Here’s a step-by-step tutorial on how to make RUclips Shorts with iMovie on a Mac.
RUclips #Shorts are coming quickly, so we need to be able to produce simple shorts easily on a Mac. iMovie is ideal for making #shorts quickly, but the vertical formatting is a little more complicated than it seems. Here’s how to do it all with just iMovie, without using any third-party software.

Glad to hear it! I had a hard time finding and answer to this question, so I'm happy to share it. I've actually had very good results with traffic on my shorts videos. About 95% of the views are from the shorts format. So it's working. For sure

Use a green background and you won't have to pay for canva to do the transparent background!

Just get one out everyday or every other day, as much as possible. About 95% of the traffic's on my videos are from the shorts format, so it's working for sure. It's a great way to get views and subscribers quick.

I flipped it before exporting from iMovie, saved it to my desktop, rotated right, hit x to export as file name and the video on my desktop doesn’t flip once saved?
Try adding it to your photos and flip it in there. Then drag it back out onto your desktop and that should sort it.

Thank you for this two for one video! My #shorts video is finally formatted right and I now know how to add text that is 100% better than the options available in iMovie.
You can actually see how effective shorts are in analytics. Under sources, you will see Shorts as a source. I've found that around 70% of the views are from the Shorts shelf. Pretty cool opportunity here.

I tried following what you have. I used video from canva and resize it to fit 1080 X 1920. Then in imovie imported this and included a music track just about 51s. I followed the same process and in the final file tried to check with the command i, but could not find the indication of the size as 1080 X 1920. And when I upload to youtube, it looked the same as earlier with the two black spaces left and right, instead of white.
So what happened, is it that you cant include music track, as I could not find the properties as 1080 X 1920. Let me know if I am doing something incorrect. tks
Hi, thanks for the question. Did you do the whole process of flipping it within iMovie and then exporting it, and then flipping it back to the vertical format? The reason I ask is because if you just export it as is without flipping it, then it will be exported in the horizontal format.

@@thebellachen-1667 I have actually seen really good traffic on some of my channel using shorts. about 95% of the views on many of my popular videos are from shorts, which is very encouraging. Please keep going I recommend making a video every day or every other day.
