as a buisness owner. You are an excellent role model. Keep up the hard work.
Cammy, just keep posting the videos that you love. You have grown in skill and content by making videos you love... keep going and never..ever.. acknowledge those haters again. They don't deserve your time. Stay happy and confident knowing you are doing what you love.
Very kind of you.... I just need to get Lizzy Vlogging now! =D
I enjoy all of your videos: sheering, scanning, and lambing. I also love seeing wee Jock and Angus, they are so cute!! Thank you Cammy and Lizzy!
I love the Sheep Game because I enjoy your personality and your friends Cam. The sheep are window dressing on the enjoyable banter. It really doesn’t matter what you’re doing!😊
Love the shearing work as it comes with the banter of the group.
I just watched this one twice, thre was so much going on and I didn't want to miss anything. Angus getting his first shearing lesson was precious. You and Lizzy are awesome parents, and amazing farmers. I love every one of your videos. Just remember, you'll never make the complainers happy! That's a life choice they make. For every negative comment, there are thousands of us who admire what you do, and want to learn about all aspects of your life. Love you all ❤.
Morning to you Mr Cammy .. as always a great video .. loved the beautiful filming shooting captured and I really appreciate and enjoy watching your lifestyle documentary video adventure, keep it up my friend .. Merci beaucoup Monsieur
Cammy, I so enjoy anything you put up for us to see….shearing, lambing, Lizzie, your boys….such lovely adventures. Haven’t any opinion about the breeds you should get tho, since I’ve only ever seen sheep from a distance. Whenever you post a video I learn something I never knew and am fascinated by it all. Must be since I cked my phone at 4am and was overjoyed to see a new posting. Well done Lizzie taking on your own land and flock! Angus reminds me of one of my own grandsons with his sweet round face and energy! Whatever you’re able to video and post is interesting to me, and I love learning something entirely new. Thank you, from Nashville Tennessee. I’m a retired ICU nurse, and love learning the ways of sheep farming from someone that loves what they do. Best to all and I’m forever in awe of Lizzie! 💪🏻🫶🏻
Cracking video as always. You are a straight up and honest guy
Cammi, we are here to see the sheep farming life. Shearing is a big part of that. Keep showing what you do. I for one enjoy it all!
Don’t apologize for the content Cammy! Watching the cycle of the year through the farm is excellent the way it is!
I love watching you shearing your sheep. That's why I'm here. And to see how a family farm gets along.
I love your shearing day videos, your lambing day videos, your dosing day videos, your scanning days, and your sales. I’m just happy to have you bring me along. You are a wonderful break from two months above a hundred degrees here in Dallas, Texas in USA. All that green is balm for both the eyes and the soul.
Glad you like them and thank you. We have lots of rain here but it's good for the grass!
I love all the videos you make no matter what the content! Then again, as the granddaughter of farmers, I understand that the work is seasonal and you do what needs to be done at that time of the year. So, thank you for taking the time to share the realities of farm life with the sheep!
Beautiful piece of land!
And wee Angus!🤣 what a scamp!
Thanks so much for sharing all you do as sheep farmers. It’s all about the circle of life and your growing lovely family and your life. Keep up the great work. I personally love to see all the aspects of what you do and how you manage. ❤️
Ohhh I do have a weakness for Cheviots and Suffolks so this was a treat. I suppose the odder and sprting odd features the more curious I get and a Cheviot... Bold looks and Suffolk with their dark "points" is even more eyecatching. (Black Texel...wow!) Finding the proper flock that will be easy to manage and easy to watch over will be a challenge. Something that takes good care of you if you take good care of them!
I love to watch you shear, it’s how I found you and Sandi, Joanna from Dale Farm, Joanna (Karol’s sister), Karol, and Right Choice Shearing. Somehow Tom Pemberton, Hoof GP, and Scotland Unplugged snuck in there too. All from watching sheep shearing. Until last fall had never seen a shearing in person, but the man who delivers hay for my horse has a small flock, and shears in Washington and Idaho States here in the US. He had a demo day at a local museum and brought 4 sheep to shear. It was fun to watch in person.
Thanks for the video. You & everyone else work so hard. God bless you all.
Don't know why you feel you need to apologise Cammy, as you are just showing us how thing's can change day to day in real life when you're a sheep farmer.
Plus I for one really did enjoy the video. 👍
You don't need to apologize to Cammie. You are working you can't always pick and choose the videos you know people will love I'm just happy whatever you choose to show 🩷💙🩵🩵
You two make beautiful babies.
Hello from Alabama USA! I just wanted to let ya know just how much I love your videos! Your farm is beautiful and love your sense of humor. Keep those videos coming, you have a beautiful family and it’s wonderful that you include them in your videos!
Cammy you’re some buck ! Keep the videos coming. We are farming Wicklow Cheviots here in Wicklow and hitting them with a Suffolk.
You guys love that. We have some Wicklow cheviots and Chev suff in my next video coming Tuesday!
L love ❤️ the clonmany show cap we were brought up attending that show each year great video well done
I just like watching whatever content you pay out ❤
I knew what u meant Elaine lol
I enjoy hearing you talk about your future plans, Cammy. I don't know enough to have an opinion, but I'll pray that God guides you to the best decision. I hope that you all, especially Megan, are keeping well! ❤
I love everything use to raise sheep so I am aware of the work. Love watching your shearing.
Farming of any kind is rarely predictable, and anyone who thinks it is has never spent time on one ! I've lost count of schedules blown because a goat was having troubles kidding, or hung in a fence; or torn apart my barn ! Predators get in the coops, and have to be repaired quickly, and it's rarely something we can schedule in, right ? We start the days with a rough idea of what needs to be done, and just wing it from there ! I enjoy watching the shearing, along with everything else that goes along with sheep farming.
No apologies necessary I love all your videos that you put out great video Cammy 💪👌
Best of luck with the new ground,
Nice to see you promoting ( THE FORGOTTEN COUNTY) Cammy , we all in Donegal appreciate it , enjoy Clonmany
Cammy..it’s sheep farming life…you have to do what you have to do…I find shearing therapeutic to watch..
Looking forward to your next vlog 😊
I enjoy watching whatever the day may bring
I like the shearing. ❤
Never apologise for a shearing video! I could honestly watch them for hours. 😁
And hours and hours. I’d love a live stream with no filters and no worries about us watching. Just the sound of the clippers and people working is calming.
I'll get my ewe lamb sheared that we're keeping after seeing this thanks Cammy! Makes sense to keep them clean especially here in ayrshire with our wet weather! ❤
I enjoy every video you put out, no matter what content it contains!!! You have a beautiful little family and you work very hard to produce these videos... thank you!!!
Great video, as always. Good to see Angus supervising, what a cutie. Congratulations to Lizzy in growing the business. 8:30
Your Lizzie is a gem! You are blessed to have such a wonderful life partner.
We love it all don't worry about it😊
Thank you for another enjoyable video … congratulations on the new land ❤
I enjoy all your videos regardless of content. It’s fun to watch what you do with sheep. I know it’s not just the fun stuff but all the work that goes with it. It’s good to have Angus and little Jock watch what you do. That way they can learn your trade if they do wish to follow in your steps. 🥰👍
I think its good to get lambs used to being sheared !❤
A boy Cammy another good video 👍.
Love watching the Sunday morning videos during breakfast.
Many benefits to shearing lambs, I think it's a good thing. Only down side is you end up with more wool that is absolutely worthless.
There is a shepherd in here in British Columbia, Canada, who is starting a business of selling pelleted sheep wool as a high-quality fertilizer. She bought one of the machines used to make feed pellets and after some work figured out how to use the wool. The thing I love is she has found the dirtier the wool, the better the pellets. Right now she is targeting the city dweller who has houseplants. The pellets not only break down and enrich the soil, they also hold water in the soil so the plants don't near watering as often.
Her next step is buying a larger machine that could handle bulk orders of the pellets. Apparently she has a large crowd of shepherds very excited about having a market for their wool.
Is there any consideration made for the taste/quality of the meat at the end of the food chain production? Do you ever get feedback from the abattoir/stockist on which breeds they prefer for end product or even more specifically can you work out which of your paddocks/feed plans are producing the best quality lamb cuts?
I'm not a shepherd, so I wouldn't presume to tell you and Lizzie how to run your business. Imho, shearing lambs is an opportunity for more shearing practice (not that either of you need that) and it teaches the lambs how to be shorn so that when they're grown it's not a surprise to them. Congratulations to Lizzie on her acquisition. May it serve her well!
Love all the videos Cammy ❤
If you are looking for a contrast to sheep, with plain daily farm activity, give Farmer Tyler Ranch a look. Very different conditions on a Northern California small cattle operation.
Have you thought about selling the wool you shear? You don't have to go as far into it as Sandi Brock and make it into yarn, but it would provide a little extra money for something you probably discard anyway. A lot of people who knit and crochet would love local yarn. Just a thought. Congratulations Lizzy! That is fantastic. See you guys in the next one.
Thanks Becky, It's just a time factor. far easier to sell it through the local wool board. I'm doing a video soon about how much I made from my wool in 2022.
Love the shearing vids ❤
Wouldn't have a clue which choice to recommend for your future but was fascinated to hear ye lay it out like that. A real insight into the sheep game on The Sheep Game. Whichever way yez go ye have my support. Best, Mark
Cammy, you know and I know there's only 1 way to go......
Cheviots, cheviots and more cheviots just think of the shape you'll be in for this coming rugby season...........
See you guys on the 13th of September for Lockerbie, North country cheviot Park sale 😅
Go the premium gimers guys, you’ll get a kick out of it and good money, especially with your platform. And you have options with them. I do love the buying and selling videos too 🤣🤣
3:50AM in Idaho USA. I really look forward to your videos.
😊👍👍 I will watch whatever content you post as it is always great. l am sure you and Lizzy will make the fight decision about your flocks. Adorable Angus is looking more and more like Wee Jock ❤️
Great news about the new land. I would love to see the closed flock option - but will be interested whatever you decide
The price of cheviot mule ewe lambs and gimmers would make it tempting for you to go down that route. As for white faced home breds, check out Easydams if you’ve not seen them before. 100% NZ genetics. We’ve been crossing them with an Aberfield for the last 3 years with some fantastic results. Breeding a nice compact white headed ewe that lambs with little intervention. Planning to continue to cross between them and Aberfields. Hopefully even sell some breeding females in the future. Having total control of breeding characteristics and health status is an absolute winner for me.
Why did the phase "Hairdresser" pop in to my head :)
Loving the videos guys :)
Hi Cammy. Would Lleyns tick the box for a wee generic white faced sheep that would lamb away outside?
Shearing the ewe lambs is a great job...👌
Lleyns are a strange breed. You get smaller ones doing the 180% job then big soft things doing 200%+. It is on the shortlist though.
I'd definitely give them a go but the best of luck to yourself and Lizzy whatever you end up doing 👌
Luv ya Cammy!!!
Best of luck to you both with new ground. Always enjoy all your videos especially the ones at market. Try some of each type sheep and see what works best for you.
Beautiful countryside
Enjoyed
Love the hat Cammy!!
go go girl! go Lizzie!!!
Вот это женщина и за ребёнком следить и мужу помогать!!!!
Congratulations on taking on more land just be careful you don't burn yourselves out working too hard as for breeding I like Cheviots or mules as my late grandad used to say everyone's breed is the best so breeding your own replacements might be the best idea
Congrads Lizzy
