3 years later and still coming back to this video to get the best help ever from a youtube channel. What did you used as base for that bridge? Because that guitar came with a wraparound and you used a different bridge in order to install the bigsby?

I bought this same Gretsch G2210 in the gun metal color and wondered if I could install a bigsby. I've been watching the videos on all the mods for this, and I've been patiently waiting for this video. Thank you so much cause this motivates me to install one on mines! 🤘🏽 You have definitely gained a subscriber today!

Dylan, if I hVe a muddy neck pickup. A guitar madness p90 humbucker sized. It’s a cheap upgrade project so didn’t mind not spending the money on high end pickups. If the neck is muddy is that a tone cap issue or raise the neck humbucker closer to the strings issue. It’s very muddy compared to the bridge.

I recently installed a Dusenberg vibrato on my Gibson SG. It took me 15 minutes including restringing. And also these Dusenberg German engineerd vibrato's just work better than a Bigsby.

I just bought a Squier strat to mod and it had a shim made from that plastic strapping that big boxes have round them, I then had to lower the saddle grub screws which had been replaced with 10mm ones, now have to buy a set of 8mm ones as theyre sticking up waiting to tear the skin off my hands, no idea why someone thought they had to shim the neck and put longer saddle screws in it just for the sake of a half turn on the truss rod!!!!

Based on your comments about shimming, does that mean putting a Bigsby on a guitar with a set neck is not really a good idea?

Love how you do the voice of descent. Can't remember who it reminds me of other Ben Stiller.( nobody makes me bleed my own blood) Where is electric guitar time on the clock or calendar . That's kind of like when Harley started doing rubber mount and dampers on the engines. People swore it would not let the vibrate the frame at all.

At least your RV is proving itself to be waterproof! Knotted the string just like some people put guitar strings too...lol. I was glad to see that you used cardboard from a cereal box , like I do, that everybody else poo-poos.

Hi, love your videos brother. Maybe you can help me out. I am upgrading/adding a bigsby b5 to my guitar (which I originally have a tune-o-matic bridge with flat saddles on) I've seen many people online recommended a roller saddles tune-o-matic bridge. I was thinking on going for tonepro, would you have any suggestions? Is it truly necessary to go roller bridge?

Also watch out for how short those set screws are clamping arm assembly to cam. I recommend getting a longer metric set screw or tap out to quarter 20 and put a longer standard thread screw in there

I've had a guitar with a authorized bigsby on it. Was a knock off SG. It sucked but I was told by many people that a real bigsby was just as bad in aspects of tuning and tail noise. Of course the felt on the bottom is there for the same reason your stereo has feet. Stops buzzing and rattling noise.Don't know first hand on the real deal but the one I had displayed the same issues.

What about bending of few last centimeters of neck (above shim), when shim is installed and is not covering all the area of neck-body joint? I saw movie on youtube, where somebody shown few guitars with bent end of necks in the area of last 1-3 frets. Is it true or somebody was making stupid jokes?

    • @WW-1995

You need to ground stuff when it's part of your circuitry and the bigsby isn't part of it. You wouldn't ground the tuners for example

The Gretsch Jr. Jet is a simple hard-tail flat-top guitar similar in design and function to the Gibson Les Paul Jr or Les Paul Special Tribute. While Bigsbys are neat and all, needing to use a wooden bridge typically used on arch-top jazz guitars as an adapter for the metal bridge is forcing the mod where it really isn't needed.

Other than being very steampunkish, why would anyone choose a Bixby over a more conventional trem system? The thing looks like a can opener.

I can't find any way to put a pic here, so if you've never seen how a pivoted "whammy" is installed, Google "Stratocaster body" and view the back, then you will see the amount of mutilation required to install the "the Whammy" (or according to Eric Clapton, the "wang bar"). If I misunderstood "more conventional trem system", sorry, just trying to help.

@@fredchatham6680 No, makes sense. The Bixby is all external. The F/R, and couple different ones Fender and others require routing to install. Never thought of it. Thanks!
(They still look like a can opener 😂)
