How good is a band when 70-plus-year-old rockers and teenagers of both sexes and everyone in between, from all sorts of different cultures and backgrounds, are going nuts for them? The music makes you feel so happy and alive, and every part of it is so beautifully done that you just want more, and more and more. Hats off to you girls for a splendid reaction video - you picked a winner, let's see some more!

@Bobby K you're some kind of special. They're a ROCK band. But the founder member was originally trying to become an idol. So they have some pop idol structures in some of their songs. And what's so wrong with that? Theres a reason pop music is popular. Its catchy, and then when you mix that with their exceptional musicianship it's just great music

They sound just like every other band from japan that tries to play rock...not hating here but watch any japanese drama and you ll hear something exactly like that in the start of the ending of each episode....

The concept the got from Miku Kobato (vocals/guitar). She worked as a maid at a cafe, she had a little earlier left a girl band, and started to think about forming a band. So she met Kanami online who were making youtube videos and gave lessons on guitar. She knew Akane, who had been drumming for her some times. Akane knew a bassplayer from her Music studies...
These 3 makes the backbone of the band and probably one of the tightest in the business.
They got a band, but Miku wasnt satisfied: She have a good voice, but it lacked the Power for hard-rock, so they searched for a singer. They had auditions, and came to Saiki, who was lured into the band.
Now… they had a main vocalist they actually didnt need Miku, so Misa and Kanami made her learn to play the guitar so she could do "something". Well… after 6 years she has become a good rythm guitarist.
You see: her agent knew she would'nt join if she knew about the "theme"...
That's one of the reasons why you see her and the bassist have an other style of maid-costumes.

The live for Alone is great, but this is probably one of the few songs of their where I prefer the MV
Band Maid is a Hard Rock band who incorporate several elements like metal, punk, pop and even blues into their music.
The main instrumental section Kanami- lead guitarist, MISA- bass and Akane- drums are all professionally trained musicians who have been playing multiple instruments since as young as 4 years old. They are in their late 20s now.
Kanami is also the one who writes all of their music while Miku- rhythm guitarist/backup vocals, does the lyrics alongside Saiki- main vocalist.
The band was started by Miku in 2013 who found Kanami on the internet and recruited her. Then Kanami got Akane to join in, as they knew each other and had played together in previous occasions. In turn, Akane recruited MISA who graduated from the same music institute as her.
Later on, Miku having realised her voice wasn’t suitable for Hard Rock passed over the vocals to Saiki who joined them through an audition.
Watch again and in the middle of Kanami’s guitar solo, you’ll see Miku throw her head back and just SMILE! She’s celebrating like, “YA TA!” meaning “Yeah! We did it!” See, this was their first song completely composed, arranged and lyrics written by themselves that was allowed to be recorded and released for their 3rd album! It’s very special to them and the fans.💪🏻🤘🏻

The best rock band on the planet, IMO. I discovered them about a year ago and wish I would have found them earlier. So much talent, beauty and personality.

I never get tired of watching someone discover Band-Maid for the first time. Good reaction. If you plan to do more I would recommend their live videos but you can't lose no matter which one you pick. I have never followed a non-English speaking band before these ladies so I guess it shows music can shatter barriers.

This was the song that hooked me. Band-Maid's first original composition lyrics by Miku, music by Kanami and arranged by Band-Maid. Since then 98% of all their songs are original compositions. Maid Cafés employed Miku before she founded the band. Sacramento loves Band-Maid.

Great, natural, reaction. Still one of my favorite songs even though they've put out about another 30 killer songs and have gotten better since the album this one came on. The solo gives me goosebumps every time. Cuts right thru ya, doesn't it? Girl Power!

Most of their videos are darkly lit. I feel it's so the music takes center stage as opposed to their appearance. That and it follows the dynamics of the music. In other words the lighting builds with the music. They're all incredible in their ability emote the message of the song.

The young gal in the middle gets it, there is no artifice when she rocks. And no, not just anyone can rock a guitar solo, what you see from Kanami is hours of practice AND passion. Technique like that doesn't just happen, one drills it into their muscle memory by training. Great band, good reaction.

Oh, that was a lovely and cool reaction to Band-Maid ladies. Band-Maid is proud new member in the league of the real great ones. They got it all: Complex but catchy, versatility, great musicianship, top notch interplay, soaring vocals and beautiful harmonies and a insane powerful driving engine - one of the best rhythm section ever ... and last but not least refreshing ego free and goofy personalities
There are other great female Bands to discover in Japan, like GacharicSpin, Aldious, Bridear, Lovebites, Mary’s Blood and many more, but no one comes close to Band-Maid as full package in my opinion.

You girls reactions are so fun to watch. I wish you would revisit Band-Maid and react to some more of their songs. They have some great heavy rock (Moratorium, Rinne, No God), Some great ballads (About Us, Memorable), and some awesome instrumentals (Onset, From Now On) just to name a few. Don't be afraid of No God. It is not about there not being a God but is about feeling alone and rejected. Some of the words sung in partial English even say that she truly believes the story of Adam and Eve and the love that they had for each other. About Us is a power ballad that they wrote to thank their fans for sticking with them through the Covid pandemic. I don't know if you can find it online but the lead singer Saiki gave a sincere speech before the first time that they played it live with no audience present because of the pandemic.

Hey, great reaction once again! I have a few other suggestions for other female bands/singers you ladies might like. One is another all female Japanese metal band called Lovebites. I suggest their video for either the songs Rising and/or Shadowmaker to start with. Another different style rock/metal band with a female singer that you three might like is Infected Rain. Maybe try someday the videos for the songs Orphan Soul, Mold, or Black Gold. :-)

All-girl rock bands are a pretty common thing in Japan. You can also check out Scandal, Silent Siren, Bridear, Gacharic Spin, Trident, Yonige, Lovebites, The Peggies, and dozens of others.
They are a phenomenal LIVE band, but their MVs are great too.

These girls have so much personality they are interesting even apart from the music but they have about 80songs and I'm glad you started with one of the older songs. But live performance is where this band really shines. Try the recently released live version of DOMINATION that came out a couple of months ago. There's been another album release since this song came out but this is the most recent concert from the line cube concert in Shibua. Then about half way through the song you will see the girls rock out.cheers.

Band founder Miku (the cute one with pigtails) was briefly in an idol band, and while working in a maid cafe came up with the idea of creating a hard rock band which contrasted a feminine, submissive image with aggressive music. She found lead guitarist Kanami on RUclips, Kanami suggested Akane (who she'd played with previously) as their drummer and Akane brought in MISA on bass (they went to the same music school). Miku originally did all the vocal work but they added Saiki to beef up the sound after auditioning singers.
These are just a few of my favourites and the selection by no means exhausts their catalogue of great music! Unfortunately their record label is having a bit of a purge at the moment so some of the links to live recordings may not be working.

This is my favorite band at this moment and definitely of of my favorite bands of all time. They are so good it hurts (hurts so good...) ... They have plenty of videos so you could go that way, but as I saw in the comments already, you start watching them live and it's really addictive. They really are THAT good... Kanami (the guitar player) is the sweetest person in the whole world and a beast on stage...
This song "Alone" is the first song written and composed by them that got approved by the label, so, you started reacting to a very dear and very special song for them and for the fans as well. From here, you can go anywhere, everything these ladies do is from Great to Phenomenal. So, all songs will always feel like they are too short. :-)
It's a pity many of the Band-Maid live videos had been taken off from RUclips, so, as a suggestion, try "Domination" live at Line Cube Shibuya 2020 (last February 14th) ( ruclips.net/video/QbyQCJn6rYg/видео.html )... this whole show is phenomenal and "Domination" is almost the end of the show and sadly, the video doesn't show but Saiki (vocals) talks to the crowd almost shading a tear...
