I know I'm gonna be bashed for this but even though I like Emma, I'd have preferred Sirenia to keep Ailyn. I really loved the direction they were into with the two last albums and was expecting Ailyn vocals after the album announcement. To me, Emma is one another operatic singer. She's really talented and into the music so I won't never say anything against her cause she does deserve a lot of respect and recognition for her art but I'm just sad about the singer replacement. I have pre-ordered the album and look forward to it though so, keep going on 😁

Romain O'Hara I thought the same when I listened to the first song, but after listening to the whole album, Emma does very good! I confess that I also miss Aylin, but Emma was the best choice for the replacement

Sirenia with Emmanuelle is True Sirenia. I hope any too high sounds like squeal-whistle will be eliminated from all songs. And all songs will be adapted for mezzo range, may be excluding "Angina" from Vibeke times because this song contains some agile-coloratura elements. But Sirenia knows better. Of course this album is intermediate.

Finally I won't have to skip the female voice parts in a Sirenia álbum. Been in love with Emma's voice since Existentia from Trail of Tears.
The beginning is fucking awesome. Emma's vocals are just great.
This song is one of the reasons I can still love Sirenia, even without the specific sweet gothic vocals of Ailyn who also had started using some opera-like vocals and showed her real range in the Perils of the Deep Blue and The Seventh Life Path (and she even used some "whistle vocals" - if you haven't heard about them, just check in Wikipedia - I can't explain what they exactly are). I just cannot not confess this is the straight continuation of the sound Sirenia had achieved before Ailyn being kicked out. And this is the reason I'm literally BEING EATEN INSIDE FROM IMPATIENCE for the upcoming album in the end of October. Gosh, I can't even wait for the single in a week I think...
Morten, great job, again! Emma's voice is very pleasant, so to me, she is an excellent choice for Sirenia. I can't wait to listen to the rest of the album. Thanks a lot and please keep doing such a gorgeous music! :-)

I'm disappointed they switched singers again. Ailyn grew on me and now it's like starting from scratch with a new singer. The band underestimates how significant a lead singer is, especially one that has sung on their last 4 albums. Ailyn had a elegance about her in her presence and voice I admired.
It's a nice relief since the previous works. Brings a bit more of old Sirenia back, though still missing Monika.

Fine, FINE! It's Sirenia. I was just thinking this morning, the words "time, my nemesis". And then I see this. Then the line about being 39 hit me in the gut. But I always miss Ailyn.
I personally liked Ailyn better, but this new vocalist is good too! Can't wait to hear the whole album! :D

Sirenia is the Shit! One of the Finest Gothic/Symphonic/Death/Doom metal rock bands I've ever heard. Huge fan since 2007.

I'm actually amazed at how good this album is, i was quite pessimistic about the new singer and the single that was brought out, but i am completely blown away.

One should never lose faith in Sirenia
I'm kind of starting to lose it... Arcane Astral Aeons had just three or four songs that could be saved and Riddles, Ruins & Revelations has just two good ones. I mean, it's not like the other songs are bad but they are not what I expected from them at all. This is just my opinion, of course, but the thing is that I'm quite disappointed with their latest releases (Dim Days of Dolor is awesome, though!!) even with a singer like Emma, who has an amazingly powerful voice (she's an opera singer, after all) 🤷🏻♂
It's not exactly 'At sixes and sevens' or 'An elixir of existence', but it's a step in a good direction. Excited to hear the album as a whole, which I can't say I was for any album after 'Elixir' :)

Dim Days Of Dolor is a very interesting album, I loved the lyrics. They seem to speak about things which happen in our lives and describe our feelings

All of the female singers of Sirenia have their own unique style of singing. Their early stuff is more atmospheric in the background, but I love all of their records. Todd McFarlane's Spawn and Marvel's Ghost Rider go along with all metal music too. I love when the alien-symbiote costume has bonded with Ghost Rider recently: looks fucking insanely awesome, even his motor cycle. ;) hee hee

I fell in love with Sirenia of At Sixes and Sevens and now it seems that nothing can surpass it. The older I am, the more unimpressed with new music I get. And I'm 23 ... should I be worried? But really - this was meh.

At Sixes and Sevens is a masterpiece. You can't expect the band to always deliver masterpieces. It's the type of album that only comes once in a while.
It's like with Nightwish when with each release some people say "it's not as good as Once". Um yeah, most probably none of their albums will ever be as good as this one.
So I just enjoy the new music even if it's not the best they've ever done ^_^
I'm the same age as you, and I feel the same way about music. Granted, I'm glad that I finally found a genre of music that I genuinely LIKE (symphonic metal), but as the years go on, I've also become harder to impress when it comes to music. In fact, it's become extremely rare that I immediately love a song the first time I hear it. Lately I have to hear a song multiple times in order for me to like it.
EmoNekoChan101 the more u listen to a genre, the more u will find less impressed cuz u get used to it and all u heard was just something similar from each band.

I will always love and prefer Monika Peterson. She was the best singer in my opinion. Love the nine destinies and a downfall album, after she left. I kinda put this band on the back burner so to speak. I didn't to much care for Ailyn but this is just too awesome!!! Very much love what I'm hearing!!!
It's a good song. I don't think Emma is better than Ailyn becouse she's different but I love her and I love Ailyn too. I prefer Emma bcz I love operatic voices. I want to see Emma and Ailyn together
Even though Emma's voice does sound a little like Ailyn's at times, Emma's has a bit more punch to it. Don't get me wrong - Ailyn has a beautiful voice of her own, but Emma really carries both the "fragile" sound of Ailyn and a richer, more powerful sound of her own. Good choice there.
The album was written for Aiylins vocals not Emmas but a few minor changes in the vocals here and there and its ready the new singer.

I think I am stuck in 2002, maybe because I was so excited of their first album, after breaking with Tristania. *sigh* But this is really great. There is nothing negative I could say. It's just, I prefer the doom elements because it makes it darker, deeper....the melancholy is missing.

I'm not going to throw hate against the new singer because she's good and talented, and well, it's not her fault at all, but I don't really mind Sirenia since the last album. Perils of the Deep Blue was great, but now Veland's music sounds too monotonous, like if he were producing for the sake of producing. I also miss Ailyn, she may not have an epic voice but she was the stability and final identity of the band, and that's more important than anything. I don't really know what Morten was thinking, It seems as if he likes to collect vocalists or something, not cool.

I was never a big fan of Ailyn and I was really looking forward to hearing Emmanuelle's songs with Sirenia. But I think the voice doesn't fit the music well. Actually, I think they have always problem with new singer's vocals in the singer's first album. Ailyn was completely out at "13th Floor" too. But I really fell in love with the choir in this song and I believe Emmanuelle can do better. :D As for lyrics ... I understand the message and I know it's important ... but it's all so raw and straight. Nothing hidden, nothing special. I never thought Sirenia are lyrics masters but this is just poor ...

Sirenia has problems with their singers, in general. They're on their FIFTH singer! I also never really liked Ailyn's voice, but I at least had respect for her that she stayed with Sirenia for so long.
I think Emmanuelle's voice is fine, personally. I think Sirenia fans will ultimately warm up to her, eventually.
EmoNekoChan101 Yes I got used to her and began to like her actually quite soon. Emannuelle sounds much better in the rest of the album. Her voice is great. But I still think it doesn't fit the music well. She needs something a bit darker, not this pop catchy sound that Sirenia developed. I think this sound was ok with Monika and Ailyn but this voice just needs the real metal. :D ;)
