I used to mostly listen to music from the UK or USA before discovering Dimash. If you’d told me then that my all time favourite singing performance would be from a classically trained singer from Kazakhstan singing in Japanese I wouldn’t have believed you! Thank you Dimash for opening my ears, eyes and heart to other types of music and artists from around the world. ❤❤❤

Yes, yes, YES!! - the closest I can get to expressing it, is to say he turned my whole musical world upside down! This is one of my favourites for sure, but it's actually his performance of «Samaltau» from the last Tokyo Jazz Festival that just wins out for me - a century's old Kazakh folk song, for a woman who hadn't even heard of the country "before"...?! 😆🥰

Yes, Dimash is a master of making silent pauses during the performance, thus attracting even more attention to himself. I think it can't be taught, it won't look natural. It should come from the inner self, from the vision of music and the ability to convey through the voice, body movements, hands, eyes.... and Dimash is flawless in this... my admiration for him and his voice is boundless.....

❗A video, him standing in front of a full length mirror, his coach on a stool beside it, over and over, the compression of one note, louder to a little softer, his palm on his throat, moving one foot, another, changing his stance, shoulders, his head, forward slightly, back slightly, his mouth position, all the time feeling for the right vocal chord movement needed for it. Over and over. ONE note. I'll never forget it.

This is the same melody as Autumn Strong, which Dimash sings in mandarin, slightly different lyrics. At his recent concerts, he has been singing autumn strong for the first half of the song as autumn strong and the second as Ikenaide satisfying us all, Dimash sung autumn strong on the comp I Am Singer China 2017 but my favourite performance of that is from his Kiev concert. He does something different and special at the end of that one. Dimash is precious.

This and SOS ( the Singer 2017 rendition) will always be my favorite Dimash songs. That hum at the end gives me chills every time. Dimash is the quintessential performer. He gets immersed in his songs even before he sings the first note, and remains immersed in it until the last note is finished. He is also the master of pause, like making us wait for that hum, or before he began "Ave Maria", and Love Is Like A Dream. Thank you for reacting to one of my favorite Dimash performances. Have you checked out Adagio, All By Myself, and Unforgettable Day, all From The Singer 2017? Oh yeah, can't forget "The Show Must Go On", and "Autumn Strong".

This version "Ikanaide" (行かないで) ) is the original, from 1989, composed by Koji Tamaki (famous Japanese singer, born in 1958) with lyrics by Goro Matsui. The version "Autumn Strong" (Late Autumn), sung in Chinese, uses the same song, but has another lyrics (Yaqui Cheung, from 1993) and another theme: It talks about the Japanese actress Yoshiko Yamagushi, very dear to the Chinese, who was deported when they discovered her Japanese origin (his real name was Li Xiang Lan and we're talking about World War II, where Japan was China's enemy) and never returned to China. In the original version, the lyrics are more intimate, sentimental and more recognized worldwide. It means: "Please don't go!". ✨LYRICS IN BOTH SONGS

    There’s a historic backstory
    🥺China WWII Japan😢💙
    This older performance of
    Dimash in China’s
    “I’m a singer” competition.
He learned Chinese in a week 🇨🇳
Now he’s learned Japanese and sings the original version for Japan 🇯🇵
The JAZZ FESTIVAL was during LOCKDOWN 😯
This puts his language count at 13 at the time of this recording 💿

I love how he’s blended the
    🇯🇵 & 🇨🇳 songs together
with the warble in the beginning’s, and the vocalizing “Her” at the ending’s 🥺😥
The song writer 🎼 praised Dimash on his getting the “Ah’s” 🎶 so perfectly to what he intended they should convey in each phase👌🎤
    Well It Is Dimash‼️🤣😂💦
I also watched a Japanese reactor comment that the 🇯🇵 language is usually pronounced wrong with a hard consonant sound of most western speakers. He said that it’s different and should be weaker to get it right. He was so impressed with Dimash getting the enunciation correct ❤️🇯🇵
    Well It Is Dimash‼️🤣😂💦

Actually you can teach musical performance, and it's especially important and focused on in the field of musical theater ... because in musical theater you can't just sing a song, but you have to ACT the song in order to get the story of the musical across to the audience. Now some people will go through the motions and try, and some have a more innate ability to do it, but like anything… practice, practice, practice. Anyone can learn to do performance vocals if they take lessons/classes/workshops, to put in the work, to be open to constructive criticism, and to have it in their heart and attitude to be better/good.
