    The very simplest solution was to keep the best 5.7liter engine ever produced in the automotive industry, my 2005 SR5 has now 673,000 miles and my 2014 SR5 with 485,000 miles have only had one alternator changed and both starters nothing else and the 5.7 is as strong as when we purchased. This turbo charged little V6 as the entire world can now see will never go those miles ever!

      Agreed! I myself use the old 4.7L V8 and 5.7L V8 on my land cruisers. Bulletproof and naturally aspirated. I will never buy these turbo V6's unless they show they can last 500K miles no issues. I hear some people on the community mentioning their new land cruiser V6 turbo has main bearing issues on the engine, red flag it's over stressed on too small an engine.

    My nephew had a Toyota truck that had the frame severally rust out, he took it to the dealership to have it repaired since it was supposed to be replaced under a recall, they told him that the frame was still in good shape and did nothing for him.
    About a month later he brought his truck back for an alignment and they told him that his truck was unsafe to drive because his frame was collapsing because his frame was rusted out. Sadly they told him that the recall was no longer honored and he was on his own

    He's spot on about Toyota taking care of these engines for life. If you have one of these trucks, it's like knowing your engine will always be taken care of. They will not leave their customers to eat any loss on this. Toyota can afford to make this right and they will. Thanks for the follow-up. I saw another video where someone else used your footage, and the comments were harsh. I bought a 2024 model about four months ago and I love it. Is it perfect? No, it's not. Seeing all these negative videos about this truck makes me very nervous. I think any new car or truck can experience engine failure, regardless of the brand. I even saw a video of a GMC Denali needing a new engine due to a failure. Considering Toyota sold about 500,000 of these in the last three years in the States and only around 100 have failed, I'd say those are pretty good odds. Keep posting videos, my man.

    I’m just relieved someone that’s knowledgeable as yourself.. is on here explaining all of this putting our mind at ease..With us current Tundra owners..
    I just bought a 1794 Trd off Road.. Feeling like I was starting to have buyers remorse..? I’ve been watching lately a few people here on RUclips talking badly of tundra showing stats percentage they’re not gonna last?? Telling others to Buy a Nissan frontier..😑 instead?… Toyota has built a brand that stood for years.. I owned about 5 4runners and two Lexus GX 460s.. I wanted something a bit larger for my hobbies.. more practical of my lifestyle.. I needed the room for long road trips as well.. Sometimes it’s so negative when people all they want to post is when something goes wrong?? I see the percentage is still low with the engine issues… They’re also saying Toyota is plastic and cheap inside. It’s a truck. It’s not a AMG ,BMW or an Audi. It’s a truck I wouldn’t want that super luxury interior.. when camping and going into outdoors.. this is about reliability the back of the Toyota hopefully which goes back to the dealerships? That is willing to help. I don’t want to live a constant fear that my truck is going to die.. out on the road.. Honestly I’ve not seen one with problems..

    You are right, replacing a failed engine with a short block is not a big issue. But speaking from personal experience the customer is not made whole after the work has been done. There is the Car Fax report that follows the vin to worry about. Any dealer work or auto body work that shows up on the Car Fax report and is not routine maintenance will reduce the price of your vehicle when selling or trading it by 10 to 30 percent below the same vehicle that has not had an engine replacement or body damage repaired. You find this out when you go to sell or trade in your vehicle. Once your sign the paper work and you own the vehicle you are out a significant amount of money even thought your problem may have been fixed. I have had both circumstances affect what I received for my trade. The only way a customer can be made whole is to have the manufacture buy back the vehicle and issue the customer a new truck with a clean vin (car fax report). I have had to do this and it's not fun. Toyota or any other auto maker that is confident in what they build could get ahead of the customer concerns about an engine failure and simply replace the truck. If this is truly a rare occurrence this approach would be much less detrimental to Toyota's or any other manufactures reputation. Let the manufacture take a 30 percent hit when the factory fixed buy back goes to auction instead of the customer. Put the customer first for once!

    • @user-tb7rn1il3q
      @user-tb7rn1il3q 4 месяца назад +1

      I guess it depends on how many miles the vehicle has on it. I’d think it would improve the value if it gets rebuilt after 50k miles. I assume it would come with an extended warranty. The failure rate on this engine is extremely low (less than one half of one tenth of one percent.

    • @wayneanderson991
      @wayneanderson991 4 месяца назад

      @@user-tb7rn1il3q Problem is the replacement is a short block from Toyota not a crate engine so all other components would have 50K miles on them. Dealers looking at a car fax on your trade don't see added value in this sort of repair( band aide). A complete crate engine might change the scenario a bit but the consumer is always the looser when an engine fails. If the failure rate is in fact as low as you claim, wouldn't it be nice to have a manufacture have the customers back and simply stand behind what they sell and replace his vehicle to make him whole again in the purchase of said vehicle? I can see a scenario when a vehicle is out of warranty and the manufacture would help out things with a short block, but that is not how it works presently.

    I don't think anyone is questioning you or other Toyota techs abilities to rebuild engines, you obviously have the experience to IF needed. However, I think what most people are upset with is the fact that you and other techs are required to do this. Most people that buy a $50k-$80k vehicle don't expect this to happen, and if it does, they certainly don't expect a tech to essentially have to be "perfect" in getting the rebuild right. No one wants to wonder if the tech decided correctly on what parts should or shouldn't be replaced outside of the short block, most people that spend this kind of money expect new to be new, and if Toyota messed up from the factory, well, give me another new one then (maybe an entirely new truck). It affects value of the vehicle too, depreciation of the vehicle is bad enough new, add in a Carfax record that says "replaced engine at 7,000 miles" and there goes another 5k-10k off the price. Great job doing what you do, I know from experience it takes a long time and a lot of effort to be as good as you guys are, we just don't think you should be required to do it this way due to either engineering flaws or original manufacturing issues.

    • @TheYotaChannel
      @TheYotaChannel  4 месяца назад +2

      As a technician, i would love to install a complete motor instead of a short block. Unfortunately, Toyota doesn't offer a complete motor. Only on the 2018 Camry when they had an issue with oversized pistons being installed from manufacturing, that's the only time they've sent us a complete motor.

    • @tellucas
      @tellucas 4 месяца назад +2

      Agreed, the entire power unit should of been returned to the manufacturer and at least a remanufactured unit should of been sent out. Your asking for trouble to have a dealer tech who doesn't do this type of work on the regular to rebuild the engine. If it blows again, is it the dealer of the manufacturer who takes the hit, I wouldn't want to be in the middle of something that expensive.

What did Toyota do about 2GR's blowing up outside of warranty in 3rd gen Tacomas? Left them out to dry. Frames?? They didn't start replacing all frames until they were SUED for billions of dollars. They first put out a LSC for "cold weather states". They played all kinds of games to weasel out of replacing rotted out frames.

      Million mile engine 😂 there's no examples of this engine hitting that miles. its still too new. Just the assumption it will do it because its a Toyota.
      Toyota will never screw over anyone😂 they scewed over a lot of people with the oil burning camrys.
      Here in Australia a lot of people getting screwed by paint peeling on Toyotas that are barely 5 years old. Toyota has become a joke over the past 10 years

    Wripping a car like this and do an engine rebuild definitely breaks the car's value, and also what is the root cause and the accurate fix?
    There are 2024 LX/Tundra that are still having the same issue, that tells me these engines are total failures and no one should go near them, starting from 2018 LS 500.

  • @randallsmith7885

    I wonder if Toyota understands why this failure is occurring?

    Its unforgivable that Toyota has allowed this to happen this far into the game. I don't care about warranty whe a family is broke down in the middle of nowhere.

    Looks like to me it would be cheaper to do install crate motor! The short block is a cheap fix! The metal is all over that engine an it will not get 300,000 like the old V-8!!

    This little v6 engine is overstressed and over worked. It will unfortunately not last 100k-200k miles especially if you tow heavily

    How about these manufacturers stop having joe public do their R&D while they own the vehicle!

    A 5.7 liter with a 10 speed would fix all this.

    Toyota is just screwing over it's customer!!! They should put in a brand-new crate engine!!!! You guy's are good but Toyota is taken the cheap route and FN the customer.
