  • The book Nudge by Richard Thaler and Cass Sunstein popularized a simpler, cheaper, and more scalable approach to behavior change compared to traditional methods. This video provides an easy introduction to the concept of a nudge, and offers some examples and applications for their use.

‘To make choices that are in their interest…’ ??
Whose interests? This unquestioning assumption of the wholly benevolent, disinterested and altruistic nature of top down influence fails to factor in the ontological need for those power structures to self-perpetuate and grow.
They fuel themselves by leeching away the ability of each individual to exercise sovereign will. It is done in calculated bursts of accelerated pressure and by ubiquitous nudges, by wall to wall sloganeering and by restricting speech.
It posits as a given the idea that the individual is merely a digit in a raft of big data to be guided by an enlightened few. It’s by nature paternalistic but uses the modernity of means to make itself appear progressive. There is no exchange of views, merely a technocratic order advancing dressed as a fellow sheep. It assumes that there is no one who need be addressed as an equal, or who might possess critical thinking faculties, equivalent to, or even superior to, the few making decisions.
It is an algorithmic worldview where one size fits all and dissent or questions have nowhere to land because the front-facing chatbot of the technocratic order isn’t programmed to speak human.

The one that required 2 jabs, then booster, then 3rd jab, then bivalent booster, then 4th jab, and then yearly and monthly jabs... To save you from the less than 1% deadly new flu 😂😂

Monty Python didn't popularise the phrase 'nudge, nudge, wink, wink'. It's a phrase in the English language, often used to jokingly imply something, often used with dirty jokes.
Also, the airport putting pictures of bees in the urinals is not a new concept. In the UK during the Victorian era, urinals in public toilets often had pictures of bees baked into the glaze. They were targets to aim for to avoid or minimise splashing. The bee was chosen as it is 'ape' in Latin. It's pronounced a-pee, as in the word 'happy', but without the h. A pee. So it was a humourous play on words (people were better educated & well read in those times ) & also a target to aim for.
This nudge thing again is not new. If you look at the shelves in your local supermarket, the expensive items are all placed at eye level, so they are easier to see & to reach. But if you look directly underneath those items, you'll find a cheaper alternative. If you look directly underneath those, way down on the bottom shelf, you'll find the cheapest alternative, such as the budget brand or the stores own brand. They've found that whatever they place at eye level, they will sell the most of, so that's where they put items that make them the most money.
Also, UK supermarkets tend to place the bakery & milk section at the furthest point away from the entrance, so if you just want some milk & a loaf of bread, then you'll have to walk past just about everything else. They hope that you'll see something you fancy on the way to the milk/bread section & pick that up too. I've noticed that in recent years, the German supermakets that have come to the UK generally have their milk & bread near the door, so they obviously don't follow this UK trend.
