Even if Hunter was just +Mobility he's still a worthy inclusion on the campaign. With his buffs to beasts and his combat abilities he's essential from the start to the end. He is happy though that the bruiser is there specifically to duke it out with tough enemies. Also really likes pairing up with a Great Maw butcher. Big chonking heroes is good, but Big chonking heroes that can both be healed, buffed and serve as bait when it's time to drop the great maw is even better.
I've found It's best to use them to harass single entities to weaken them or goad them into rushing ahead of the rest of the army (Depending on the speed of the unit). a good opportunity to snipe them early in the battle.
It has to go hand in hand with tying down the enemy's ranged. That's less the Hunter's job than the beasts the Hunter boosts. Then he can pick stuff off at will. But yeah, there's a reason I play up how big a deal Bruisers are for the faction. They're a lot simpler to use.
They follow the rest of the army on the charge towards the enemy but don't join the clash. While your melee characters pin down big targets or lords, he helps by peppering them from afar.
I really like having one for Golgfag. Try focusing military on the techtree, get the vanguard deployment for Mournfangs and have this guy on hid Stone Horn leading the charge with his own vanguard deployment. Get Golgfag a nice strong force of Golgfag man-eaters for ultimate vanguard shenanigans.
I guess CA likes cats more since they can summon those saber tusks. Hunter still a great hero though more so since before most would have one for movement and the stonehorn.

Yeah, anything they can bring past those two things is great, but those two things are extremely useful regardless...
