Anytime we stayed out late, my dad would wake us at 7am by flinging our door open and hitting it open handed, calling "rise and shine". If he thought we had been drinking (rightly so) he'd cook runny eggs and greasy bacon and make us eat it for breakfast. Great dads do think a lot alike.
My oldest son disrespected me and his mother, and when I took his TV away he yelled “that’s mine give it back”. So since he was like 12 years old and being a real butt head I took everything except the mattress and bedding. He learned real quick to respect his elders.

Oh My Goodness! Every time the Cornstar video ends I’m always sad, but yet the video always makes me smile! Every night around 6:00 I start checking RUclips just to see if the video has been uploaded! Can’t wait until tomorrow’s! 🚜🛵
I think I'm a little bit in love with that drainage girl!! You'll never regret the work she's done there. Our yard here sits on the bed of an old river (it was moved south 50 miles by the last ice age) and a few years ago I lowered the water table by digging a ditch a bit deeper that takes the yard water away. At about five feet deep I found what we call a Napoleonic drain: a clay tile drain first hand dug by prisoners of war in around 1810/15!! I've kept some of the hand made clay pipes as a bit of a memento. We flood a lot less often now!
I love the father/daughter tile team. That's great when family works together. I'm kind of jealous, you guys have all the fun operating the tile machine, backhoe, etc.... I'm real excited about the porch. Daddy corn 🌟 star great advice about removing the door. So happy my parents did not think of that one. Lol lol lol
The house is going to look so nice when it's done Cole. You've all ready done so much to make the farm look better. Thanks so much for sharing with us buddy. :)
Love! Love! Love! The house progress vlogs! I so hope they keep the new columns on the porch Ionic in style to stick with the proper Victorian style architecture of the home! Very exciting to see all the improvements and new porch coming! Oh, and how fortunate and blessed to have a natural freshwater spring!
Yeah on house progress! I love the columns and hope you can save them. I would love to see the ceiling bead board saved or replaced with kind. Paint the porch ceiling Robins egg blue. It helps keep wasps, hornets from building nests on the porch. Plus it looks really nice. Best of luck on the tiles. ☺
Finally done! I’ve been plowing all episodes for a month now. It’s awesome to see how both your farming operation and your RUclips channel have evolved from the first episode! Keep up the amazing job!
Here in Ireland we call what you call tile pipes and what you did is what we call piped drains I've spent many hours in the drains joining lengths of 32 inch pipe together
OMG...the door-slamming thing works! It worked on my sister when we were growing up, and it worked on my oldest daughter. It only took once to teach the lesson and it wasn't a problem ever again.
You can literally see the front porch move when you walk on it in the time lapse. I’m pretty excited to see the new on. You all are doing an amazing job on that house for sure! 👍🏽👍🏽
Good job, sort off, with the perforated drainage pipe. One question, what is going to keep the dirt from going into the perforations and filling up the pipe? Did not see weed fabric or sock over the perforations. Also, where is the gravel on top of the perforated pipe to let water flow through? By the way, chlorine will dissipate out into the soil and also evaporate when exposed to air. Think about it, why do people need to keep add chlorine to a swimming pool? It turns into a gas/vapor and evaporates when exposed to open air.
Again, those jewels of Wisdom Daddy Corn Star throws out their are precious. Keep sharing you wisdom. You may never know the the results they bring but I believe there will be good ones.
I have to say... for some reason... this is my favorite episode of ALL of them that I have watched! I really love your channel! All of you put a smile on my face! THANK YOU!
Funny door story. I did the same thing to my oldest daughter when she was in middle school. It stayed off for several weeks. Good memories. Thanks for the reminder Daddy Cornstar. We think a lot alike and that's 👍 good.
Oh Daddy Cornstar I love your logic! I thought I was the only parent that did that...lol. If you can’t respect my home or my rules you lose the door to your room then you earn it back. Works great.
I love Daddy Cornstar's dadisms. We did that a couple of times for our boys too. Worked like a charm. I agree the tile layer is cool. She's a hard worker you can tell, because she's not afraid to get dirty. I think the whole thing is cool. Machines and all.
I grew up on a farm in Kansas. It has beautiful soil there as well. As a military wife moving to different states I realized how lucky I was gardening in Kansas vs other states.
Cole if it's in the porch budget you should really try to put new Corinthian style columns in when replacing the old ones. Gotta keep the character of that beautiful old house.
Daddy Corn Star, I love your answer to the slamming door. My daddy got tired of us kids taking "marathon" showers, so he just turned the hot water off when he thought we should be done. lol When my son was in high school we shared a computer. Needless to say, he would rather be on the computer than doing his homework. I changed the password on the computer so that he couldn't access it unless his homework was done and I had checked it. We learn some good stuff from our dads.
I really like how you make the digging of the graves just honest and real.. you don't over due the sadness factor or act all silly and disrespectful. Just normal I don't know. I can't explain myself well but I appreciate the normalization of how you approach it. We have been so removed and made to be scared of the dead in our society it's nice to see how your channel shows the burial aspect.
I hope you're able to reuse the pillars from the porch. The new ones don't look as decorative anymore. That was an interesting tile laying machine. I think they have something similar for laying other pipes, like electrical conduit and sprinkler/water systems. small victories everyday are so satisfying :))
Thanks, Cole, for teaching me something new every day! My Grandpa grew up on a farm. His parents sold it, though, so I never got to see it. Your videos give me a glimpse into the life he led, as a boy. You have an awesome, caring family, and it's great fun to watch all of you interact. Thanks for all the time you put into these videos, so that we can see life on a farm!
This reminds me of pipelining with my dad, he runs heavy equipment and we always run pipeline for rice fields. Muddy, gritty, and sometimes cold or burning hot and no shade but the bucket on the excavator.
When I was a youth i got into some trouble came home from school all I had in my room was my bed. Nothing on the walls no curtains even my bedding. I had a blanket and a pillow
Not much tile in my neck of the woods here in the south but i think they used to use clay tiles . Therefore tile machine. We did find one when water started disappearing in a rice field. My dad plug it up.

Hello from OK-myself and your fans are so excited to see your siding, porch and all the other improvements get done-like watching our own family. Your place is really looking good! ☝️
Daddy Cornstar: When my son was young & I told him he could not play with his legos the next day if Mom had to pick them up, he replied that he's just play with them while I'm at work. He found that to be a problem as, the next day, they were locked in the car trunk - at Mom's work. He was a fast learner.
My kids have lost their doors a few times now (slow learners) my tip is make sure you label which one is the pin from the top, middle and bottom. Makes putting the door back on just as fast as taking it off.
Love it. My daughter lost her door twice before she learned and my sons door is in the garage as we speak. 😂. Glad to know I’m not the only one known for pulling those hinge pins.
I know a family that took everything out of their son’s room except the mattress and bedding then took off the door. They said that he had to earn it back. They were only required to provide a roof over his head, basic food, and medical care. He needed to straighten up. It worked!
😊😊 As a Mom of two girls (They are all grown up now and doing great!) I just smiled like crazy when DC said, "It's easy. Just pull the door!" Yep. So I did! Works like a charm.
Love the door story! I used that philosophy a lot with my own kids on different things.......Yep, Christmas tree came down early one year because they wouldn't quit messing with it. True story and very effective thereafter!
We also took our daughter’s door off when she was 7. We said having a door was a privilege; took her 2 months to get it put back up. After that, no problem.🤗
Love DC wisdom, take door off.we slammed a door at grand parents going or comeing in we had so many like 10 open and shut that door and it better be quiet or u had do more then kiss the door and tell it sorry that you slammed it.we learned just like a grandson of 3 almost 4 is learning don't slam doors they will break.
Love it. I have three daughters and two of them have had their doors taken off a couple of times - once for slamming and once for not keeping their rooms tidy (they prefer 'floordrobes' to wardrobes)! Now my husband just has to get out his screwdriver and they run to clean their bedrooms!
See, here's a funny Thing. I'm 75. Born in 1945 in England 3 months before the end of WWII. Housing was scarce for the working classes in industrial cities because they were bombed a lot by the Luftwaffe. So I didn't have my own bedroom until I was about 13. Slept in the same room as my parents till I was about 10 and for a couple of years after that shared a bedroom with one of my grandmas. My first bedroom, oh my, I painted it myself, and the second hand furniture I got too. Life is funny. One person's hardship is another person's normal. Never had a door to slam. So I do love my own big bedroom and adjoining bathroom these days. 😉
@@Beruthiel45 I wish more kids these days knew how to be so grateful. I've tried very hard to teach my son to appreciate everything. What a wonderful story you shared! Thank you so much!
Oh no. I picked up rocks on our IA farm every summer growing up. As kids we couldn't understand why the field didn't run out. It was the dirtiest, suckiest job of the summer!
I am calling my daughter right now. Lol I have 2 grandsons who are constantly slamming their doors. As old as I am, never thought of taking the door off. Simple and remarkable solution. Thanks Daddy Cornstar.
My wife. She hears C🌽⭐ intro in the back room and shouts it with him and laughs!🤣 Good to see the crew all busy about living! I'm sure sub consciously ya'll don't take one moment of life for granted due to the other ministry you do taking care of others final resting places. Thank you for that. And the friendliness of Iowans! They say southern folks are the most hospitable and friendly. Well, I hauled John Deere tractors from a little place called Davenport and the shipping foreman and I after I'd hauled several loads became really good friends. We shared many dinners and told good ol boy stories for several years. I stayed with his family on lay overs and went to his Church. Y'all make me happy just seeing how you all have the Love of Christ melted and poured all over. Thanks for sharing your story. I gotta go before I get all mushy! 🌽⭐🚜🤙🤙👋👋✝️✝️🙏🙏🙏❤❤❤🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
OK Cole. Suggestion. Working just above your head. Get a coupla five gallon buckets, turn em upside down and put a 2x10 or 2x12 between them. A 10 or 12 footer beats crawling up and down a step ladder every three feet. Work great for cutting in ceilings when painting. Buckets won't mark up the floors either. Not quite high enough....stack up two or three buckets. Cheap and easy to move around.
When my daughter was little maybe 5 she would go in her room and lock the door. My wife got tired of it and flipped the handle so the lock was on the outside of the door. When my wife was satisfied that she had learned her lesson she switched it back. She never locked it again. My wife died when my daughter was 10 ( over 10 years ago) but she has never forgotten the lessons her Momma taught her. So Daddy Cornstars door story brought back some memories for me. This is one of the best channels on RUclips.
Your governor in S.D. is one of the few people that have any common sense in regards to corona. Here in NC we have Weeny governor Roy Cooper who thinks the people of his state can’t think for themselves. All kinds of shutdowns and mask mandates! 🤬

I've read about drain tiles regarding farm runoff in the stream & river ecosystems, but I had a totally different idea of what the tiles were. You know, tiles, flat ceramic things, so I'm really grateful for the education. It's good to understand how things work. I asked for the drain tile video, so thank you. Tile = tube. Go figure.
@Kathy Naber I think all the Cornstar's like to help each other and show appreciation for each other. I don't think anyone there is a handmaid/handyman.
Yes I did take her door! Lol she was a teen trying to "find herself" and fighting with her brother. Yelling at me and slamming her door. Slammed it so hard she'd rattle the windows. So I told her she had one more time and I'd take it. That night she did it again, I didnt even warn her, i just walked up to it with the Phillip's and popped the hinges off. I kept it off propped up next to her room for a month. It worked. No more slamming her door after she got it back. Lol
Great to see a young lady working with her dad. If Summer had lived in my house she would have been opening and closing that door a hundred times till she got it right. Same with running and stomping on the stairs (100 times up and down) you learned real quick!!
Cole, I just have to say that not only are you a neat freak, you are also patient. You get to the messes when you can, and until then, you just carry on.
I wonder what it would be like if Daddy Cornstar had his own RUclips channel. I bet it would be a hoot and a holler. Everything looking good Cole. God Bless many prayers and stay safe.

My son is trained. When I say, "Hey son? Right now you are 24. But what am I?" He answers, "Still the Mom."
@@jaymeharl3270 LOL I love that! My son is 24 also and he answers me with "You're the Mom, not the maid". And gets his cleaning done.
Why don't they use filter fabric or stone around the tile? Won't the tile get plugged without it?
I know a family that took everything out of their son’s room except the mattress and bedding then took off the door. They said that he had to earn it back. They were only required to provide a roof over his head, basic food, and medical care. He needed to straighten up. It worked!
😊😊 As a Mom of two girls (They are all grown up now and doing great!) I just smiled like crazy when DC said, "It's easy. Just pull the door!" Yep. So I did! Works like a charm.
The socalled tailing machine is atualy an Norwegian inventinon annd is called rådalshjul inn Norway😁
When we had a french drain dug they used a chain excavator which looks rather like a chain saw on a tractor!
@@debbipriz that's what we called it up in Washingron state too...a French drain.

I love it when a child realizes that you don't owe them anything, but you give them everything you can because you love them.
I wish you would save the old columns on the 103 year old house. It’s such a beautiful part of the houses history.
The older you get the more you appreciate history
Probably only two rocks in the entire state of Iowa.....you found both!!!!
Oh no. I picked up rocks on our IA farm every summer growing up. As kids we couldn't understand why the field didn't run out. It was the dirtiest, suckiest job of the summer!
Kathy Naber you should see upstate NY holy crap is there some rocks!
Talk about a punishment chore.."go pick rock in so and so field and don't stop until I come get you!!"...rather have my door taken! Lol
@@nathanmullaney6946 I live upstate ny and it was a nightmare trying to put a foundation in for our mountainside house
From Montana...Rocky Mountains got their name for a reason!
I hope you keep the round columns on the porch that is a detail that makes the farmhouse😊
My first thought when I saw the title was "I wonder if it's where they buried the rotten soy beans." LOL
I am calling my daughter right now. Lol I have 2 grandsons who are constantly slamming their doors. As old as I am, never thought of taking the door off. Simple and remarkable solution. Thanks Daddy Cornstar.
The girl working in the ditch ❤️❤️❤️ now that’s a Women
better ditch digger than gold digger
Need to paint "GraveDigger" on Nave's motorcycle gas tank.
Good idea but probably wouldn't get to see them ride the bike any more.sure that is copyright infringement. lOl
OK Cole.
If Daddy Cornstar was in Game of Thrones he'd be Podor. Pull the Door! Pull the Door! Pull the Door! Pu Door! Podor! Podor! Podor.
Fly over country seems to have an abundance of really capable women doing all sorts of jobs in agriculture. Is this a great country or what?
Fly over country has an abundance of really capable people period. Greetings from South Dakota.
Your governor in S.D. is one of the few people that have any common sense in regards to corona. Here in NC we have Weeny governor Roy Cooper who thinks the people of his state can’t think for themselves. All kinds of shutdowns and mask mandates! 🤬
@@joelchurch2499 She took a lot of heat for it and I totally agree. We have one big advantage due to our low population and to a large degree personal responsibility. Stay safe and healthy!
Go figure.
I'm here to check there's soda pop in the fridge for Cooper!
That ship has sailed. If he wants it now, it needs to be in the shop. House is private. Nave isn't anyone's handmaid. 😊
@Kathy Naber I think all the Cornstar's like to help each other and show appreciation for each other. I don't think anyone there is a handmaid/handyman.
@@fisherh9111 yes, I know. It was a little tongue in cheek, but also a little reminder that this isn't 1920 and Dorothy isn't n Kansas any longer.
Your soil looks really good!
When my daughter was young she had a habit of slamming her door too. And yes we took it for a couple of months lol
Took what?
Wait, you took her door off?!?!
Door?
She don't need no stinking door!!!
Perfect.
Lol
Daddy Cornstarch has so much wisdom! I loved the story about the girl slamming the door!!!!
The tile girl would be a good catch for Copper . She knows how to work
Copper already has a dime piece
Cooper might like to have a truckload of copper though.
Uh no
Bruh he has a gf
Great to see a young lady working with her dad. If Summer had lived in my house she would have been opening and closing that door a hundred times till she got it right. Same with running and stomping on the stairs (100 times up and down) you learned real quick!!
Wondering if Cole has another pair of socks like those he's wearing.
Larry Parish they are opposite but I bet he does 😊
Yep, I’ve got a pair just like this back at the house
Lol I'm thinking so.. Hehehee
If he's got two different feet shouldn't he have two different socks?
Thanks for another great video Cole !
That ditch digging machine was pretty cool. I'm surprised you didn't ask him if you could drive it.
We call that French drains 🤗❤💯
baby love ,,,,,,no!.....as a civil engineer a French drain is a trench completely filled to surface level with rock, no drain tile!....
@@RobertSmith-nm5vj not here in Hampton va on the water they still put that drain in to take the water away from making a swimming pool LOL🤗
100% with DC. I pulled both of my teens doors and did the exact same process! You are a man of good wisdom!
Some hard working chicks on this channel.👍
Cole, I just have to say that not only are you a neat freak, you are also patient. You get to the messes when you can, and until then, you just carry on.
I think the new name for the tile machine should be the “big toothed dirt eater 2000”.
I wonder what it would be like if Daddy Cornstar had his own RUclips channel. I bet it would be a hoot and a holler. Everything looking good Cole. God Bless many prayers and stay safe.
You mean to tell me in this time of pandemic, when everyone is dying...the grave digging business has been slow? ...Interesting.
