Nice review as always! For this kit, I really liked the bass drum. For the other drums, they lacked fullness, and it’s possible new good heads will fix that like you suggest in your review.

I just picked up this kit for small acoustic gigs & pit orchestra work; I replaced all the heads with Remo Ambassadors, and replaced the snare wires.... the drums sing out much better with the new Remo's, although Evans G2's should work equally well. It's actually my 3rd kit (my other 2 are Yamaha), but I'm pleased with this purchase.

i swap out my heads to evans g2 on toms and ps3 on snare. very nice results.
i did have to notch out the wood bd hoop where the pedal attaches for bd pedal clearance.
the hardware is very good. the snare punches above its weight class. i did find the strainer tends to loosen while playing heavy backbeats.
all in all, well worth the money.

If its aimed at jazz players, why wouldn't they ship it with coated heads on the toms? Otherwise seems like a great kit for that price.

Certainly doesn't sound like a bop kit

Does the Bonewood wrap look pink in person? I love this kit, but I really don't want pink!

The new line out (this is the old) has a birch and maple line. The birch line has a different colours like a white sparkle if you prefer.

Good point, but 10” toms are more compact, and can be tuned to same pitch as a 12” tom in a jazz tuning, and head won’t stretch as much. I agree though, 12” is traditional. I thought about adding the 12” if I ever get this (and a double tom holder)
