- Watch the full interrogation of Seth Welch, the man who neglected his newborn child by not feeding her. The presence of THC was also found in the newborn child's system. The child died of chronic malnutrition. Their house was also found with vermin, insects, and mold during the investigation. Welch was charged with homicide felony murder in August 2018. In 2020, he was convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Wow I’m barley starting the video and I can’t believe he said it’s time do dust that’s literally insane those parents are absolutely psychotic and out of their minds. There’s so many families that would’ve absolutely loved to have a kid to take care and raise in a happy healthy clean loving him there’s no reason that would make any human in there right mind do that I’m shocked they also found THC in the poor girls system what are they doing giving DRUGS to a helpless baby they were the only one that were supposed to protect them and put their life on the line for her. I’m so flabbergasted by this case it’s absolutely devastating.

Omg. I'm boiling here. My son had failure to thrive at 6 weeks, I was beside myself, they accused me of neglect and I didn't care,, so long as they cured him. Turned out to be a genetic abnormality. They never apologised and again I didn't care, once Danny was alright. At the same time my friend was accused of scalding her daughter in a bath, turned out to be a skin condition. Again, she didn't care what they said, so long as the baby was OK 😢

@@jbignJesusnot giving a baby food is withholding it. They can’t do anything themselves. They can’t even ask for food for awhile. It’s on the parent to feed their kid. Especially early on with newborns, if they’re sleeping too long, you wake them up to feed them.
You weren't listening either. They weren't accused of starving the baby, there was some condition preventing her from getting nutrition from the food she was given but they didn't take her to a doctor so it was never identified and corrected.

There is no getting around it - the parents are responsible. I am only surprised that his parents aren't charged as well. Infants never sleep 16 hours. None of mine did. I was neurotic about sids and checking constantly. If one of them slept even 20 minutes past their normal time I was in there pulling them out of the crib. This scumbag has no right to be a parent. Ever.
I remember the first time I woke up before my daughter did when she was nursing. I woke up in a blind panic and (recovering from a c-section 😱) RAN to her crib to make sure she was still breathing. I cried with relief. F this guy.

I worked for a local TV news station as a cameraman and had to cover this story when it went to court. I covered some absolutely horrendous crime cases in my time in news but this one was easily the most revolting.
This disgusting father doesn’t look like he misses a meal, but yet he starves his poor daughter. I hope somebody gets a hold of him in prison. Poor excuse for a man.
Apparently you weren't listening because he wasn't accused of starving her, the issue was an unknown medical condition that prevented her from absorbing the nutrition from the food she was given. Hence all the talk about not taking her to a doctor.

As a mother this absolutely bothers me to my core. Not only did the parents fail her. So did family and friends. His mom said she looked "skinny." Skinny????? Did she mean frail, sick, intestine outline showing, and her bones????? I think the grandmother, mother and anyone else that saw this little girl and didn't say anything also be charged as accessory. Someone could have saved her. She had nobody to advocate for her 💔 Rest in peace baby girl.

I am infuriated just hearing his excuses for why he let this tiny girl starve to death! My son weighed 9 pounds at birth and by his one year birthday he was 27 pounds. Holding this child must have felt like holding a kitten. How on earth did CPS miss the condition of the baby! Oh I know it’s not all their fault but I want accountability. I’m so tired of hearing about dead kids with terrible parents. I gotta go pray now 🙏
I have a two-year-old and a three-month-old and this baby died weighing less than my newborn did at birth, which was already pretty low. I cannot fathom how you do nothing about a baby so skinny you see her intestines through her stomach. My toddler got sick this summer and lost half a kilo and I was freaking out about it…I just don’t get at all the complete singleminded lack of care that would lead to this baby dying.
If I was a warden, I'd want every inmate in his cellblock to know what he did.

The baby formula has been invented decades ago, or his bizzare believes didn't allow it or what. Why they didn't feed her with that at least.
Unless the mom doesn’t make enough milk. You have to breastfeed every 3 hours to keep production going and eat well yourself. Less times breastfeeding means less milk will be made the next day.
Edit: that is why babies are weighed very often to make sure they are gaining weight steadily, if they are they are put on formula.

Just looking at this guy, I see him sitting on the couch eating burgers, chips,slush,candy,ice cream etc. while the child is STARVING getting nothing at all. Seth is exactly where he belongs.
Kudos to these detectives. My son is a detective and being nice and chatty and friendly to people like this is the hardest part of their jobs… believe me, they really want to lock these sick creeps up and throw away the keys.
Having a premature/small baby myself, I have knots in my stomach hearing the 1 year old was only 8 pounds. All a mom wants is to fatten her little baby up when he/she comes out. It's literally instinct. To not want ur children to be nuorished is so disturbing and evil. It's completely unnatural. These two ppl are truly sick 🤢😢

My daughter was born 1lb 14 oz, was a 24 weeker, dropped under a pound in the hospital shortly after birth, was in intensive care for 4 months and traditional care for another month before she finally came home after over 5 months at a little over 5 pounds.
She was in special high calorie formula because she wasn't able to gain weight well and her specialists and I tracked every calorie in like no one's business. She STILL weighed more than this child at 1 years old. I think only 10 pounds or so, but it's mind boggling that a full term 1 year old child could weigh so little.

Two of my babies were emergency prems and they weighed 9lbs when we left the hospital… I can’t even imagine not feeding them enough. We even bought the high calorie formula (double the price here) when we took them home… wth is with these people?!

Even worse than not wanting to spend the money for a doctor, he stated at the beginning of the interview that "He didn't think much of the medical profession."
He struck me as being "oppositional," where a person is continually opposing anything that comes from another person, but especially someone in "authority." He was obsessed with the medical profession and the government...probably any rule or regulation, limitation, prohibition would have set him off. He may have been opposing or rebelling against the idea that his daughter wasn't healthy if she didn't meet the weight goals on the growth chart that he was ranting against. You notice that even though his own flesh and blood daughter had just died, he was obsessed with the government and the medical profession and how they were out to get him, one way or another.

Oregon just passed a law that even if the mother has hard drugs in her system while pregnant, they will not take the baby away. Liberal states. Tell me about it I live in Michigan & we have been stuck with bitchmer for too many years thanks to the blue cities.

Maybe you’re just one of those types of people that like to refer to women as crazy or hormonal every time the wind blows. It was blind panic because I didn’t know how much time had passed initially and babies that age don’t sleep for more than a few hours at a time because their diets are completely liquid. These parents should have at the very least checked on the baby initially after two hours, and then more frequently to make sure that the baby was OK.

I remember when my kids were small and we were going through a rough time I made sure my babies ate and I did without. You do what you have to do when it comes to your babies. Thankfully we made it past that rough time.

Seriously! Right now it's pretty rough but I make sure the kids have enough food and I'll eat the left overs or a slice of bread. I always tell them I'm done my growing but their bodies need it.. and it's a good way to stay in shape😂

Same here. Things are really difficult for us right now, but I eat like half of what I need for some meals. I always make sure the kids have enough food first. I've lost so much weight in the past year, my ring is falling off now.

He said that he is used to dealing with "dead bodies on the farm". I grew up in a farm, we never said that. We would always say that there were dead animals. His lack of emotion is very strange. I have seen more emotion from a farmer who has lost a calf than from this guy! I don't understand this, I have never seen someone so cold hearted.... and with a precious beautiful baby, his OWN baby!!!!

Omg my oldest child was 3lb 12 Oz at birth and he was 10lbs by 3months. This is disgusting. I cannot believe she wasn't sickly and lathargic. I'm so sorry for this poor baby. Also a mother knows when something is not right with their child it's called mother's intuition.

My niece had horrible digestive issues the moment she was born and we had to put rice in with her bottles of milk because the starch from the rice was so heavy it would keep the milk down. It was miserable. She was hungry all the time and it’s something her mom had to do the first month so she wouldn’t starve and she was still pretty hungry. She would scream so hard and loud it would actually sound like an alien screaming and we gave her the nickname E.T…I cannot even BEGIN to imagine the pain this poor girl when through for months at a time. Her only existence would be pain and suffering. There’s just no way I could feel one ounce of remorse for that mother. She could’ve had 4 full time jobs and I still would remain hyper aware of the fact that her baby likely screamed in pain for months before passing. This is heartbreaking. God bless these detectives for what they have to go through in getting justice for these little ones ❤
I'm literally flinched when I heard Mary was a year old and 8 lb. It's a good thing these people will be "taken care of" in prison. Even criminals have rules.

Why do people believe that these creatures will get what they deserve in prison? Is it because we want justice and believe that no sentence, except maybe the death sentence, is enough punishment? Research has shown that "prison justice" doesn't exists. I wish it did, but we are fooling ourselves. But they will be judged and sentenced by God, of that there is no doubt.

This manipulative, controlling slob starved his baby, yet he clearly never missed a meal. They should both have received the death penalty. The person/persons at cps should be held accountable too. Too many children ‘slip’ through the cps net and end up in the morgue as a result. Vulnerable babies lives are worth more than this.
You best believe whilst he’s in jail/prison the other inmates will steal his tray of food straight away from him. They’ll refuse him food, spit in his food and do god knows what else to his food. There's no way that child was fed 2 meals per day. She was barely surviving until she died of starvation, perhaps only one bottle or a jar of baby food per day. The parents ate enough food themselves, what on earth caused them to deny basic food to their infant child??? The lack of remorse or accountability is astounding.

Interrogators are impressive. The ambience is so casual like nothing is wrong, jovial, making a few bad jokes, etc and all the time Welch is spilling out the lies of a seemingly normal day digging a massive hole for himself.

I'd be sure to find a good feeding tube or a garden hose and show him how it feels to get the wrong food/liquid, and what a schedule of eating is. It's called "bolus" feeding.
A year old 8lbs? And it is always upsetting when you hear a child starving and the parent is obese. Myself as a mother I don't eat before my children. It's just ingrained in me my children eat first. I don't even buy myself treats because I feel guilty
