I saw her live years ago at the Telluride jazz festival. I had entered the downbeat contest to go . . . and I won. I had never won a single thing in my whole life. But Downbeat paid for the trip for my wife and me. Dianne Reeves sang in the open air surrounded by the Colorado Rockies and a host of jazz fans and lookers-on. I had won more than a ticket to Telluride. I had won a ticket to a bit of heaven on earth! "As I reflect on my life . . . I'd have to say I would live life the same way."
Its the song and the singer and the singer and the song. Brillant, it stirs your emotions and captures you sensibility let alone the lyrics and melody.
She's the best, absolutely the best... And Peter Martin is such a sublime accompanist. I love this arrangement too (especially the modulation down a half step at the end)
The wonderful, divine Dianne also recorded Monk's "A Merrier Christmas" which wasn't discovered until many years after Monk's passing. The only other recording of the song was by the great pianist Benny Green.

Perfectly done. If Mr. Monk heard it, I couldn't see him being displeased. In fact, he would be proud and even honored.
This is absolutely perfect. Every note.
One of Monk’s prettiest tunes. Well done!
For me, second behind Round Midnight BUT a very close second if not first in some days for me. Beautiful.
hands off she is already taken...damn!!! She will always be my babygirl
Great Peter Martin!!

Wonderful! Absolutelly perfect!
The sand of times passed through. When we peep through that past, it left me with sadness and tears...
I am totally in love - she is beautiful & amazing!
