I have an A02 bought by my dad to my grandma, I can guarantee that phone is barely usable nowadays, installing apps take forever, the UI barely have any animation at 720p and I have to use adb to reduce the resolution to 480p to reduce the SoC load. It's still fun to use a slow phone from time to time even I have a S23.
I had that too and the android 11 update absolutely destroyed that thing
Agree I bought the A04 back then I barely had money I could spent on phone worst experience ever it's much better to buy used phone then buying A0 series in such desperate situations as mine
Your grandma doesn't need fast phone but better quality. Why did you reduce resolution? What you should do is reduce the animation and debloat the phone.

I mean I get it's supposed to be budget, super cheap phone, but even for me, who doesn't really have much standards when it comes to performance, it was horrible...

I believe that the fingerprint scanner alone is a huge upgrade. But it's a feature the A0x series should have had years ago 😅
To sum the video really quick only difference between the two phones a05 and a06 the new one has fingerprint scanner and it thinner.

Also has the Samsung KNOX security build in, and in the speed test between the A05vs A06 the A06 was faster. So to sumerise, A06 has a fingerprint sensor, it is slimer, faster than A05 and has KNOX security which is a big win over the A05.
I guess the a06 was updated a little to match how the other A-series looks. At least it has a fingerprint scanner...
And has Samsung KNOX security build in ,which is a big Update imo...

Not much may be different from the 05 to 06, but for those who hold a phone for 4-6 years, they appreciate the newsr latest release for the years of upgrades.
Why did they even release the A16
Because for some reason they need to release a phone every year even though last years phone is still being sold and has literally no difference with the new one
So they could remove the headphone jack
It's a Cash Grab. They know 60-70% of people will upgrade each year just to have the "new" phone even if it's the same as the last one just because they want to be like others and have the newest device. I only update when I see something that is diff and updated. I do get new phones but they have to be different and new. Right now I have the Samsung S24 FE and I plan to keep that for awhile.
A16 Has Display Protection and ip dust protection.
On the other hand A15 Display glass has no protection. Literally nothing just a normal glass.
Search A15 Drop test. You will understand. Although A16 has bigger display than the A15.
A16 looks worse than a15 arguably
After reading the a06 specs I got the A05 because it's the same phone 😂 the only difference is the finger print sensor
7:42 yes, they probably do actually have a bucket of old chips to use. like actually. thats why they do things like this. theres hardly any r&d involved, most of the phone is already built, its just a matter of sourcing correct cheap parts that get slight updates year over year and slightly updating the phone to fit it.

I think companies gotta release the same thing every year for the carrier bundle, they cannot possibly say you can have this 1year old phone for free when there are motorola or TCL releasing the same thing every year too. Also there is a possibility to make A05 cheaper after A06 launched, currently an unlocked A06 64G is close to 50dollars in my area. At this price I would pick A06 rather than the redmis that is using the same chip, maybe 90hz 720p display, with bunch of ads. Same for A16 5G, it is cheaper than A15 5G for some reason.

It genuinely feels bad watching the company that gave you the first smartphone in your life going down.
This downfall of Samsung wasn't even expected. They did innovate till 2023, but now, with no competition... they're not innovating.

I mean, reuse is part of the 3Rs of waste management...
They have a whole new market for them in Africa, where poor people are enticed to get them and pay daily as you use, or else it locks. They're basically loan phones. You end up paying double, and they add in things like cash loans to lure more people.

I see this as one of those "stepping stone" phones so people will buy the more expensive models.
Though I would give Samsung some credit because from where I live, its very cheap and it can do most phones double or even triple its price range but in a slower pace.
Its also perfect for people who dont use phones thats often.
Throughout this video I counted like 5 changes, I wouldn't say they haven't changed anything but it's definitely minimal.
I also don't understand why A06 are being sold cheaper. Yeah, it is being sold by their official stores cheaper in some online shopping apps. It also includes other Samsung Galaxy A devices. Which is a steal ig. A marketing strategy too because they offer free charging brick too which isn't available on their mall stores. I don't know what Samsung is smoking but yeah, def get it on their stores on online shopping apps for a cheaper price. I know you mentioned reseller in your video but it is what it is, Samsung is really selling them cheaper online for some reason

It works decently if you intend for daily use. Mine last 2days on single full charge.

6:58 Why bother upgrading the CPU if it works good already? The extra sensor for fingerprint is neat. I never set up any pass codes on my phone, I just click the on button, and it turns on.

If i were you, i will buy the A06, because it has the fingerprint sensor and in top of that has the Samsung KNOX security build in. KNOX security is a MUST HAVE feature...

I feel like Samsung is releasing this phone purely as a money grab, and I feel like from a purely financial perspective they hit the nail on the head. The phone, objectively, isn't good. But they will capture a certain audience who simply wants a newish a Samsung for as cheap as possible, and the phone, as you mentioned, feels 'fine' for the price - most customers would be legitimately okay with their experience. They changed it to '06' also probably to better align with with other Samsung X6 phones. It's quite intelligent strategy by Samsung imo. Just wish they cared more about the consumer rather than profits.

A05s is better in a lot of ways but there is 1 thing the A05 does better, battery life. I got the A05 and my friend got the A05s. We played COD for 30 minutes and his battery went down by 10% while my A05 went down by only 4%. This is not a gaming phone though, all are set in low graphics. I think the A0X series are perfect as a google maps, work phone or media consumption phone.
Also, install a custom rom (pixelOS is my choice) as it will make the performance a lot better.
In an ideal world, Samsung's lineup should only consist of the A1X, A2X, A5X plus the S series. Samsung can ditch the rest of A including the FE.
To fool their customers and earn a lot of "free" money just like with any other phone they make.
Samsung can get away with it in regions that have low chinese phone company competition
If they can release the same tablet with updated processor over and over again (Tab S6 Lite,) then why can’t they do the same with these low-end devices? At least the 60hz display isn’t a crime towards consumers on an entry level device such as this.

I've also noticed with other Samsung phones some of them look like they've just been re-released.
Look at the Samsung Galaxy A15 4g and the Samsung Galaxy A24 4g and try to find a difference.

I could be wrong but it seems like the Chinese manufacturers do the same thing with their phone. I think some of their newer phones contain older parts. But then again Chinese makes pump out so many phones it's like they are bakery making bread every day

For me, the a05 was one doller less than the a06, so I just saw it as I pay 1 more doller for 1 more year of update, and plus, the a06 has finger print scanner I got it on Amazon if I wanted a more powerful phone from the price I would have got any other phone like moto I got it because it offered the longest support for the price point #128 canadain

For the price of this phone brand new, I could get a used A54 for less or a flagship killer Chinese phone with actually good hardware....
The flagship S25 ultra is the same deal. They have run out of significant ways to improve the hardware so they settle for changing things around. Sometimes a little thicker, sometimes a 0.1 inch bigger or smaller screen, different color otions. The big selling point are software related. AI features and promised updates. Stuff that most people don't even care about. The sustainable and consumer friendly option would be to space out the model cycle to two years and make the phones more affordable. In reality you would be much much better off being able to buy a 2022 flagship or midrange phone over any entry level 2025 device anyway, so why even bother making them? I guess marketing a "new" model is more appealing to the average consumer even though they are not really getting anything new or better.
IF YOURE IN THE US YOU CAN GET A FREE A16 FROM STRAIGHT TALK, YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR A SINGLE MONTH OF $45 SERVICE(DO NOT NEED A SECOND MONTH) BUT AFTER 60 DAYS THE DEVICE BECOMES UNLOCKED AND YOU CAN SWITCH IT OFF OF STRAIGHT TALK. I DID THIS WITH A MOTO G POWER.
People buying phones this cheap couldn't care less about the differences from one generation to the next. You could offer them an A01 and they still wouldn't know what changed other than the reduced top bezel.
They know Ax5 is 2024 and Ax6 is 2026. "New" phone is fresh warranty which people buying phones at that cheap a price care about. Generally these are old people. It's a COMPLETE non issue. Don't make this something it really isn't.
