Nigel gave me his steering wheel that I custom-fit to his hands/steering style at the conclusion of that day. A couple months later, I traded it for a Stand21 three-layer suit that I still use to this day. He impressed me as being a very physically strong driver.
Crazy to think that this was Mansells last Indycar win. I know the Lola wasn't great in 1994, but it was a lot better in 1995, so if Nigel had stuck with it, then another Indycar title could have been on. Guess it was difficult to say no in 94, when Bernie and Renault came calling though.
Wonderful, showed all those ego driven maniacs just what a real driver was back then . None of them knew how to take a corner....until he showed them all how to do it .OUCH !! . Unser, EF, Tracy,? who the fk were they LOL
The only car that could challenge the Newman Haas super team was a Penske and they where driven by a hot shot rookie and an aging veteran, Mansell got a taste of reality when little AL was signed.
@@penskepc2374 Sour your driver of choice didn't win huh? Pretty clear from your other comments on this video. Also given Mansell's F1 experiences, you're just wrong.
@@richardpurves then why did he get schooled at the road and street courses by rookies? ovals and the fact he was in by far the best car in the field(a car that kept a mid 50s Mario competitive) won him the Championship, Michael would of won in that car had he not switched to F1 only with far more points. Mansells performance was similar to Vassers in '96 as in he was basically in a rocket ship and couldn't be beaten on the ovals. all things considered Mansell was less than impressive and the writing was on the wall the next year and thats why NewmanHaas had seen enough. F1 needs casual koolaid drinkers like you though, how else would they remain the Pinnacle.
Recently revealed that because of Imola 1994, Bernie Ecclestone bought Mansell out of everything in the US. So yeah he did have all that set up. See ruclips.net/video/eP7Fx0yHzc0/видео.html .
"Mansell learns the oval tracks fast".. well.. that's because it's peanuts compared to what he was used to like Spa or Monaco. So not only is he in another class of driving, he's also way more experienced than the rest.
+azynkron Im sorry my friend but that is so wrong. He is a stud, but it has nothing to do with racing in F1. Both series at this time were equal. Just look how he did the next season. He did so bad that he opted out of his third season with Newman and Haas.
Yeah, 1993 he took over a car, Michael Andretti had perfectly prepared for him. One year later he got the realistic view how competetive IndyCar racing was those days.
I have always liked Paul Page. Without Bobby Unser and Sam Posey he is horrible. If you drank a shot everytime he says "In the fight." you would be dead.
Classic indycar great times,love this season.😊
I miss this track.. I snuck into the pits during the race then into victory circle at the end of the last Indycar race there. Great memory
Thanks for the upload....much appreciated

I know I am kinda off topic but does anybody know a good site to stream newly released tv shows online ?
@Jesse Duncan flixportal =)
@Westley Titan thanks, I went there and it seems like a nice service :) I appreciate it!
@Jesse Duncan glad I could help :D
Man, I would’ve kept that steering wheel.
such a shame that this track in now an overgrown wasteland
RIP Paul Newman & Carl Haas.
And I should say... RIP CART IndyCar
Nigel's 1993 season was nothing but adversity and strong! He was good for the sport! Too bad he never stayed for a multi-year deal

Nigel was clearly sick of Indycar after his debacle at the ‘94 Indy 500.
Michael looked happy here . He's a lunatic 🏁
Foi a ultima vitoria de Niger Mansell na indy
So if Imola 94 never happened he be in IndyCar till 96? Or was his lame duck year in 94 mean he was always meant to go back to F1?

Michael Andretti faltered in F1, but left the Newman Haas cars in good enough shape that Mansell dominated.
It's funny how F1 fans are so obsessed with a national series, American dick envy at its best lmao.
Actually the most braindead comment imaginable, shows you know absolutely nothing about what you're talking about
