Tips for blood roses, there is a merchant in Mohgwyn Palace that sells them. Kill him for his bell bearing, now you can buy unlimited blood roses at roundtable hold.
I started realizing how good the black bow was when helping with Malenia for awhile. I would mainly use it in her second phase using bloodbone arrows and frostbone arrows. Stagger and status effect with a good chance at stunning them is really effective
interesting mechanics when using this; it seems to generate next to no aggro when summoned (tested on Radahn, you need to be close to pull aggro). Additionally, when making the arrows for the standard rain of arrows; the arrows do not need to be fletched for max range, but the arrows reach talisman will affect the WA range (youll notice you are out of range when you lock on and the WA only seems to launch above your player position. And my favorite mechanic; any enemy that is above you in ground elevation (not boss height) will receive a closer spread of arrows upon them, which may be due to weapon art being based upon the player position rather than the locked enemy, in pvp it kills anyone on ladders.
Keep in mind Blue Dancer only BEGINS to take effect at and below 30 total equip load. It has different tiers at 8, 20 and 30 equip load. Also the lower your armament upgrade level the more damage it gives you.
I leveled mine to like 70 for equipping a ton of gear and heavy armor and greatshields. Which makes your character incredibly broken btw. It is your number one defensive stat other than strength. Dex makes it harder to be knocked off your horse. Int increases magic def, faith is resistance to holy damage etc...
Another alternative where you can get an infinite Blood Rose is from the Prisoned Merchant in the Mohgwynn Palace - just kill the Merchant and get its bell instead of going there all the time. Its a good source of the rose for those who are farming runes in the area anyways.
I'm thinking of doing a "monster hunter" theme build later and the greatbow, particularly the Lion Greatbow, is definitely something I'm interested in. I'm usually not a fan of the effort to buff myself before a battle but it would go well with the theme too. Will really learn from this video!
I’m digging this. I suck at melee so bad. Always have in games with s, parry and rolling to survive and it seems magic is quite a task here since you need tons of flasks
@@ricardimension not too much and the resources are cheap. Once u get the bell bearer in limgrave u can buy unlimited amount at the twin maidens, and many.merchants sell u unlimited arrows. It's really not that hard. I just started making one last week, and so far I have not ran into a lot of issues
I'm pretty sure the axe talisman and the physick for charged attacks don't increase damage on rain of arrows AOW. It's not charged and it's not an R2 (heavy) attack. If you could charge it then the Godfrey icon would work since that's what it does. Increases charged ash of war or spell damage.
Spear talisman increases. Since arrows pierce. Or atleast with some Aow they do. Also I believe critical talisman increases if you headshot. As headshot is calculated differently as is crit

True. If they want to avoid people being able to kill targets easily without directly engaging then they've already screwed the pooch. May as well let the bows hit a little harder considering they don't track at all.
My first build was a Dex / Archane bow build. Was bad. Second was a strength build, I was happier with it, but found myself gearing up with weapons. Hardest part of the bow build is maintaining arrows. Also, did they patch the bows? I recall Fextra saying no buffs but Alexander's applies to bows. At least in old patches.
A Bow run would be really interesting. Love the bows in Elden Ring, wish they were more fleshed out as real weapons, not just something you use to pull.
I did a bow only build and it was really fun and a lot stronger then I thought, lots of boss fights are really easy actually and I just had dual curved swords to run around on basic enemies
They are fleshed out There are countless videos and guides on people showing how strong they can be. They just have bad scaling so people assume that means they are bad. But being able to kill shit before it can even reach you is just as if not more strong than any other strategy or weapon

Can easily get a lot of this stuff from your build right at the beginning and have a archer playthrough Go get poison mist and sneak to commander oneale and also draconic tree sentinel and cheese them. Then you get standard and black bow early to play w Great guide. Your damage is immense
I've used the lion's great bow since i defeated radahn. Melted placidusax when the lightning were coming down at the start of the fight and stun locked him with flame of the redmanes later. I'd say its my fav boss fight. Those blinks in his second phases were phenomenal.

@@Henbot I don’t understand why anyone would do a playthrough just doing one thing, especially as these games get longer. Bows are essentially just another thing most builds can do. Most of them are roughly quality weapons, but like you said the scaling is bad so it’s just the wrong thing to look at. As shown in this video you can do a lot of damage if you pick your stuff right, which is the case with everything in ER. I feel cool sniping problem targets with a headshot mighty shotted and the right arrow. I was having an awful time with one ancient dragon until I switched to Radahn’s Rain and wiped it out. In early stages of my Arcane character’s playthrough I’d apply poison in one shot to a few targets and explore different parts of the dungeon while they slowly died. You can also beef up their damage - mostly with talismans and correct arrow choice - if you want. They’re just a trusty companion I’ve used in every souls game I’ve played.
as much as i was hyped when i saw this video as fast was is discouraged at the same time... the fact the only way bows are viable in the game is by going beyond ULTRA Instinct mode with potions buffs and insane end game stuff , so my take from this for me personally a bow build is not viable in elden ring... which makes me sad

Question, for high level players like myself that never used bows before. Is adding 25 to faith and equipping a seal to the build for flame grant me strength and golden vow worth doing? Or do they not affect bows?
I think every build should have a lil faith..I beat this game 7 times..and there is a lot of good faith weapons..I would definitely do it..and if u don't like it u can just respec
Flame grant me strength is a body buff and wouldn't stack with the Bloodboil Aromatic mentioned at 6:33 which give 30% bonus damage to everything but reduces your damage negation by 25%. You could use FGMS instead if you want to be more survival but you would do less damage.
I think faith is an amazing stat for any build you’re doing, lots of useful incantations can be worked in with decently low investment and they can make a big difference.
Bloodboil and FGMS don't stack, and golden vow also don't stack with the Rallying standard. However 25 faith is always good to have on any other build. Especially if you are more Melee centered. But for this build it doesn't do much. If you have 80 strength and dex already, with enough vigor and endurance. It can't do any harm to invest into faith though.
You need to double check how you’re applying buffs because in several of these shots, you’re losing buffs when you switch between weapons. Might be wasting some time and resources with some of these buffs.
Shortbow can be enough if you miss blackbow during your game (sadly possible... stupid leyndell capital of my a**). It's faster, but with less damage. Also his stats are not possible at lvl 150 (8 pts missing somewhere). Not a HUGE diff anyway because of dex/str caps. (20/55/80). So to correct him ==> lvl 150 best IMO is 40/27/27/55/55/9/8/8 vanilla (no boost). For armor, only white mask (damages+) and Black Knife armor (footsteps). On this build you're not supposed to take damages. A good way to practice dodging. Could be interesting also to reach light load for better roll, w/o radahn heavy bow maybe... (not mandatory).
He’s probably got godricks rune to boost stats and/or started as a wretch,, I always try and add up the stats too to see if it’s possible at that level lol.
I dont think the bows draw count as charged attacks. Im not certain, but the wiki says it shouldn’t work for bows. (for talisman and physick mentioned). Also, for my build I add poise breaking physick to keep enemies in place
Is there a reason you're using White Mask+Lord of Blood's Exultation over Mushroom Crown+Kindred of Rot's Exultation? Since you kept mentioning status build up it would seem like a no brainer since you could maintain the buff - Also easier to initially buff if you poison yourself/start with RoA w/ status arrows.
I think is because they add up to the seppuku and deal more blood loss damage like katanas do to enemies that bleed (non magical). I think that’s why he has the stats build bow (magic) and the physical (blood loss) bow. I may be wrong though. This is me taking a wild guess

Bows need more love from From Software...As bows weren't great i decided to use magic as a ranged option i now have 80 magic in a very high level character 253 combined blood build..I simply use comet azur vaporising enemies Malekith was defeated easily this way using my mimic level 10 as a distraction. Thankyou for this upload i'll look at bows again as my first character was suppose to be a archer etc...I have all the bows in this video as well.❤
I've been wondering about something like this for a backup when I run out of magic helping players on the elden beast fight. Currently using a halo crossbow coz magic damage. But it plinks away if I don't get consecutive hits for "ok" stacks. It'll do obviously much less damage than this focused build, but if it even does better than 350 per arrow I'd be more than happy. Definitely giving this another try later.
Are the SPIKED CRACKED TEAR and AXE TALISMAN working on the computer? I am using the the Radahn's and Rain of Arrows skills, and I dont see ANY damage increase on the PC version of the game.
It gets easier if you always summon spirits when using bow. I often stick to the back with rain of arrows (poison,bleed or frost) and the mimic do close quarter. But I also blend in pots, throwing knives and darts during my fights and of course some melee. It all depends on the situation. Being versatile is key.
I don't see how the blood boil perfume is like a physique I made three and it didn't replenish. It's a fairly expensive perfume. So if anyone could explain how it replenishes the build would be fairly broken. The lions great bow is fairly broken. I used the rotten sword insignia cause I haven't gotten the increase to ability damage yet. It works and stacks well.
Interesting build.. I have the lion great bow n intended on using it but its so dam heavy. I wear heavy armor so its gonna be hard. I probably use my bow tho more than most ppl to conserve fp.
I can't hit those stat allocations at level 150. I'm 8 points short. My dump stats (INT, FTH, ARC) are slightly different from the ones in the video but they still sum to 25 (9,9,7 instead of 9, 8, 8) What am I missing here??
Same here. All the same except 52 for dex, lvl 150. How can he be at 60 ? No talisman. No armor (only mask can boost dex, and he's using white mask) . Rune arc ? Ok+5 then what about remaining 3 ? Not dramatically important anyway. Just some error in the video.
The “bow” you used in the video is literally a gravity magic bow. That’s why it’s so powerful. Nothing to do with bows.. It’s just gravity magic damage
Other than special effects on armor specific to bows I have no clue, but as for poise, if it's not at least 51, you may as well wear whatever you want.
wow impressive, but a question, how do you see what output damage you do? I dont understand it, when i search the gear ie: hat, chest and shoes it doesnt say the damage i give but the negation only and resistance? =) Also, which class is best for main bow?
Don't know if you still need this but, on the status screen if you look on the right it tells you your AR- attack rating, that tells you your damage, but enemy resistances will change how much damage they receive, deer and birds have no absorbtion, so any hit on them shows full damage
You can just go all strength 80 dex 80 and faith at 35 you can so you can use spell instead of the commenters stander using the howl of shabir witch givs 25 to all strength damge yoy do need to be level 250 in my onpion to get a extremely strong bow bulid
No, the concoction doesn't replace. When you throw a crafted pot of any type, the contents of the pot are consumed, and the pot container reappears empty in your inventory. You must manually posses recipe book to unlock particular recipe or " type " of bomb, you must have necessary craft materials, and you have to reassemble more as needed. Cracked pots, and Ritual pots are separate classes of thrown container. Same idea for perfumers bottles/books/ingredients.
I don't think so... I think rain should be used with Winged Sword/Millicent's Prosthesis/Arrow Talismans. Unless is specifically says "Can be charged" in the description.
Did this get nerfed because this build blows major fucking ass. Or are you just cheating? I notice even though you have a heavy equip load you still light roll.
Barrage is not counted since it doesn't charge up. But Rain of Arrows and Radahn's bow might. Haven't tested it cuz being archer requires so much and I don't have the patience to buff every minute.

Alternatively you can farm them for free from the Rose Church in Liurnia, numerous ones respawn there and there is a grace nearby.

this is much much harder than melee.
For those watching. Projectiles from bows are not effected by the axe talisman. I recommend using the spear talisman.

You can buy the blood flowers 💐. There's a vendor that sells them. There 800 a peace. I maxed my flowers out with a few million runes.

Farming materials just to make arrows makes this unappealing.

I have 110+ hours in this game and there are about bosses in this video I didn't even know existed.
I've been wondering about something like this for a backup when I run out of magic helping players on the elden beast fight. Currently using a halo crossbow coz magic damage. But it plinks away if I don't get consecutive hits for "ok" stacks. It'll do obviously much less damage than this focused build, but if it even does better than 350 per arrow I'd be more than happy. Definitely giving this another try later.
Are the SPIKED CRACKED TEAR and AXE TALISMAN working on the computer? I am using the the Radahn's and Rain of Arrows skills, and I dont see ANY damage increase on the PC version of the game.
So much is required for this build... I play archer in every game that lets me but I just keep getting better swords and most bosses rush you.
Yeah From really needs to buff this class a bit or give it a boost in scaling
Not to mention that you can only make a very limited number of bloodboil aromatics per playthrough due to the arteria leaf requirement

It gets easier if you always summon spirits when using bow. I often stick to the back with rain of arrows (poison,bleed or frost) and the mimic do close quarter. But I also blend in pots, throwing knives and darts during my fights and of course some melee. It all depends on the situation. Being versatile is key.
Would power stancing 2 pulley crossbows with burred bolts be a good alternate to the black bow? Burred bolts can be bought for an unlimited supply
I don't see how the blood boil perfume is like a physique I made three and it didn't replenish. It's a fairly expensive perfume. So if anyone could explain how it replenishes the build would be fairly broken. The lions great bow is fairly broken. I used the rotten sword insignia cause I haven't gotten the increase to ability damage yet. It works and stacks well.
Imo it's way easier to just farm sheep near Stormhill Shack to get Thin Beast Bones. Buying them is weirdly expensive.

Mogwyn Palace farming shoot bird get 11k runes rinse and repeat...The traders sell more arrows you have runes....Farming sheep is too slow.
Interesting build.. I have the lion great bow n intended on using it but its so dam heavy. I wear heavy armor so its gonna be hard. I probably use my bow tho more than most ppl to conserve fp.
strength can be lowered to 54 due to the 1.5x strength buff from two handing sicne you alwasy two hand a bow
I can't hit those stat allocations at level 150. I'm 8 points short. My dump stats (INT, FTH, ARC) are slightly different from the ones in the video but they still sum to 25 (9,9,7 instead of 9, 8, 8)

Good question. From his dump stats of 9,8,8 it means he's playing as a Samurai yet when I match the stats in a Character Builder I get rl158... odd
Is he wearing headgear or items that raise stats slightly? Marikas Soreseal or something? Forgot he was rune arced?

Same here. All the same except 52 for dex, lvl 150. How can he be at 60 ? No talisman. No armor (only mask can boost dex, and he's using white mask) . Rune arc ? Ok+5 then what about remaining 3 ? Not dramatically important anyway. Just some error in the video.
Your stats can't go lower than your starting class.

The “bow” you used in the video is literally a gravity magic bow. That’s why it’s so powerful. Nothing to do with bows.. It’s just gravity magic damage

You really dont need armor cos you are ranged allways.
Other than special effects on armor specific to bows I have no clue, but as for poise, if it's not at least 51, you may as well wear whatever you want.

wow impressive, but a question, how do you see what output damage you do? I dont understand it, when i search the gear ie: hat, chest and shoes it doesnt say the damage i give but the negation only and resistance? =)

Don't know if you still need this but, on the status screen if you look on the right it tells you your AR- attack rating, that tells you your damage, but enemy resistances will change how much damage they receive, deer and birds have no absorbtion, so any hit on them shows full damage

You can just go all strength 80 dex 80 and faith at 35 you can so you can use spell instead of the commenters stander using the howl of shabir witch givs 25 to all strength damge yoy do need to be level 250 in my onpion to get a extremely strong bow bulid

No, the concoction doesn't replace.
When you throw a crafted pot of any type, the contents of the pot are consumed, and the pot container reappears empty in your inventory.
You must manually posses recipe book to unlock particular recipe or " type " of bomb, you must have necessary craft materials, and you have to reassemble more as needed.
Cracked pots, and Ritual pots are separate classes of thrown container.
Same idea for perfumers bottles/books/ingredients.

I don't think so... I think rain should be used with Winged Sword/Millicent's Prosthesis/Arrow Talismans. Unless is specifically says "Can be charged" in the description.

What about godfreys icon that enhances charged spells and skills? Does the barrage ash of war count as charging a skill?
Barrage is not counted since it doesn't charge up. But Rain of Arrows and Radahn's bow might. Haven't tested it cuz being archer requires so much and I don't have the patience to buff every minute.
