This is really good. It's pretty rare to hear about the actual struggle to get into love, the requirement to love yourself, and the knowledge of how to love and be loved. Most of the time, people just skip these, or give mild flirting advice at best.

Wich describes for me 60% of love due to 1 our perception of how good we are, 2 the spectancy of something being so perfect that is unachiveable and 3 the fear of getting it and ruining it anyway that can rot people down faster that spected

i needed to hear this because my current partner is healing from some very serious trauma, and as much as I want to swoop in and make everything better for them, it will take more time than we've currently been together. sometimes i get impatient, i want to pour all my affection over them because i think they're perfect and deserve the world, and i feel like sometimes they can be a little reserved in comparison to me. but they ARE warming to me, they aren't frigid at all, it's just my dumb emotions telling me things are worse than they are.

Love is not an emotion. Love is a complex set of long-term feelings that is intertwined with a concept of free will, hwever that one manifests itself, and might as well stem from the way timespace continuum organizes itself with gravity or something. No wonder there's no formula.
Oh, also greeks were wrong. Love is universal, it just can get mixed with other feelings. You love your father, your brother and your wife the same way, but also experience different additional feelings towards them.
