    Thank you to the guys who video these fires. The content is a valuable tool to incorporate into an after-action critique. Departments should be looking at these videos and asking questions like, what went well and where can we make changes to our operations and tactics. That said, I’m probably going to upset some people with my following statements and questions. Those who know me know that I am a firm believer that in just about all instances FOG nozzles do not belong on tower ladders and ladder pipes. Smooth bore nozzles are better suited for their reach and penetration. Even fog nozzles on a straight stream setting do not have the same reach and penetration. In the video we can see that there is a smooth bore nozzle working along with a fog nozzle from the tower ladder bucket. The smooth bore appears to be a 1 ½ inch tip (600 gpm @ 80 psi np). It appears that the nozzle is being over pressurized because the stream is breaking up as it leaves the tip. [Yes, I was there an watched this all night]. So, for those of you who utilize both a smooth bore nozzle along with a fog nozzle from the buckets of your tower ladders I am asking the following question: Can you regulate the nozzle pressure for each nozzle independently from the basket?

    I am going to post this on both sites who had video of the fire.
    Also, the one gentleman was warned about using a drone by PD. I would encourage incident commanders to open up their command posts to these videographers and have them fly their drones from the CP and use their drone feed at the command post in real time. Not sure if there are legal or insurance issues in doing this, but it is something to open up for discussion.

      Good post ! Your questions and concerns are fair and not done in belittling or condescending way . Also , I think your point about the possibility of being able to get this guy into some command posts to film aerial shots with his drone is a good idea .. I think it would def help the IC get the whole picture of what’s going and be good to review. Well said 👍

    Looked on google maps street view to see what it originally looked like.
    It's a hoarder's house, the porch has been turned into an outdoor storage unit, and you can even see their car is so packed, the back window is blocked!

      Random cop walking around the scene we talked after and figured it out it was more me not giving him time to talk to me but on scene I’m busy filming making sure my shot is correct not talking to police about a drone in my hand.

    Lots of fires in PLP lately. I live right down the street from the fire that occurred on Laketree Ct a few weeks ago. Walked over to that one as they were putting it out.

    The ladder lines are not being used effectively. A deck gun would help a lot unless there is a water supply issue.

    When the small town cops chase everyone away its often because the town is trying to hide something or is concerned there will be something to hide. Ive seen this way too many times in NJ.

    OMG, please stop narrating your calls with useless information. Once again, we can all see there is heavy fire in the attic etc.. Please remember the Patrolman has a job to do. He has no clue who you are. Perhaps, you should introduce yourself to the departments in which you intend to cover. Then, they may allow you better access within the scene. Otherwise, your videos are fantastic!

    The drone has nothing to do with free press it has to do with safety he was told he could fly it just not right over the fire. Why are some of you trying to make it something of it?

      In most cities in Canada, civilians are usually not permitted past within one block of a fire. All you see is flames and smoke over the rooftops and on the horizon. Even reporters are usually not allowed near until the fire is practically all out.

    • @davidbott9401
      @davidbott9401 Год назад +1

      @@bobvidoni5898that's probably because they don't have freedom of the press in Canada like we have in America.

      @davidbott9401 we do have freedom of press in Canada but sometimes authorities don't allow them too close depending on the situation. I know of a RUclipsr who records our departments fires & most times we don't care as long as he is not in our way & sometimes police have told him record from further away.

    Although I enjoy watching the American fire fighting videos, I have to confess that I now watch them in 2 x speed. It is the only way I can pretend that I see any sense of urgency with ANY American fire brigade when fighting fires. They usually turn up mob handed, with all the gear, then proceed to pussyfoot about, seemingly forgetting that the object of the exercise is to get water on the fire ASAP. The 10 - 15 year old videos show much more determination in getting the fires under control. Maybe it is a case of too many cooks!!!
