Hey everyone, thanks for all the views and comments over the last few weeks while I was working on this video. Now this is a pretty massive departure from my normal content, and it includes a lot more of my take on the lore rather than a complete retelling. SO with that in mind please let me know what you think of it! I want to know if you would like more videos like this one or if I should go back to the older style. And don't forget to vote in the community poll! ruclips.net/user/postUgkxtqTwnR8VG4YJPWClXf337xBq2gJf49dv
I am glad you like the stories I have been adding. They are a lot of fun to write and even more fun to voice act. I don’t have any plans to open a patreon, but I do have a lot of fun plans for this channel so keep an eye out for that.
@@One_More_Page Oh I feel you, I can completely understand having fun with the voicing and writing aspects more than anything. I'm always tempted to start up a channel or podcast or what ever just so that I could do similar, it seems like a gratifying hobby
Brilliant! Honestly wasnt expecting this one to be so long, will be watching it tonight when i have a chance to finish it off. Been looking forward to this one the most bus. Hehe
Definitely like this style of video. I think in a few years we'll be able look back and point to this video as the moment you found your full voice for this channel. For me, what makes loretubers for that Other Game(tm) stand out is when they bring emotional depth and context, as well as analysis and extrapolation. Fiction like this interspersed with the lore is a great way of doing this. Given how shallow the official published GDF lore currently is, I would have no qualms about expanding on the official material to create *your* Grimdark Future universe, even if OPR later publish something contradictory (though personally I think OPR would be crazy not to bring you on board lore their creation process in some capacity) Are you trying to read the whole text in one take? I noticed you seemed to stumble more later in the video. That's OK and not a criticism, you recovered and kept the flow going well. I've even head a Black Library book on Audible where the reader flubs then says "sorry let me do that again..." which the editor obviously missed. My understanding from talking to a pro voice artist is that what we hear as an uninterrupted narrative is usually recorded as multiple much smaller takes that are stitched together at editing. Personally I think thirty minutes to an hour is the sweet spot for in-depth lore videos like this. Much longer and it becomes a slog that realistically will take multiple sittings to get through, much less and you can't get particularly deep into a topic. (and don't underestimate the "listen to go to sleep" audience, which is larger than you'd think. You've got a good voice and steady delivery for that and 30mins is a good time to allow listeners to drift to sleep.) Great job, keep up the good work.
Thank you for your thoughtful comment. I really was worried about how this type of video would be received, especially with how much of my own lore is in it. So your comment really helped me feel more confident with going forward with more. As for the voiceover stumble, I actually messed up in the edit and missed three stumbles in the final cut of the video. But I recorded the audio over the course of a week in 9 different sessions. The raw audio was almost 2 hours long and it got edited down to roughly 50 minutes. I think I got tired while editing and missed those three stumbles, which is pretty good considering that I learned how to do any type of auditing over the last three months. I agree with you on the thirty minutes to an hour being the sweet spot. I personally started these videos because I when I was working on my Zerg army I wanted something OnePageRules related to listen to while I painted. With my paint sessions being roughly 30 to 60 minutes long. But I hadn't considered the "listen to go to sleep" crowd before. Once again thank you for your kind words and constructive feedback, I am excited to see how you, and the rest of my little community, respond to the next video.
Absolutely fantastic! I highly enjoyed your expanded take on the lore! It helps inspire my own interests in OPR lore, I've especially enjoyed brainstorming how the Ratmen Clans work for example.
@@One_More_Page I find them to be fascinating underdogs. Perhaps one of my bigger realizations was how radical they must be against oppressors. 2 of the 3 hero options functionally have 3 up moral which rivals the battle bros suggesting a strong resolve, while at the same time thier hord units are more likely to run at 5 up. Thier solution is to be commissars with thier Lead from Behind special rule that specifically Commanders take. Basically they are radical vagabonds, rebels, and revolutionaries. And I'll be darned if one of those clans isn't a bunch of pirates. Stalkers as a unit are basically a bording party of sabors and pistols if you want. They have lots of story potential I could ramble on about lol
@@One_More_Page Oh but what I mean is any time any politician tries to send aid to another country, or send soldiers to another country, or make any treaty or anything like that, the goal is always about furthering power of the homeland. Everything else is not just a lie, but a knowing lie of that politician. That's the fun of this method. It's still about power, but in this unique form of sending spiritual and religious aid in the form of... a sort of organic singularity. The gene stealer cults are interesting in a way yes, but this "top-down" approach that fully acknowledges the need to convince the populace too is honestly much more compelling a narrative. I think I have an idea on the sorts of themes Grimdark Future can and should focus on. The way control of information can corrupt even the highest ideals and progress. The best stories I'm seeing in this new lore seem to carry that theme.
Tudo bem! Eu amo o Brasil! Já faz um tempão desde que foi la. There is actually a translation channel on the OPR discord server. You should check them out.
I actually based a lot of this on historical applications of Machiavellian politics and Malcolm Gladwell's tipping point. The way the cult spreads through the upper elites is similar to the process describe by Gladwell. While the slow conversion of the populace into adopting Soul-Snatcher desired change is based on Machiavellian politics. But other than that no allusions.

Switching to long form content, cool. I'm down for it.
Next I am going to switch to longest form videos.
I am really enjoying this. The diary entries are positvely Lovecraftian.
I am glad you enjoyed it. I was inspired by Lovecraft and Mark Z. Danielewski while writing the diary entries. So I am glad that came through.
You should turn these into a podcast! I would love to listen to more! Thanks
Like just upload the audio as a podcast? Or make a podcast and do more of this type of content?
@@One_More_Page just an audio version of the youtube video. I can listen to them while i am at work. When my phone closes the sound stops, lol
Well done!
Thank you, I am still very new to video production so I am very happy with the results
great video! more long-form stuff like this please!
Already working on the next one!
More of this please! Also maybe more expanded stories from previous lore vids you've posted?
That is a good idea! Sounds like I have a lot of editing in my future
Agreed! This has been a fun look into the lore of OPR!
This was perfect. Please do more of these long form videos. It's great to stream while painting.
If you keep painting, I will keep making videos for you to paint to!
I liked the narrative. I think it went well alongside the lore of the process.
I am glad you liked it. I tried really hard to work logically through their process.
I gotta say i LOVE the narrative elements you're adding to the stories, soon as you decide to open a patreon I'll def be subbing!

Super awesome! I like this races lore the best so far.
That sounds like something a Soul-Snatcher Cultist would say. . . . .

I wasn’t expecting it to be this long either. I thought it was going to be around 30 mins. Next thing you know it was almost an hour.
@@One_More_Page as Bob Ross would say " A happy little accident" 😜

All international politics is about power. All of it. These weird think-monsters know that.
But power comes in many forms, which is what makes politics interesting
