Just got to the dlc and did all the board side quests. Man this game is a refreshing challenge. The dodging system at first had me frustrated but the challenge it provided and forcing you to really watch your position and timing made it a great challenge. Some parts felt impossible but through learning and strategizing everything was possible. It felt very rewarding and I love this game
i thought the bosses jump attacks were a little too fast and unbalanced for those i felt like i was running underwater compared to them the game is excellent overall
Compared to HK, Tails of Iron's platforming is non-existent lol, it's as basic as it can avoid the environment being a straight hallway. Combat feels very smooth, probably because it's also simplified, as you only have light and heavy attacks dealing pretty much the same damage, with differences in range and hit delay (there are also ranged weapons but you wont be using them that often)
yea, I finished the game today on normal difficulty, It was overwhelming due to the dodging but maybe that's how the game works. I would appreciate it if the devs improve on the clunky and annoying parts of the game in Tails Of Iron 2.
@@hollow_zonaaa yea, dodging can be annoying, but once you figure it out, you can beat any enemy/boss with ease. The thing is that dodge works differently from other games I know. How is it usually? 1 press on dodge - you do a short dodge, 2 presses on dodge button - long dodge with more i-frames, but in ToI it works differently. When you press the dodge once, Redgi does a LONG slide on the floor, while if you press the second time DURING this animation, he will do a SHORT roll, which gives "immunity" to AOE attacks in return for shorter range. So, where I'm getting to: you can't spam dodge in this game, because it will only start the dodging animation (first press), and then immediately go into rolling phase (second press), making such dodge too short to actually dodge anything lol. Once I realized this, I figured out that you can basically slide across the WHOLE battle arena if you time it properly: press once, wait for Redgi to slide, at the end of the slide press dodge again, and it extends by adding a roll in the end, making it a very good move

It's currently 90% off on steam, so yeah a great deal.

Great review! Really loved this game. Speaking of Rat story driven action games; I highly suggest you review at some point.
?
Did you play hollow knight? How does it compare in terms of platforming/lack of it, and how the combat feels?

Great game.
Don't start on the hardest difficulty. It'll beat the fun out of you before you win.
