Does this better bike background already come together or and additional on the purchase? the 64 volt batteries can I use it 2 for bike help.? what is the maximum speed that I hit? have any add-ons that help increase speed? the exterio of and made of resin??
izaias - US federal law limits the speed under motor power to 20 mph to avoid licensing and insurance as a car. 48 volt lithium batteries are used, 64 volts would burn out everything. The body shell is made from hemp fibers and cured resin.
I've actually since this video have upgraded the body to a different material so it used to be made out of a hemp so a composite but now it's made out of a fiberglass composite there's also several other upgrades that I've made to it including a windshield wiper GPS tracking as well as vibration sensitive alarm systems and a few other bells and whistles
Solar is an option that raises the cost to almost $13,000. Solar is standard on the ELF. At 230 pounds the base PEBL is already past fully loaded, it is over loaded. They added too many car-like features.
How is it on ice, particularly icy hills? Where did you order your special mirrors from? Thank you for your post and willingness to answer questions. We're in Edmonton; I especially appreciate a Cdn owner's viewpoint,
Beatrice Nearey hello so I have not really written it very much on Ice I have written it a bit in the winter here as you know when the peg is fairly flat so we don't have a lot of Hills like you would have in Edmonton It does handle pretty good on the icy roads that I have driven on but again they've been flat I have noticed a little bit of side slippage as I make a corner and fairly good speed For yourself you may want to consider getting yourself studded tires or at least a studded tire for the rear tire which is the drive Tire all in all in Winnipeg I find that it handles quite nicely obviously now in the middle of winter I wouldn't be driving because the roads are just not conducive to it but in the very beginning of winter and I'm assuming at the very end of winter somewhere along the lines of the beginning of April I'm expecting to get on the road again
Vman gman PEBL And I will tell you why out of the box the pebl can take a passenger Has reverse and cruise control is it completely sealed bottom and floor has a removable front panel to open up the floor under the pedals is a more eco-friendly design in. The material used is a hemp resin not fiberglass It has suspension in the rear and it costs less
@@heidihellsten2347 No the ELF costs the same but the PEBL has no solar roof or warranty. The ELF one year full written warranty is worth $1000. The ELF two seat version is the same price and has seat belts for 2 kids or an adult passenger. The ELF has no need for reverse gear because they were wise enough to not close the floor. The ELF has a huge front cargo shelf where the PEBL has none at all. You will be panting for more ventilation this summer but you won't be able to get it without removing windows. ELF weighs 160 pounds, PEBL weighs 230 pounds with the fiberglass body, the hemp body has been recalled and is now heavy fiberglass that ruins your hill climbing ability. PEBL violated the unwritten rule that these bikes need to weigh no more than 175 pounds with the 750 watt motor power limited by law.
@@popeyegordon There has recently been a change in my states (Washington State) electric bike laws as of July 2018 and Class III electric bikes with a motor assist or throttle speed of up to 28 MPH is now legal for anyone over the age of 16 years. On the negative side the street legal power has been lowered in the state law from 1,000 watts to 750 watts. By coincidence a neighbor sold me a used RadRover 750 watt electric bike for $350 during the same month and I changed the maximum speed on the control panel from 20 MPH to 28 MPH. The RadRover was missing the 48 volt battery pack but I had a better one already 52 Volts at 17.5 AH or 910 watt-hrs which gave me a maximum range with pedaling of about 50 miles (I live in a very hilly area too).
@@m9078jk3 I was an avid ebike commuter in the north Seattle area for 10 years before retirement. what you describe is a surprise, I know for a fact that speeds over 20 mph are dangerous on all bike trails, even wide ones, because they have blind curves and mothers pushing kids in strollers, dog walkers and little kids on training wheel bikes. It is not as simple as you allude to, the most popular heavily used rail trails still have a 15 MPH ebike speed limit. I just checked. 15 is plenty, you get wherever you are going safely with no stops at that speed.
@@m9078jk3 "Class 3 may go as fast as 28 mph but require a helmet, riders age 16 or over and are NOT allowed on Class 1 Bike Trails, which are trails separated from motor vehicle traffic." Still, if you are one of the many commuters who can't take advantage of bike trails on their commutes, the law will help you get there and encourage a few less cars on the roads.
@@m9078jk3 Class 3 also requires a speedometer and pedelec, no thanks. Pedelec sucks. Also not allowed on sidewalks so over all class 3 is more dangerous to use.
Ill bet heavy 3" tires hold up better but ill bet if you have smoth roads skinny thinner smaller tires will give you more speed and economy.but that is only benefit

The trunk lighting detail is one reason this vehicle will quickly rise in price to $10,000+ if they want to stay in business without working for free. Mark my words. Carpet liner and other details will force this to be made in Asia or to just go obsolete. I do want better.bike to succeed but the writing is on the wall. The average customer for these vehicles is barely getting by and this will be the largest purchase they have ever made, if they can swing it at all. A basic model, not the Cadillac of hybrid velos, will go the distance during the next decade. Beyond that we can talk about Lexus class vehicles.
Just heard back from my lender. I have a few things on my credit report to clean up and I'll be able to fix that in January. I will have my PEBL by next spring that's for sure!
@@popeyegordon That's a feature. My number one concern with the lighter velomobs is that any reasonably fit person could flip one over or wrestle it into the back of a truck.
@@moarsaur No the ELF was designed with a very wide front wheel base in the canted tadpole configuration the PEBL does not offer. Even 70 pounds would not make much difference in stability compared to driver weight and severity of a hard turn. I'm plugged in to the 600 member Facebook owner group where we hear about most every incident. Rollovers are extremely rare and no one in my group has heard of a single rollover where the driver did not admit he/she was horsing around recklessly and deserved the wipe out. You will be aware of a wheel leaving the ground and have time to reduce the severity of a turn. Then there was one rollover on a school property where an ELF owner had volunteered to show a class about the ELF and let a few try it out in the parking lot - some totally inexperienced kid rolled over that ELF, probably saw too many 'drift' movies. Obviously we all learned from that mistake and won't be letting school kids try out the ELF in any future demonstrations.

in the USA , the federal law related stickers are in only English. same as getting a federal drivers license ( CDL) . these trikes are nice concept rides but they are simply over priced. besides..why on earth have trunk and floor area lighting from the factory ? why raise the price on the unit by things that the end user could simply install, if they so desired ? this is one of the bikes that i studied before finally making my own. my recumbent delta style trike cost me 400 bucks to make..another 270 to motorize with a 500 watt 48 volt kit( tradtitional SLA batteries) and then 60 dollars to enclose with a acrylic skin that is painted and therefor UV protected. so aside from my research and design i have right at 850 dollars invested...can cruise on electric power at 20mph ( state limit before being classified as a motor vehicle) for 40 miles.... hell, my contraption even has a heat exchanger for the florida heat...and blue tooth speakers to play what ever i have going on my iphone... point is, i have the sasme cargo options for gross weight..dont have passenger options , but have AC and stereo for 1/7 the cost of this machine. plus, due to my enclosure technique, it looks more like a stealth bomber than like this one that looks like a soap bubble. until; the designers at better bike get a real world grasp on a commuter , they will be lost
I would love this bike...it is 100% perfect EXCEPT that it's weight limit is 250lbs....I'm nearly 400....I currently cannot, due to mental deterioration, drive, I live in an area with insects(A panic trigger for me which can sometimes be dangerous) and lots of rain...So currently my only option is to buy an Elf, and modify it myself to be a Pebl....9.9
The ELF has a 550 pound payload rating. It is also easier to get in and out of. I weigh 300. You will always need copious ventilation in this class of vehicle unless you plan to not pedal at all.
My opinion: A very nice vehicle, which spares the already badly battered environment and offers enough space for more than 2 persons. Disadvantage: It does have doors, but they do not protect the vehicle from long-term finders and theft or wanton destruction. I would be afraid to leave it somewhere. Why did not you install any lockable doors ???
You are confused - a door of any kind has no place on a bike. We don't leave valuables in bikes. We remove the motor key. This is not a car so doors are not used in the same way as on cars. Wanton destruction? You live in the wrong place and need to move if that is an issue. What is a "long term finder"? A thief needs a flat bed tow truck with winch to steal a 230 pound bike.
Here I once found (only to show that there is another way) this video "Solar Powered E-Bike (Trike) Designed to Reduce City Traffic." It's built inside like this vehicle here, but has doors Now suppose I drive this vehicle with no lockable door into the city, I want to go shopping for clothes and water and then go out to a restaurate with a friend, so I want to have a safe place where I can For example, I can safely store my six-pack of water and my first-bought clothes and not carry things with me to the restaurant.@@popeyegordon

We're in Edmonton; I especially appreciate a Cdn owner's viewpoint,
Beatrice Nearey hello so I have not really written it very much on Ice I have written it a bit in the winter here as you know when the peg is fairly flat so we don't have a lot of Hills like you would have in Edmonton
It does handle pretty good on the icy roads that I have driven on but again they've been flat I have noticed a little bit of side slippage as I make a corner and fairly good speed
For yourself you may want to consider getting yourself studded tires or at least a studded tire for the rear tire which is the drive Tire
all in all in Winnipeg I find that it handles quite nicely obviously now in the middle of winter I wouldn't be driving because the roads are just not conducive to it but in the very beginning of winter and I'm assuming at the very end of winter somewhere along the lines of the beginning of April I'm expecting to get on the road again
defroster for windshield in winter?
A 12 volt fan is enough.
How much is it
Quanto custa uma dessa
I'm in Edmonton Alberta. I was wondering if you had any trouble with local bylaws? Also, what is your plan for winter?
Ron Ceilin was not planning major winter rides
No problem with laws it's a bicycle with motor assist
Pebl or trans organic ELF ..... Opinions?
Vman gman PEBL
And I will tell you why out of the box the pebl can take a passenger
Has reverse and cruise control is it completely sealed bottom and floor has a removable front panel to open up the floor under the pedals is a more eco-friendly design in. The material used is a hemp resin not fiberglass
It has suspension in the rear and it costs less
@@heidihellsten2347 No the ELF costs the same but the PEBL has no solar roof or warranty. The ELF one year full written warranty is worth $1000. The ELF two seat version is the same price and has seat belts for 2 kids or an adult passenger. The ELF has no need for reverse gear because they were wise enough to not close the floor. The
ELF has a huge front cargo shelf where the PEBL has none at all.
But is there a spare tire in case the puncture proof tire is safe but the rim fails?
Rims don't fail. If you ruin a rim you call a tow truck
Gteat job.
How much miles for hours can be?
And the price ?
All electric bikes in the US are limited to 20 miles per hour, about 28 km/hr. This is not a dealer page. Go to better.bike/PEBL
@@m9078jk3 "Class 3 may go as fast as 28 mph but require a helmet, riders age 16 or over and are NOT allowed on Class 1 Bike Trails, which are trails separated from motor vehicle traffic." You screw yourself out of safe bike trails for commuting when you use a class 3 and gain just a bit of speed on roads that are still much more dangerous with cars all around. Still, if you are one of the many commuters who can't take advantage of bike trails on their commutes, the law will help you get there and encourage a few less cars on the roads.

@@jdrum3053 Rethink that. Curb weight is up to 230 pounds now with the fiberglass body.
Funny you should say that considering as of June 29th Rob Cotter's vaunted Organic Transit you keep fanboying over just declared bankruptcy.
I want to get a pebl Bangladesh.
Hi, Tim, thank you so much for such a thorough video. I watched it during the time I was waiting for my bike to arrive, to educate myself on the features. I have a question. Where did you order the side mirrors from? My bike arrived with the basic ones, but I would like to upgrade. Thank you in advance.
Please say me about motor and speed
All electric bikes in the US are limited to 20 miles per hour, about 28 km/hr.
The legal limit is 32 km/h
The factory recently switched to fiberglass body shells.
Yep I'm getting mine redone
@@timhellsten Ouch, I didn't realize it could get that bad. Lesson learned I guess. I like hemp for smoking. I'm buying high CBD content industrial hemp from an Oregon farm, completely legal.
@@timhellsten More bad news - the new body shell increases curb weight to 230 pounds. You will need that illegal cheater switch just to get around.
How do you protect it when you go in a shop or something. They can steal it
You lock it up like a normal bike
My bike has a bunch of special features in it I have a master cut off switch with a lock and the key so basically I can cut the power to the entire bike
I use a lock with an alarm on it as well I also have installed vibration sensitive alarm systems that are 120 decibels each
I've also installed a GPS tracking unit that can track you the bike North America wide that unit is hidden inside the bike somewhere
So I can track it anywhere at anytime
I'm also planning on purchasing a new lock called a skunk lock basically what that is is a lock standard u-lock but inside the u-lock is high pressure pepper spray so basically if anybody tries to cut the lock the pepper spray injects through the cut and sprays all over the person doing the cutting basically rendering them immobilized probably at that point in time needing medical attention
Wow
I wants to know the price of the pair Bose please let me know text me back okay
HI Tim. At what temperature can you comfortably ride the pebl?
Zackery Williams I have ridden it in about -5 degrees Celsius without any additional heaters or anything just wearing a thin jacket and I was still sweating and I had the doors closed but the windows partially opened
So if I was actually to close the windows and everything I'm sure it would be a lot warmer I could ride it even longer
Thanks, I am looking forward to receiving my Pebl.
in the USA , the federal law related stickers are in only English. same as getting a federal drivers license ( CDL) . these trikes are nice concept rides but they are simply over priced. besides..why on earth have trunk and floor area lighting from the factory ? why raise the price on the unit by things that the end user could simply install, if they so desired ?
this is one of the bikes that i studied before finally making my own. my recumbent delta style trike cost me 400 bucks to make..another 270 to motorize with a 500 watt 48 volt kit( tradtitional SLA batteries) and then 60 dollars to enclose with a acrylic skin that is painted and therefor UV protected.
so aside from my research and design i have right at 850 dollars invested...can cruise on electric power at 20mph ( state limit before being classified as a motor vehicle) for 40 miles....
hell, my contraption even has a heat exchanger for the florida heat...and blue tooth speakers to play what ever i have going on my iphone...
point is, i have the sasme cargo options for gross weight..dont have passenger options , but have AC and stereo for 1/7 the cost of this machine.
plus, due to my enclosure technique, it looks more like a stealth bomber than like this one that looks like a soap bubble.
until; the designers at better bike get a real world grasp on a commuter , they will be lost
Can we see it? It looks like you know how to upload videos, it would be great to show us your budget friendly version
So Expensive
It would sell much better if it had a more industrial looking design.
Nice car but please process give in India this car
I would love this bike...it is 100% perfect EXCEPT that it's weight limit is 250lbs....I'm nearly 400....I currently cannot, due to mental deterioration, drive, I live in an area with insects(A panic trigger for me which can sometimes be dangerous) and lots of rain...So currently my only option is to buy an Elf, and modify it myself to be a Pebl....9.9
The ELF has a 550 pound payload rating. It is also easier to get in and out of. I weigh 300. You will always need copious ventilation in this class of vehicle unless you plan to not pedal at all.
My opinion:
A very nice vehicle, which spares the already badly battered environment and offers enough space for more than 2 persons.
@@angeleyes3251 The PEBL has a locking rear hatch and battery compartment. The ELF has a locking rear trunk lid. Please keep an open mind which must include the fact that personal cars make it easier to over-consume as part of an unsustainable lifestyle. Also don't forget that delivery of merchandise and groceries is easier than ever and more options offered every day. Please don't buy bottled water. The containers are usually not properly recycled. US tap water is the best in the world on average and water filter options are many. Fill your reusable water bottles at home please.
@@angeleyes3251 The changes we need to make to live sustainably are minimal and not hardships. Even with all sustainable behaviors combined the US will still offer the best lifestyles which will actually improve even more as we stop stealing resources from future generations.
So don't leave anything of value in the bike at all it's pretty much like a convertible you never leave valuables in a convertible
I have since installed vibration sensitive alarms that are 120 decibels or more each as well as I use a u-lock that has a vibration sensitive alarm on it and I also have the bike GPS tracked so there's a 24/7 GPS tracking unit inside the bike integrated into the system
So if it goes missing I'll come collect it
Great idea better than a electric bike an safer their overpriced its the way to go if you want to travel the country for cheap are they made for tall people and have leg room
Anyone pls give me a peble
..after the 4th "basically", I had to leave.
You say you *basically* had to leave?
7 month lead time. Rediculous.
A few used ELFs are for sale. One just listed in Florida. Organic Transit had and has similar lead times, these are small companies with no multi-million dollar bank loans to fund large scale operations.
on the website it says Nov/Dec keep in mind they have to build it.
