STRANGE SETUP! Nice 2007 KONE Ecodisc Elevator and Steps at Texas A & M University LASB Building

(December 2022) Ernesto who is a sociology professor has been moved to a different building on campus and these are the elevators where his office is. Ernesto is my brother in law. I LOVE these KONE Ecodisc elevators. The brakes on these are EPIC!!! Also enjoy as we check out the steps first.

My initial guess is that both Elevators used a Common Wall for the Counter-Weight and the second unit was smaller, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

This is super unusual! I know of a setup that is kinda similat to this. In a collage building in Redmond, there are these two Schindler 330As but they have seperate call buttons but are on the same controller. One of the elevators had a two-speed door, and the other one had a single slide door.

This setup kind of reminds me of my local Hampton Inn which has Newer Otis Series 2/4 with one hospital sized elevator and one normal sized one! When I was there 7 years ago, hospital sized elevator said "How 'Bout Them Apples" while normal sized elevator said "That's How I Roll"

Found a fire alarm fail on the first floor: That recall detector has a dust cover on it. Can't detect like that.

Never seen a different set up on an elevator like that ever!! Its so weird that one is further back than the other one. I bet the big one is likely a service elevator and the other is a regular passenger elevator!!

I also went to a boscove store which is like macys and jcpenny but this one was really cool because they had a really nice kone hydraulic elevator with an epic motor and a schindler with a different motor sound and a sort of space age theme inside the cab which is interesting but I have no idea what brand the freight elevator is because theyre as always very strict about their private staff rooms but whatever.

It's actually similar to that University of Columbia parking garage. Only thing different is that they had the smaller one installed further back probably so both back walls will align properly with the back of the shaft.

I like the cab view because it looks a little vintage style which I like but it runs nice and smooth so that’s good 👍 and I like how the thing talks when going to which floor and tells you where you are. I like that

In my opinion IMO, Schindlers has more bugs especially Asian version of 5500 and 3300. There's was two accident in my city that happened on the Schindlers.
I also rode a lot of EcoDiscs, nothing any trouble when riding the EcoDiscs.

Is this a MiniSpace EcoDiscs? because there's no any control cabinet next to door on the top floor. Or American MonoSpace EcoDiscs has its control cabinet hidden?

Oh and I did find some kone elevators in the area I live but they were modernized hydraulic elevators that havent been changed to an ecodisc which was odd but the motors did have a nice sound to them when moving up

And I think the 2 speed door one is used mostly as a service elevator and the single slide one is just for normal passenger use however if that was the case these would have to have been on seperate controllers and that wouldve made it even more wierd than it already is so lets just say its at the peak of wierdness

Oh yeah I noticed that too the small single slider one is set back further than the other one maybe thats due to the fact that the wall is angled and they wanted the elevators to match the angle

Those breaks sound rather jarring. I've ridden some Kone elevators that have similar breaking sounds and I have always thought something was wrong with them, not in a detrimental way but maybe just something that was probably needing adjusting or something. The stairs are "user friendly" as in they don't look as utilitarian and even uninviting. I like the openness of those. I have been including stairwells in some of my videos for years when they upstage the elevator in beauty or are just as attractive, especially ones in historic buildings, glassed in or open-aired ones. In many cases they do the building justice more then the elevators.
