Hello Apollo. I've been a subscriber for at least 3 years, love the channel. You cover battles better than any body else, most keep a overhead view and you can't see the action up close. I would how ever like to see what the oil attracts by the gates looks like. If you have already shown that please let me know what video it was in. Thanks for the hard work, glad you didn't give up on total war. Keep up the good work.
1 of the best battles I've ever seen. Loved the tactics, how the teams worked together, the ambushes rlly great and wow 3 or 4 of the generals got a ton of kills rlly amazing battle to see soo many experienced players fight against each other
Apollo I posted this late on the last video so I figured id try it again here. I think that a cool addition would be a player of the game which would be a player who had good teamwork or a great tactic or didn’t give up the entire fight. It would be a good way to encourage that behavior in more players
He has a video like that. He posted a vid wheee a Sparta player had to fight a 1 V 2 defense vs Rome because his teammate disconnected and the Spartans player fought till the end. I think the title of the video is something to the effect of his teammate left him and he fought on!
Hey Pixelated Apollo, just wondering if we can get a battle of edington remake in one of your videos, just wondering. Love your vids and you deserve more subscribers
@JT Gaming same i have been a subscriber since 2017 and he has only gained 100k whereas itsfunnehnand mr beast get 100k every week but hey the topic is different but apollo still should get more subs
Apollo I’d like to let you know that amazon is creating a new middle earth series set in the 2nd age! I think it’s pretty cool and you should probably watch it when it’s released! I’d also like to add some stuff you might add to your lore: The goblins defeated scramble back to the mountains. The goblin king is displeased but notices another target... The dwarves of Erabor not notified of the recent battle are still neutral, The goblins realize this and begin a mining project to mine through the mountain right into the dwarves castle in the mountain, this project will take very long but a full siege of erabor is prepared as a diversion as goblins would attack form the outside to draw there forces and once the tunnel is complete BOOM goblins smash into the kings hall inside the dwarves castle and caught off guard much of the dwarves supplies and treasury is stolen, but if the dwarves fall is up to the players.

Carthage's little push probably cost the battle. Falling back to the last two choke points with those two infantry units likely would have changed the outcome. That said, I totally would have made the same mistake they did and freely admit it. :D

how is it good? Every battle turns into a moshpit because of a lack of unit cohesion, maps are ass, there's very little unit diversity and heroes are like Three Kingdom leftover rags. Then again, I'm glad at least someone is having fun with it :D
@@pawestachyra9618 It's good due to being the complete opposite of what you stated. Excellent battles. Excellent map design. Extremely well improved and refined unit diversity. It's the best all around design of any TW. The caveat is that there's no cavalry, and the chariots are ridiculous. But when completely ignoring chariots, it's the absolute best combat design hands down. You're not going to learn one faction, and be good at another due to how different they play. Odysseus is my favorite, and fairly difficult playstyle to learn based on stealth and flanking. Aneas uses a rush and swarm design that is super fun. Some of the designs in this game are carried over from WH, but they significantly improved everything with tons of refinement and new mechanics. No other TW can compare to the AI in Troy combat as well as the campaign faction interactions. For the campaign side, it's almost like you're playing chess. This is because of how much depth there is in the diplomacy regarding nearly 20 dozen factions on the map, two major faction coalitions of the Trojan War. With all others with their own agendas. Combat ai isn't perfect. It will still do stupid ai stuff. But hands down, much smarter than previous games. The ai in Troy will defeat the ai in previous games when playing on even difficulty level. It's just smarter. Everything you're saying seems to be somebody who has never played this game. Because it's as wrong as wrong can possibly be. Troy is an excellently designed game.
@@pawestachyra9618 Says the one actually incorrect. You cannot respond with anything when you have absolute nothing. Which I know for a fact because there is nothing. How do I know? @@shatteredknight1129 You seem awfully upset about that piece of garbage game :P Now I have a bit more time so let's get to it: 1. Battles are ass. The game uses a 64bit version of the engine with all of the tweaks made for WH games. I can appreciate better framerate, but what works well with dragons, orcs, and whacky war machines doesn't fit infantry battles at all. All units basically behave the same - when they join shields with the enemy, they start blobbing, losing any semblance of formation. This happens with almost any unit (with some elite-unit exceptions) and totally ruins any feeling of having clear battlelines like in much better titles - Rome 2 or Attila. Moreover, since individual fighters are not locked in combat it not only ruins any sort of visual immersion but also makes unit collision a buggy mess, with light units just running through your formation like they don't even care. There's zero feeling of any struggle of an actual battle taking place. Just blobs clashing. I don't know what were you drinking when you mention diversity, but the lack of it is even more painful than in other saga titles (or Shogun & 3K), since it's not only the issue of rosters being similar but also a lot of unit types being functionally non-existent (cav) ruining any balance. You can say that it's a matter of bronze age warfare, but then again it's NOT a historical title, plus the problem are the strange limitations of who you can recruit based on your faction. AI is a bit better on higher diffs, but those are the changes that were already in 3K. Maps are horrible, with most settlements being variants of some weird 3-lane design, making them functionally similar to Warhammer sieges (which are notoriously bad). Troy as a city is a great disappointment. I like the different approaches you can take, but the battle map is just slightly bigger than a normal city with a very bleak and uninspired design. Heroes are underdeveloped on the battlefield. They don't have neither the fun shit WH characters got to work with nor utility general units have in 32bit version of the engine. They're just boring, unrealistic behemoths killing enemies by the dozens. Oh, and every single battle, after the enemy breaks, turns into stupid mickey mouse chase after these horrible heroes just so that they don't come back in a couple of turns. It's boring. 2. Campaign has multiple issues. It's railroaded - it's basically: phase 1: playable factions conquer their immediate vicinity phase 2: they ally each other and start a war with the other block. You can be contrarian and not join one side of the other, but in general, it always ends up like this. AI on the campaign map is as stupid as ever, with low aggressiveness past the initial attacks in war, full stacks just circling around without purpose, and cohesive coordinated attack (like, you know, the "historical" siege of troy) being almost an impossibility. You talk about "new mechanics" and factions being unique, but it all sounds like a fucking marketing talk. Diplomacy got gutted - it still has some of the improvements from 3K, but this time leaders you interact with have zero personality compared to 3K. New economy does not fit Total War at all and I hope these stupid resources were a one-time thing. In every campaign, I played, regardless of which one of the two higher difficulties it was, resources were either a pace-killer pain in the ass or irrelevant. For the first few turns, you have a lot of shortages, but after turns 40-60 you're probably so rich, that shortage is not even a word anymore. Instead, you get spammed by diplo requests for resources that make irritating Rome 2 AI begging to seem like a nice change of pace. It also makes no sense that you lose troops after a minor shortage of bronze. Each turn is approx. a month and it make Z E R O sense that you troops start randomly dropping like flies because there's no bronze for a couple of weeks in your state. You can't even explain this by "lack of equipment", because armors/weapons didn't magically dissolve while marching. A for the "uniqueness" - pure bullshit. There's almost no difference with exception of a couple of available units. Most of the unique mechanics are just shit that war ripped straight from 3K, and it's almost always irrelevant after a while. Example: as Achilles you have two mechanics - your mood and rivals for the title of the greatest fighter in the world. In theory, it should change the playstyle so that you treat your Achilles army more like a warband going with him to challenge dudes and burn or pillage here or there. Instead, you can very easily just set you Achilles to the mood you want (preferably the one with a bonus to battles) and roll with it. Ass for rivals - by the time I finished campaign my Achilles was still a top dog, but he only killed... one challenger in total. At the beginning of the campaign. The rest of the were just randomly dropping like flies. Nice "unique mechanics" you got there Total War. Others are also simple af - the second campaign I finished was Paris and it was the joke as well, with me just playing bob the builder and dropping palaces everywhere. The missions are a bloody joke. "Move your character to x". There aren't even any battles waiting for you there like in Warhammer. Just a whole lot of nothing. They only had 8 factions, 8 characters to work with, almost zero differences in mechanics, yet they couldn't even make any unique missions. Troy is a fucking joke that no one would touch if it wasn't literally given away for free. By the time the MP arrives people will luckily forget this piece of trash ever existed :P
I just got an Ad on this video that was completely wrong and tried to tell me that the middle finger swear origin came from English longbow men doing it in defiance to the French. That’s wrong that’s where the swear word of two fingers came from and why you have to be careful doing a universal peace sign in the UK because the French used to cut off our bow fingers so in defiance we would stick both fingers up to the French like haha you can’t catch me Frenchie. Middle finger is a more universal swear than that.
Pixie you do realize that the time at the bottom right is only time left for live battles and is just replay time left for replays. They still had 10 minutes or so left at the end. Like so he can see.
I feel like every faction who can't field archers is already at a disadvantage against the elite archers like Nabataean, Cretan and Syrian. For example, the Celtic factions. Great battle though, you can see there are really good players in it!
Is there some kind of total war and/or Rome 2 community where new players can join in and participate in battles like this? I’ve only ever done single player campaigns and battles but this looks really fun!
Im glad he's uploading more Rome 2, fun to watch good players battle it out!
