Hi. I am a second year student studying architecture in South Africa and our recent brief is to create a 'climate shelter' an the lecturers keep stressing that your concept needs to be specific
Very helpful info on architecture concept. I did learn something new from your video! Thank you so much and I am looking forward to see more videos like this in the future :)
Libeskind did not design One World Trade Center in New York. He won the competition to design all the buildings on at Ground Zero, but because of politics, the Transit Authority agreed to use only his master plan. David Childs of SOM designed One World Trade.
Hi Natalie You have really help me figuring design 3... the fact is as a future architect I'm not designing a building.. I'm creating spatial quality and Intrigue within the space...thank and your are a total hottie...😘
You mentioned something about creating your own (hopefully) sustainable architecture. Have you made a video discussing environmental architecture? E.i., how architecture can impact the environment, "Smart Cities," sustainable materials, new eco-friendly designs that are already being built in the world... I don't know exactly, but I was thinking about going into architecture specifically for sustainable living and re-imagining suburbia.
I don't like the current World Trade Center complex. I much prefer the vintage one. Why, you may ask? The old complex had the impact where it counted in the Twin Towers, and had four other buildings all designed by the same architect in the same consistent, overarching and cohesive vision, which was to surround a roughly four-acre plaza. The current one, it just feels disjointed due to the lack of one singular architect and vision. David Childs, lord Norman Foster, Bjarke Ingels, Richard Rogers, Fumihiko Maki, and Kohn Pedersen Fox all have at least designed and completed one building in the complex, not to mention the 9/11 memorial, which had 4 more entities dedicated to designing the memorial and museum. Minoru Yamasaki designed the entire complex pretty much on his own. Only 7 World Trade Center, which was really just an annex building, was designed by another firm. There is no real consistent design language apart from plate-glass windows, which Minoru Yamasaki hated himself because they would trigger his fear of heights. I would have rebuilt the Twin Towers, only taller and stronger, with built-in fire prevention measures, memorial pools on the first basement level like a chapel, and a slightly more elevated plaza to allow traffic from Greenwich and Fulton streets to pass below, which is really just better traffic engineering. As for the surrounding buildings, I would have rebuilt them to reflect the updated priorities. They themselves would be strengthened and positioned as to not cut off traffic from Fulton or Greenwich.

I think Liebeskind didn't design One WTC; he designed the 9/11 memorial master plan tho but only at the concept stage.
Do we need to study history in architectural engineering?
you need to study history yes(: It's important to know!!
Everytime working on concept i need to go from the first ...starting from what isss concept..everytime😅
the STRUGGLE is REAL lol
I love your videos! Thank you for sharing your knowledge :)
More than happy to help out!! Let me know if I can make a video covering another topic you’d like!!(:

You are so welcome(:
How do you come up with a workable theme and does it drives your design????
What is the best architecture magazine to have subscription for?
