You lived a fisherman dream, pre storm conditions best time to fish. Brilliant session, that silver was a stonker they don't come better than that. Love the graveyard of carp. Well done Rohan.
Hey mate. Love the videos. I’m heading to Echuca in 2 weeks so when I got the notification you uploaded and the title said Echuca I was very happy. Hopefully I can get some good fish. Any tips for fishing there. Cheers mate
Thanks mate! Try to find a part of the river with a bit less current, like behind a fallen tree like I did in this video. The fish tend to hang out there. Good luck!
No matter how much of a pest they are Carp are definitely fun when they are thick. Awesome little session mate we’ll done even a couple of natives to add to the bag 👍
They are a pretty good eating fish apparently, but they are completely protected in NSW except for a few stocked dams. In northern Victoria you can keep them over 30cm from lakes and impoundments, but they have to be returned if it's a flowing waterway. South of the Great Dividing Range there are different rules but I'm not familiar with them as I don't fish there
haha yeah most waterways are a carpfest at the moment but that session was on another level LOL. I was hoping the natives would clean them up a bit before they grew that big, oh well. Thanks heaps Brenton, yeah that silver still has me smiling lol
I usually leave a little bit of slack but not too much. Because of how I rig my running sinker, they already have a foot of slack at the end of the line
You better start selling your secret berly 😅 The fish were on mate 🎣🎣🎣 Pulling them out non stop that's a dream session there I caught a koi/carp hybrid mirror recently was a very cool catch for a pest Wow some big silver perch that was great to see a few natives living amongst that pest fest haha
Very Cool, Thankyou. Awesome session. That 46cm Silver Perch was Awesome. Congrats. If you have killed the Carp are you allowed to take them home if wanted for maybe "Fertiliser"? Just Curious? All the Best. Cheers
That is a lot of mud marlin right there great to see them come out of the river but I think there is a couple more to be caught there haha nice silver perch tho that’s great to see cheers for the video
Had a masssive surprise yesterday fishing with my mum not expecting to catch anything other than carp but mum hooked up to a nice average sized yella a the golden shiner stumpjumper I was so happy for her.😊
Hi Rohan, Was just wondering how you differentiate between Silver perch and Macquarie perch. I catch a few fish in the Yarra river that I believe are Maccas, but am not 100% certain. The VFA app doesn't give a good description of either. Is there any difference in body parts like nose, fins, tail eye colouring. Obviously the colour of the fish can be altered by its environment, so that's not a tell tale. Keep up the good videos, Dave. P.S. My daughter has the same orange Shakespeare rod as you.
Haha that's awesome, that rod has served me very well. I've actually never caught a macca! They do look very similar don't they. By the look of it Silver's have smaller scales, and Maccas have a larger 'hump' on their back. That's about all I know! Sorry I can't help more
Great stuff as always mate. I loved the old cartoon ‘el kabonga’ (please forgive me for spelling it wrong) you played when transferring the carp (from this world to the next). Caught my first mirror carp yesterday along with some silvers, reddies and trout at Allen’s flat waterhole. No turtles. Yes, I let Robbie know they’re biting.
Great session! Was fishing the exact same spot on Friday. Lots of bites, but couldn’t land a thing till right at the end when we landed a 70+ carp. Next time for a silver.
Thanks Dave! It must have been the little guy's shift that day haha, well done on the 70+ carp tho! What a beast. I had a similar experience at Lake Eppalock yesterday, SO many tiny bites lol
👍 well done, thou next time you're out of worms, scale one of those carp, cut off the fillet leaving the skin on then cut into stripes, the skin tough and will keep it on the hook at the end of the day your hook will be loaded in bits of skin, also works well in the sea. Nice silvers🎣
Love how you got cheers from the Canberra when you landed the greasy thing! I might wet a line at Kirwin's later this week, see if I can get some Reddies.
Great video as usual, Rohan 👍🏼it’s great to see you get rid of a few of those stupid Mud Marlin, mate. Who ever introduced them into our water system should be dealt with severely. Loved the natives especially, Rohan.
@@RKJFishing I think he might have gone to hell as well, Rohan Hahahahahahaha. I thought those stinking things were introduced more recently lol. I didn’t realise it was way back in the 1800’s, that’s incredible mate.
Yep, all fish school up especially when young. The bigger a fish gets, the less you will find it in schools - although some species still school more commonly at larger sizes like redfin
Your silver perch is similar to white bass here in the states. Just darker colored. By the way, ever get to the states, look me up. And if it’s winter I’ll take you ice fishing! Maybe you’re better off not coming to the states. It’s getting worse by the day here.
You could take me fishing in the middle of New York City at the moment! I do hope to get over there someday. Yes they are similar looking to white bass aren't they. Cheers Dave
Thanks for the tip mate, I've been meaning to make a trip over to Lake Boga at some stage, I might have to call into Murrabit and wet a line on the way
Another way for people to tell the difference between a carp and a Silver Perch is if you run your fingertip along their side from back to front it will feel like sandpaper
Sensational, well done mate. What a magnificent Silver that big one was. Even the second biggest was a decent fish. Bigger than 30 I reckon. 👍👍
Thanks heaps Robbie, cheers mate
I'd take his word for it mate. His eyeometer is pretty on point.
Told you didn't I? Thanks for getting those ones out of the system. Congrats on the silvers. They are fun when they are on. Cheers.
You sure did Phillip! I'm happy to pull as many out as I can. Cheers mate
The best kind of session Rohan
Plenty of bites and fish , another beautifull silver , they fight so hard .
Thanks Christian, yeah they definitely put a bend in the rod when they get big like that!!
It's good to see Ur getting the stinking carp out and good to see silver perch in the system
Thanks Josh! I love fighting carp, happy to pull them out all day haha. Yes it's definitely good to see the silvers are still there, of all sizes
Need to go fishing together one day love to meet u
Thanks for the entertainment, and the water way's thanks you.
Thanks so much Gary
Awesome to see the big silver well done.
thanks heaps Greg
Wow what a session Rohan, well done.
Thanks heaps mate
What a session, Rohan. Sensational Silver at 46cm put a smile on my face too!! Many thanks for the video.
Thanks mate! haha yeah I'm still smiling about that one
Epic mate, lovely spot, congrats on the silver.
Thanks so much Joel
Loved the applause from the paddle steamer, awesome vid mate, hopefully I see you and Robbie fishing one day.
haha yeah it was a bit different aye! Not every day you get cheered by a live audience lol. If you do see us come and say hi!
Will do ✅
That silver perch was a beauty, they go hard at that size 👌
Thanks mate, yeah they sure do!
Great PB Rohan.
Thanks Ivan!

Congratulations on your new personal best. Wow. ❤it.

Congratulations on the silver Rohan. That was a great fish 🍻🍻

@@RKJFishing cracking silver to congrads
I think u guys have a carp problem 😅 what a session though crazy fun dam that was good size silver mate! How good
hahaha yeah just a little bit!!! It was definitely good fun, and the silver was the icing on the cake. Cheers mate
@@RKJFishing can u eat silvers? Think 🤔 I’ve asked before can’t remember but glad to se the natives back in a sea 🌊 of carp

Wow that was a hot bite mate very impressed with that 45cm silver great job mate, surprised the worms lasted.😀
Cheers mate. haha they only just lasted! I have more now though.
Well done kicking back fishing
Nice 👍
Cheers mate
Hey mate, do you ever fish the campaspe in Echuca?
Hey buddy I sure do! I'll be doing it again soon, but here's one I filmed a couple of years ago ruclips.net/video/sP0V8pDiZ_g/видео.html
Do you have a tight line or some slack when bait fishing for redfin ?
I usually leave a little bit of slack but not too much. Because of how I rig my running sinker, they already have a foot of slack at the end of the line

Thanks heaps mate. Yes we are allowed to utilize the carp, as long as they are killed immediately after we catch them
That’s where my mum and I are from hopefully we meet you oneday. Do you have to walk to that spot ?
If you ever see me come and say hi! Yes you have to park over near the bridge and walk over horseshoe lagoon to get to the river
That is a lot of mud marlin right there great to see them come out of the river but I think there is a couple more to be caught there haha nice silver perch tho that’s great to see cheers for the video

Watched your new video earlier and I don’t blame you regarding your car. Don’t want people turning up on your doorstep 😂 ps what an Epic Perch 🥳🥳🥳
Haha yep that's one of the main reasons Sharon! It actually happened once before with my old car at my old house.
Great session! Was fishing the exact same spot on Friday. Lots of bites, but couldn’t land a thing till right at the end when we landed a 70+ carp. Next time for a silver.

Thanks for the tip Craig, I'll definitely try that! Thanks mate
Great stuff
When I was on the Darling near Menindee saw spangled perch on the bank dead I’m sure that they thought they were carp
Thanks Peter. I'll be honest I had to look up what a spangled perch was haha. What a pretty fish!
@@RKJFishing yep they are really pretty
Silver or Macquarie perch ?
99% sure it's a silver perch. Plus I've never heard of a macca being caught in Echuca

wow nice work mate. Good to hear the natives are still going strong
ONLY about a 1/2 hour drive for you really hey? NICE grunter
Yeah about 1/2 hour! Cheers mate
👍@@RKJFishing
Yes it's a fun day when you don't wait long between bites.
Do you eat fish because carp really is good eating
It also grows great vegetables
I'm not much of a gardener, but I do plan on cooking up a carp this year. How bad can it be? lol
Hi Rohan, haven't seen you here in a while, hope all is ok.
Hi mate, all is well I've just been flat out!! Should be back in a couple weeks
Silver perch get around inschools ,yellow belly and redfin as well
Yep, all fish school up especially when young. The bigger a fish gets, the less you will find it in schools - although some species still school more commonly at larger sizes like redfin
We are trying to find your spot but not having any luck
It's just the Murray River behind horseshoe lagoon
@@RKJFishing thanks I think we found it got 1 carp 😊
1 fish is better than no fish! hehehe. Well done
@@RKJFishing yes we landed 3 carp for the day and lost 3
With alot of big cod dying in the black water events the carp numbers will just keep multiplying.
The carp bred like crazy during last year's floods, but I'm hoping the natives utilized it as well
Yeah mate that too but after 2016 black water event there's not the numbers of cod in the murray like there once was.
You have the best day 😢😢😢
I did have a great day. The Murray River is teaming with carp at the moment you should give it a go if you're nearby
Red hot bite mate 👍pest control.
hehe cheers mate

Thanks for the tip mate, I've been meaning to make a trip over to Lake Boga at some stage, I might have to call into Murrabit and wet a line on the way
Cheese is the best for them but unfortunately you'll catch cod to but some of the biggest silver perch ice ever seen one was 50cm
