the modular approach to CPU/GPU is by far the most interesting piece of tech out of CES in terms of gaming laptops. only strix halo is missing from their lineup hopefully it will be added in the future at a reasonable price.
It’s a thing of beauty unfortunately impossible to buy anywhere….some stupid PR stunt of Asus collab with some designer firm. I bought Razor oled instead.
This brand seems very slept on when it looks to offer the best features and specs vs everyone else... First off they have an all metal design on the NEO 16 (something Lenovo use to do but they went cheap plastic a few years ago). 300hz mini LED and they even have optional water cooling. After 6 years with Legion 7 laptops I'm very much thinking of making the jump to XMG. I love the all black metal clean/minimalistic design.
yes it dose 3 months after the intel is released its been conformed by there hear product designer tom at ces it will have 5090 at 175w and up 196 gb ram it will use the flagship 3d amd cpu
@@onebigfamily2446 XMG will bring the 9955HX3D cpu from AMD to the Neo 16 in Q2, and lots of people asked for it since the X3D is the worlds best gaming cpu
XMG looks an underrated brand, they have good laptops especially it comes with water cooling case ,idk why people don't give them the love they deserve like other brands like Legion,Asus ..etc I would like to get on of their laptops but unfortunately their website is banned in my country so I can't get full access to their products.
In my opinion it's because they're crazy expensive. On sales you can have a Lenovo Legion 5 with good specs up to a 4070 140w, for 900€, with an excellent on-site customer service. For XMG you'll have to drop double of that.
@atomka2433 I think it's because the 2023 models weren't very good. It had poor build quality, still thermal throttled even with liquid cooling, and overall wasn't worth the price. Tongfang (the reseller that XMG and Eluktronics use for their laptops) did make massive improvements in 2024 and they were actually one of the few laptops worth buying that year. 2025 looks to be really nice for them, if they can get an AMD laptop with an RTX 5090.
What market are you from? There are other laptop OEMs that use the same chassis in different markets. XMG sells these laptops in Europe and the UK, while Eluktronics sells them in the US.
Any info on the Neo 16's cooling? Do they stay with regular heatpipes or does it finally come with a vapor chamber like many competitors do for years? Why did they remove the fan outlets at the sides? Neo 16 2024 looked elegant and offered perfect combination of decent portability and enough thickness for cooling. Is the new Neo's cooling an upgrade?
Copy/paste answer from the other channel: XMG NEO 16 (E25) does not include a vapor chamber because our R&D team found that it would not provide a significant additional cooling benefit in this specific design. Instead, we’ve focused on optimizing the cooling solution with larger fans, a thicker heatsink, and higher air pressure and airflow compared to the previous generation. These improvements will enable the NEO to sustain up to 235 watts combined CPU+GPU power with air cooling alone. Additionally, the integration of the liquid cooling loop in the NEO series allows it to reach 285 watts combined power with excellent thermal performance, which aligns better with the demands of high-performance gaming and content creation. Adding a vapor chamber would have increased the weight, cost, and complexity of production without offering substantial performance gains. We believe this approach strikes the best balance between performance, efficiency, and overall product design. // Tom
The core chassis (and it's watercooling) is made by Tongfang. They do listen to reseller feedback though so it's not like the old days of Clevo where resellers had to pick up the pieces of whatever Clevo couldn't do properly, like firmware and control software Fwiw, Prema, the guy who put Clevos like the P870 on top of every laptop benchmark list ever, works with Eluktronics
if its easier to cool the GPU externally, why not house the GPU externally? Why isn't everyone doing what Asus is doing with their XG mobile? It makes the laptop modular as well, allowing for a GPU upgrade for any laptop
In theory, as it's a separate PCB. But highly proprietary and given the history of Clevo's last proprietary GPU boards, they'll be very expensive when a current model And cheap only after it is already obsolete (e.g. $500 3080 16Gb)
That 18 inch Clevo is the only new 18 inch laptop worth getting. You can get it with the Prema Bios and it doesn't have the horrible software Asus, MSI, Razer, and Dell put in. It's made for enthusiasts
There's a reason laptops like the razer blade and macbook pro and yes even the thinkpad have a certain design identity that stands the test of time. And nobody calls them archaic or old fashioned.
@@cameronbosch1213 tbh, we've only fully seen Legion 7 Pro, which was always a bit more beefy than the rest of the lineup (except 2022 model, it looked sooo sleek). I think "non-Pro" Legions will look just fine.
