In this video, we answer the question of if you can fly your drone near a wildfire. We go over a brief overview of wildfires and response operations and then dive into FAA regulations and penalties and fines you could face. Just remember that flying drones over wildfires can be extremely dangerous and potentially cost lives. There’s a great saying by the National Interagency Fire Center that states: If You Fly, We Can’t.

Unfortunately, in Florida, governor desantis banned emergency first responders to fly drones themselves.
I myself am a newly retired first responder and currently a 107 drone pilot therefore I have the connections to fly my drone that has been customized with thermal imaging of course with authorized permission.
I set up my drone this way to respond where needed across the state mainly for search and rescue after hurricanes and periodically tornados. There are wild fires here but they are not all that common. When they occur normally it is off highway 75 between Naples and ft. Lauderdale off alligator Alley.
