      Actually, it's not power that matters, but power per (bike wet weight + rider's weight). I add passenger weight and assume he weighs as much as me
      If you compare bike based on that, you'll see clearer why some powerful bike is easier to control than some bike with lower power to control

    Honestly, the best beginner bike is the one that fits you, your budget, your style, and your maturity. My first bike, which I got just in July, is a 2005 Honda VTX 1300 C. Wasn't my first choice (I wanted a Vulcan S), but it's been a great bike, and as long as I respect the torque in lower gears, it's fine. (1000+ cc is very different on a cruiser than on a sport bike.) As for size, I am 6'5", so that big bike doesn't feel big to me.
    I'd also recommend getting a bike that can do highway speeds without struggling. So, that means getting a bike with at least 500 cc.

    • @MaNtIcHoRaOfficial
      @MaNtIcHoRaOfficial Год назад +3

      I 10000% agree with everything you said. My only experience on a bike was the 2 days at the MSF course. I wanted a honda rebel but the 500 despite being highway capable didnt doesnt have much power past 75mph and i feel like you might need more to get out of a bad situation at those speeds. Plus you grow out if it quick. I got a 1100 as my first bike and in lower power modes its actually easier to ride then the old beat up 300s they had us on in class. Maturity level 100% plays a role. And ive been on a 650cc street bike and thats a way different beast then my rebel 1100

I got the automatic version (DCT), thinking it would save me some troubles. But in the mountains I switch to automatic and you lose the ability to use the clutch during slower maneuvers. So... What I don't like about this lists is that they always recommend new bikes for beginners. Let's be honest, if it's a first bike you're looking for to learn to ride a motorcycle, once you become more experienced you probably won't keep the bike and will want to upgrade to something better so it makes no sense on buying a brand new beginners bike in a dealership. My current bike which is my first bike is a 2003 Honda Shadow ACE 750 which I got for $2,600 and has less than 30k miles on it. I've had it for 1 year already and is my daily driver to work. I know it isn’t the recommended starter bike, and it’s very expensive (in Europe it’s 20K), but it has very controllable power and once you get a feel for the clutch in 1st and 2nd gear, I find it very forgiving. Also: it was my dreambike from the getgo and I will probably ride it for many years to come. Also I’m 6ft1, so a scout, rebel 500 and the like make me look like a normal guy on a pitbike.

    I think the issue people have with the Suzuki S40, is that they don't understand it. It's a dirt-cheap bike, nearly unchanged since 1986, and is a blank slate. They make a great bike for absolute beginners to rip around on, they can do highway speeds easily, and they're bulletproof. I'd never recommend a mechanical novice get a carbed V-Twin, but a carbed single? yeah why not. Belt drive is great, there's a great aftermarket for the bikes, and the community support is fantastic. And with how light it is, if you drop it, you will have zero trouble picking it back up, and finding replacement parts is dirt easy.

    The Triumph SS 900 has a 30" stock seat height. 65HP and weighs 454lbs dry. It can be lowered another 1.5-2" with rear shock replacement.
    NO beginner, no matter man/woman/tall/short should get a bike any heavier IMO. They all stay up well cruising hwy speed but the real test is 20 or less mph. Tight turns, parking lots and idiots who park after you, in the way. For a beginner, weight is your enemy until you get some miles under your can.
    The SS 900 is not my first street bike, it's my 6th, but I haven't ridden in 25 years. So I'm sitting here listening to Spite (who tf names their kid that by the way?!?!?!) And i have to say you eliminated 90% of the planet with this video and disagreed with 90% of the authorities in the English speaking world because most 90% of the bikes you spoke about are not able to be ridden by a beginner in England, Europe and Asia Pacific region because 50hp is as much as we can go to.
    Second, i have been riding for about 18 months, i now own a LAMs or A2 compliant 650 which is restricted to 47hp and i am sooo glad my first bike was a hyosung GV250, because that terrified the crap out of me up till i was hit by a car and spent 1 year recovering after surgery and couldn't get back on a bike for 6 months.
    My personal thoughts are if you are starting on a bike, have NO experience at all then most of these bikes will kill you!
    I think a 400cc cruiser is the perfect beginner bike, about 33-40hp, it allows you to cruise on a highway, put around town and its forgiving enough that if you cock up its unlikely to create a situation you are unable to recover from.
    I am now a fairly confident rider, but still do courses to ensure i have the best and most up to date information available.
    The reason that the rest of the world has a power to weight restriction is because the stats prove that the bigger the bike the bigger the risk.
    So if it was me it would be a Yamaha v-star 400, or a honda shadow 400 for a starter bike for 90% of the rest of the planet.
    I think you have to be very careful with these videos because if someone takes your advice and kills themselves because the bike was too much for them but Yammie and Spite said this bike is fine, its on your heads when they die.
    I am still only on a restricted licence i film up to 1 hour test rides on A2 compliant bikes to let other learners know how i feel each one is and if i think its a bike which they should be on.
    My 47hp bike is capable of 3.8sec to 100kph and a top speed of 187kmh, thats faster than most V8 cars, and even most super cars, the thought that you would give advice to start out riding on more powerful bikes than that is horrifying!

      @@hogsandsooners Ahh yes, looking at those artists they are relatively older. With Gibson we have a lack of innovation along with relying of the reputation of artists that played guitars from the 70's-90's. While with today's quality the guitars are ones that quite truly represent a first act guitar(A cheep department store guitar). With there lack of quality and gimmiy feacher such as robot tuners, Gibson realized no one was buying there new gear. After Gibson chapter 12 bancrupty in 2014 the brand has to find how to repair its damaged reputation and go on to fuck them selfs with there "Play Authentic" ad capaine. This made people stay farther away from Gibson due to being the ass hole of guitar manufactures.

    I've just started my riding career (at the age of 60!). Because of the UK laws, and also because I have nothing to prove to anybody, I am starting out on a Yamaha 125 Virago. The law says I can't have anything over 11hp anyway, and the Virago is the nicest 125 cruiser on the road imho. I have a '94 S&S Sportster being built for me when I pass my full test, but that is some unspecified time in the future Spent 40+ years on four wheels, it will take some time to get used to two!

      I’m 74 - nothing to prove! =RE= Regarding my Royal Enfield Meteor 350. Purchased two years ago. 28,000 km on the clock. All over sunny tropical THAILAND. NOW I WANT TO SELL MY SINGLE CYLINDER ‘THUMPER’. WHY? The nasty VIBRATIONS! I have wry neck, stiff neck! And numb fingers, neuropathy after two hours in the saddle. Enuff is Enuff! I need more CC. No Vibrations!
      “As you know there is no replacement for displacement” NOW I am looking for a second hand TWIN. A cruiser, of course. Kawasaki Vulcan 650 or a YAMAHA Boulevard (cool name) The c50 model 800cc. Ciao, remember “ Au Volant La Vue C’est La Vie” Johnny BikeSanooK!

    I'm starting with a Vulcan S and I love this machine. 🤣 No doubt that it's cheap and kinda ugly, but honestly? She's very gentle and very forgiving. 650cc is enough to take me down the highway to get to work without being so overwhelming I get scared off completely. Not to mention, I'm a mechanic with a bunch of tools and a can-do attitude, so the ugly sound and butter-face are completely fixable. 😁

    • @Hendoneesia
      @Hendoneesia 3 года назад +1

      The Indian Scout Bobber is my first bike. I'm 44 though, and I understand keeping it below 5k rpm makes it easy to ride. The Rebel 500 isn't comparable at all. Not one bit. It's slow, it's wimpy, it's small. The Shadow is closer, but just get the Indian. Be responsible and it'll entertain you a heckuva lot longer than a Shadow before you start looking for something better.
