I predictably get sad after my son and his family visit. I think it’s from the house being full of joy and laughter and then it gets quiet. I love my solitude too. It takes two days for me to get used to the absence of their presence. However, I always stay grateful. I need a long walk when I’m missing them.

    • @nigella4me

OMG I'm EXACTLY the same! After my kids and their family visit, I get SO down and sad from missing the talking, laughter, and just the joy of them being in the house. When they leave, the energy they brought into my house leaves with them. The quiet is deafening and I just miss the liveliness the house had while they visited. It also takes me a couple of days to get back to normal. I love them all so much that when they are over, I feel alive! Glad to know I'm not alone in feeling this way. It can be very, very hard sometimes. Take care and be strong, it's all we can do. 😊

Not sure what happened, I replied to you but I don't see it. Maybe I just didn't hit reply, I don't know. LOL Anyway, hi Barbara! Yes, living alone has a lot of advantages. There's a lot I don't think I could tolerate unless I was REALLY DEEPLY in love. Who knows!!! My two dogs are my life right now, I'd be so lost without them. They love me unconditionally and never make me feel bad in any way whatsoever. Enjoy your fur babies, I believe they are gifts to us. I rescued my babies and they rescued me. 😊

I'm just feeling very "don't wanna do anything today," I just wanna enjoy my time with my dogs and watching some RUclips videos. I'll shower and wash my hair later this evening. I'm just feeling LAZY!! LOL! Thank you so much for being here. 😊

I KNOW what you mean. I actually had stomach aches all the time from the sheer nervousness of the relationship when I was married. I enjoy my peace most of the time. And when I get down, I focus on ALL the positives of my life and come out of the down feeling fairly fast. My dogs are my everything too. They love me unconditionally and you can't get that from any human. I'm glad you are living your best life, that's all anyone needs. 😊

HERE are a few cons for me…
      1) Sometimes when I need a second opinion from someone who I truly trust and who absolutely knows me. 2) All the burdens of the unexpected finances of life’s responsibilities vehicle repairs/ home upkeep./ relocating-moving
      3) When my arthritis is acting up really bad and I need assistance with a daily task from putting on an article of clothing, fastening a snap or a clip or opening up a jar or carrying something heavy.
      4) Needing someone my spouse or significant someone to accompany me for moral support for a serious medical/doctors appointment or to have a surgical procedure/appointment.
      5) Also sharing Happy Events with someone, there is something special/ awesome about celebrating TOGETHER versus solo, holidays, vacations, Birthdays, a simple sunset a rainbow, a beautiful flower/plant that you grew, a delicious meal or snack.
      6) Precious memories in general like your grandchildren, our relaxing/CALMER Senior Years.
Looking into someone’s eyes that you know has been there for the better and the worse of times. TRUST, loyalty. respect, and that true love that mends you BOTH together to ride through each and every situation knowing somehow you’ll make it OUT… TOGETHER 💞🙌

I still have a bad day or two now and then, but not like it was when my son first moved out. The freedom to be me and live how I want is priceless. I especially like that I don't have to take care of anyone in any way. Thank you for being here.😊

Lori it's so good to see you. I loved the video, you definitely hit on some good points like cleaning, decorating as you want, not sharing the bathroom...lol. I see you with your dogs, and would love to have another, but when I retire that way they have more of your attention. I will sometime sit in the quiet, and feel the loneliness around me, but sometimes the quiet is a good thing, and it can help you think. Take care.

Awww thank you! Yes, my dogs are GREAT company, they mean the world to me. If you eventually get one you will love it! I have this real thing now about having my own bathroom, a weird quirk now. LOL! It's true that sometimes the solitude and quiet feels good, but I'm a people person and wish I could find Mr. Right, but I'd rather be alone than be with Mr. Wrong, or just enjoy a man's company for awhile then be in my home alone. It's confusing sometimes. You take care too. 😊

Hi Nigella! So many women stress over not having a man in there life but for me it’s simple he must be a good man ,intelligent and kind with the motto “Happy wife happy life”. 😊 My husband passed away 7 years ago after 50 years of marriage-I had a good man. You explained it so well -living alone you don’t have to deal with any nonsense! You have those beautiful doggies to love ! Can’t wait till Christmas! Xoxo!

Hi there! Wow, 50 years, that's a LONG time. You're right, happy wife, happy life. You're lucky you had a good man. I did NOT! As I write this, I just finished a bowl of mixed veggies, that's all I wanted, nothing more. One pan, one bowl and fork to clean, and I'm done! I don't know if the kind of man I want exists anymore, but I won't settle that's for sure. I can't wait for Christmas either, I love that time of year. Thanks for being here. 😊

I do have a good life but there are days when living alone can be very trying. You just want someone to talk to or share every day things with and no one is there. There’s a lot of women that live alone in my neighborhood and have cats or dogs. I have two neighbor women across the street, one in her 60s that was never married and the other in her late 70s either widowed or divorced. Women can deal with living alone better than a man.
