Agreed. There's an Epiphone one in a store window in my town. I went in and got them to take it down so I could play "Stairway," on it. It was satisfying.
A 12-string guitar is actually 6 pairs of two strings each. The lower 4 are tuned an octave apart, and the upper strings are tuned exactly the same. The result is a sound like no normal guitar.
@ClockworkFacility1 Yes, you could. Also, if you leave both necks open, you'll get some sympathetic string resonance through the body, which sounds very nice and chimey.
@WOMD94 Oh God.... That's the end part to Stairway to Heaven... No offense, but if you're watching anything to do with guitar or music in general, you should be able to recognize that. One of the best songs ever written. EVER. Rock on
BEAUTIFUL 1275.........as unique as this guitar is, shouldn't be too hard to trace it's history. Sounds amazing....thanks for the light-hearted(FUN) demo, Phil!
there's a vid of a different dbl neck where i do just that. when you strum the one neck, you hear the strings on the other neck vibrate and resonate. it's pretty cool if it's tuned right.
"And the fingers don't fit, man! How did he do this live?!" I fell out of my chair laughing! Not because of what he said, but because of how he said it. lol Rock on, man! \m/ >_< \m/
yes. The neck is usually inordinately thick though, and there is tons of problem with tuning, action, and intonation; but for rhythm guitar nothing beats it.
@MrPinkZeppelin this is about your comment on the les paul sg special video ... its pending on that video for some reason but at 4:49 he playing funky town
@grainin93 Epiphone make fantastic guitars man. The main difference is psychological. If I bought the Epi I'd be reallly happy with it and never look back but some people gotta have Gibson on the headstock so, you'know. :)
@TitanicFanatic1995 You have a point but see how you feel 10 years from now when your ear is developed for listening to guitar tones far beyond the average person
COOL!!!! Jz one question though: why gibson put a neck selector switch? i know it is to choose which neck is active but why not let both neck be active? isnt it a waste of space?
the flower design looks like a Kent guitar i`ve since i was a kid....that`s a cool double neck for sure....what kind of strings and gauge on the 12 string ?
I can't believe you went from Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath to Stone Temple Pilots! Great Demo none the less!
Agreed. There's an Epiphone one in a store window in my town. I went in and got them to take it down so I could play "Stairway," on it. It was satisfying.

there's a vid of a different dbl neck where i do just that. when you strum the one neck, you hear the strings on the other neck vibrate and resonate. it's pretty cool if it's tuned right.
Wow you played three of my favorite bands in one 6 min segment, Zep, Rush, and Sabbath.

@zed0469 The studio version was recorded on a Fender Electric XII and a Fender Telecaster.

I heard somewhere that talent is a good thing to have.
yes. The neck is usually inordinately thick though, and there is tons of problem with tuning, action, and intonation; but for rhythm guitar nothing beats it.

Where the fingers don't fit? LOL The original solo was recorded on his "Dragon" Telecaster.
@Tatertoot9 read the description right below the video....
God I love ya Phil X :D 18 strings... kinda PITA to tune.... but if you do... YEAAH! :D
that thing sounds fucking awesome
@leatherneck1093 I cant decide if your comment was meant to be an insult or a complement about Phil's guitar playing ability.
cool guitar
that guitar is now worth more because PhilX played it.
"i....i think i love it..yeah. okay!" haha i love phil x
i love the theme thing
Page played it one octave lower when playing live
it's just so beautiful :)
Wings' guitarist James McCulloch(?) used one of those.
@KirkTheGod Having it down below makes it less likely to switch guitars accidentally mid-strum...
You guys have had more than 1/6th of all of the EDS 1275s.
@TitanicFanatic1995 You have a point but see how you feel 10 years from now when your ear is developed for listening to guitar tones far beyond the average person
@Tatertoot9 Please check out our full description - it will answer all your questions about this guitar.
If you watch jimmy play stairway to heaven live he plays the end of the solo around the fifth fret not the 17th. He probably had the same problem
frettedamericana couldnt have picked a better person for the job.
@JPZeppelin1 interstate lovesong by the stone temple pilots! love that song! :D
that's a prettydang funny and entertaining demonstration of a way cool guitar... Nice one!! ha ha!
the moments we were all waiting for... 1:18 and 3:46 ;-)
Closer to the Heart by Rush... pay attention when he says what he's playing!
"HOW DOES HE DO THAT!" i lolled at that ;D
lol...my pinky don't fit man...how do I do this line
haha...lol epic!!!
this guy is funny

very good I'd like play this guitar
5:45 I can't figure out the song name! It's going to bug me.... And this is the most beautiful guitar ever.
"Fairies wear boots"
DANG this video is old, and i think maybe jimmy page could've hit those high high notes easier cuz he had REALLY long fingers
the sustain on the 12 string was like nothing i've ever heard. i would be in a trance letting it ring out - almost like holding down an organ key.
imagine changing all the strings on that thing !!!!
YOU ROCK! \m/!
@poptot0680 If you want to move into that room, you'd love moving into the showroom of Fretted Americana
@NathanielKHVids NOOOO Jack Black is related to Phil
Just wondering can u put neck selector switch in the middle so both necks can be used if u know wat i mean?
great play man...canadians rule...
Phil X said, "how did he play it live."
'i wish my beer was as cold as your heart'
rofl
@NathanielKHVids He's related to gearmanndude, if you haven't heard of him look him up on youtube, best pedal demos.
