How to Make Dipped Beeswax Taper Candles with Old World Charm

  • We had the most enjoyable winter evening dipping beeswax candles and making our own homemade beeswax tapers from our very own backyard bees. Let me show you the process for making homemade taper candles and give you some tips we learned along the way.

    01:44 Step 1 - Melt your beeswax in an old pot or double broiler method
    01:50 Step 2 - Prep your area
    01:56 Step 3 - Tie the weight on to your string
    02:12 Step 4 - Pour the melted wax into your dipping jar and cold water into another jar of similar height
    02:25 Step 5 - Start dipping your string in the wax and then the water
    02:42 Step 6 - When finished, clip the nut off the candle and mold the base of the candle
    02:53 Step 7 - Trim the top of the string or wick
    02:57 Step 8 - Use a lighter flame to melt and make drip marks for a candle with character!

    04:35 Tip 2 - Don't clip the weight off until you are done
    04:51 Tip 3 - Trim the wax drips at the bottom while in the process

    I enjoyed viewing your video. I have raised bees and know well the aroma of beeswax and honey. 🥰. Do you get the beeswax from the frames when you prepare the frame to gather honey? If not, how do you gather your “OWN” beeswax? Ps. Do you light your candles or just use them for decoration?
