‘Damaged’ Review Aside from Samuel L Jackson, There Isn’t Much to Love Here

Damaged is a by-the-numbers crime thriller that follows Dan Lawson, a homicide detective, as he investigates a series of murders in Scotland. Despite Samuel L. Jackson's performance, the film lacks creativity and originality. The ending is predictable and lacks a sense of excitement. The characters are not as accessible, and the lead character, an alcoholic hardened by years on the job, feels lazy. Gianni Capaldi's portrayal of Lawson's Scottish counterpart, Glen Boyd, is also serviceable. While the film is entertaining, it does not stand out from the rest of the genre. It is a formulaic affair that may appeal to those who are not looking for anything beyond run-of-the-mill thriller tropes.
