Kickin’ Back is one of the funkiest songs from pianist & composer Bob James and saxophonist Kirk Whalum's contemporary jazz album 'Joined at the Hip', Propelled by Chris Walker’s percussive bass alongside James's piano riff, the main theme of the track. This jazz funk composition is sure to get stuck in your mind from the very first listen.
The new 2019 Remastered edition lets you hear the whole band like never before. With Jeff Golub on guitar and drummer Billy Kilson supplying back beat on drums. The new remaster was done using the Hi-Res audio mixes, originally recorded at the Hit Factory in New York City in 1996.

Funky jazz or jazzy funk or soul infused jazz or... Grew up on Bob James. (mid 70s) Melodic and improv master. Sweet compositions to boot. Lifts my soul and raises my goosebumps. Love those horns. Staccato and crisp. Fell in love with Kirk Whalum in the mid 80s. I find his sound all his own. Sweet, 'gospelly', husky, tasty, inventive/creative and soulful. Just wow. I'll go so far as to say this music art is a life essential! Thank you Messrs James and Whalum!

✔️ En 1996 Bob James y Kirk Whalum publicaron juntos "Joined At The Hip", un estupendo álbum que fue remasterizado en 2019 con motivo de una gira conjunta a Japón, 9️⃣ temas que suenan tan bien como este "Kickin' Back" con la guitarra de Hiram Bullock.
😍 En el álbum, producido por James, disfrutamos además de la guitarra de Jeff Golub y la batería de Billy Kilson. Desde mediados de los ochenta James 🎹 y Whalum 🎷 han participado en varias ocasiones en los álbumes de cada uno.
