Hello Dr Lori, in a previous video you were talking about lutz marbles when you found them at a thrift store. I was wandering how you identify a lutz marble compared to another brand and how to tell what types/designs of these marbles are more valuable?
I have learned so much from the University of Dr. Lori. I'm going to hire her for priority Ask Dr. Lori when my Dad's full knee replacement is healed in about a month. ❤❤❤
Forever so grateful for the beauty of information you share with us all! Also how you interact and teach us all with such ease!! As always, this video is so insightful! Thank you Dr Lori for your wealth of knowledge!! Wishing you and your loved ones a great holiday, and the very best !
Especially abstract prints from the 60s. But there's one I found at Goodwill outside Baltimore about 5 years ago. I saw it in a cart being ready to put out on shelves and couldn't believe my good fortune. The frame is outstanding, I say museum quality, measures 10"x 12". It's like 3 frames stacked. There's crossed bows or wheat I think it is a post mortem painting, it feels like pastels were the medium the artist used. No signature or any markings. Two little ones with eyes closed, I wouldn't think that it would have been done if the children were alive. Especially the quality of the frame which I believe, is the real worth I paid 4 dollars. It has a a wooden back. I would love to know more and if is valuable. Thank you for what you are doing to help. Oh, I have said for 30 years, it's worth what someone gives you for it !
Hello Dr Lori! Love your dry humor!! I'm a disabled retired widow, an old picker, thrift store, Goodwill etc. I had some good buys and great sales. I've been away since my beloved hubby of 35 years passed 14 years ago. My has the market changed. My hubby was an excellent artist, though didn't earn a living from it. I love good, simple prints, watercolor paintings, lithos.... I go nuts trying to read artist's signatures so I can look them up. I have some I'd love to email you with photos, can you tell me who the artist is

Hi Dr. Lori! I love your channel. I have a question about porcelain. I am new to collecting, and I bought a few lots of gorgeous Antique porcelain plates, cups, and teapots. I put pictures of them up in an antique forum I frequent, only to be told how utterly worthless and over saturated the porcelain market was and that if it wasn't Chinese porcelain, it has at best "decorative" value. Is this true? I love the pieces I have acquired so far but now I'm hesitant to invest any real money into my collection.
Have you watched my Ask Dr. Lori videos where I talk about online forums? Know your sources and their agendas. Value will depend on the piece. Learn before you buy. I have tons of articles on my website and videos including a playlist at ruclips.net/p/PLedo2ubiWRdTPKvMKiDQF0G_8UyJh9aKL that focus on ceramics. I also help teach people by using their own collections as examples during video calls and by reviewing photos.
Hi Dr. Lori, I have heard some of the online sells for Pyrex for thousands of dollars were some type of illegal payment for drugs etc. People in a online chat said some of those 10,000 plus sales were to one address in Fl. and the people involved were arrested. Sorry I don't have more detailed info, but that's just another reason why people shouldn't go by online listing even if there sold listings. Let's face it! We all need Dr Lori's advise and help. : )
Thank you Dr.Lori ! I got my spot for the Tuesday feb 16 live event! So excited hope to see everyone there if the still have tickets ! ❤️comes with one free appraisal.
I have a question Dr. Lori: do you ever go on vacation? Take Sundays off? Lol, thank you for all you do. I am learning so much. What can you tell us about buying art prints in portfolios?
I scored some German masterwork art prints in auction that I know darn well are worth something and intend to get them appraised (😉). I’m so excited I can barely contain myself! So after celebrating with some wine last night I made some more bids on other types of prints... One is a signed abstract print, some vintage Americana prints and a book of the month portfolio masterpiece book. I guess in my inebriated state I figured if they came in a portfolio maybe that matters... lol, don’t drink and auction
Another informative video thanks so much! I have a picture my mom gave me from the 70's. It's a reprint of The Hay Wein" Are older reprints of any value? or only originals?
Thanks for watching! Many factors affect value and the word prints covers such a broad range of different types of pieces. To accurately answer that question I have to see your piece. You can send me photos or show me during a video call if you want. There is not just one answer fits all for prints. That pretty much applies to any art, antique or collectible too.
How long has plastic craft wire been used in fine and or vintage jewelry? Some of the pieces that I get are absolutely beautiful but they’re stretchy bracelets and I don’t know if they have any value or not. Even if they have a tag, it’s very hard to find where they’re from. Even if the other findings, such as beads or balls that look like gold and are not magnetic steel I don’t know if it’s just a piece of cheap jewelry. Can you help me please, Dr. Lori?
Good question about the plastic craft wire, I'll add it to my bowl for a future Ask Dr. Lori video! I can help you with identify your specific pieces, just need to see those.

What can you say to that potential value or a range or other advice? Thank you kindly. Seasons Greetings

Now Dr. Lori, I don't know what kind of silver my grandmother had, but my Mother always cleaned it with Downey, an aluminum turkey pan and very hot water. She'd throw in a couple pieces then pull them out immediately and into plain hot water. Then we fished them out and dried them right away. I wish my Step-Mother had left the silver in the special wooden box because the history of the silver was written under the lining in the bottom drawer. I know you'll probably tell me to get an appraisal from you, but, how do I know what they are? I'm waiting for my Step-Sister to bring the set to me and I don't remember if they had any hallmarks or writing on them. Thanks ps. How do I clean pearls? Well I believe they are real, they are knotted but I haven't a clue. They were my Mothers.
