Light Elegance Comparisons: Color Gel to Buttercream Conversions | Gel Nails

  • This is a video I've been sitting on for a while.
What I am doing here is comparing the buttercream versions that were newly released since Light Elegance is pulling away from color gels.
As I've said, this will probably be one of my last comparision videos with products from this brand because the expensive price of the buttercreams and their constant sheerness is becoming not enough to justify the price.
If I got 15 mL of product for $15, I'd be OK with that. That's $1/mL. But the price is 5 mL for $15 or so, so that's $3/mL and I have to do two coats. I'll be looking more and more at other brands since everyone is HEMA free now for the most part.
I am currently looking at Fuzion b/c their color gels are still one coat coverage. Not sold on their Fortify Line, but I am sold on the potted gels and builders.
I am also looking at MLaq b/c those look GREAT.

They're so hit or miss for me too and I have a good amount of buttercreams. Glitters have been very repetitive lately. Wondering if LE will ever bring something more fun to the table instead of saying they're revolutionizing the industry with pop off nail forms that have been around forever and abs plastic full cover tips. (I will eat my words and buy a few things from them here and there)

I have the lazy day lavender and you’re right, it’s the old formula lol thicc boi!! 😂but for what it’s worth, I’m kinda sad they did away with the color gels! I thought you got a lot more for the money. I now only buy the p+ colors unless I love it enough for a buttercream lol but the p+ colors have been a great hit for me! Still get the glitters in the pot though! Only way for the glitter gels imo!❤

I have to agree. I started focusing on glitter gels as opposed to the colors because I find myself doing more and more dimensional nails as opposed to single color nails or more Korean style jelly art nails.
However, since hte jar style changed, I've only actually bought two jars since then... everything else has felt like a repeat.

I loved Devil Wears Guava (in color gel) in the pot but didn’t love it on my nails. I may try the Buttercream just to see if I like it on my nails.

What I did was I put down a thin layer, cured that, put down a wet layer and took the #1 dotting tool and I went in circles about the nail so I could get a crushed velvet look.
It looks so much better than a straight look. I wonder if it might work with the buttercream...

Would you compare what you think is a dupe from Fuzion to LE. 🙂! Or your fav Fuzion colours?

I don't think I've found any 1:1 dupes from LE to Fuzion. I like Fuzion for their one coat colors, and more reasonable cost per mL of product.
Like a recent one: Moscato -- I thought it would be like Get Buzzed or Wipeout, but it was completely different... and better

I’m hoping Cheryl Fuzion owner gets back to making bottled gel colours. I’m not getting into the gel polishes 🙂. I’ve been casually collecting Fuzion for 7yrs 🌸. When they went to the white dot on the outside I kinda stoped because I can’t see what the colour is,, not all of my distributions do the swatches 😒.
