A New Zealander here. I am nursing my partner who has terminal bladder cancer diagnosed (he is 80) just 4=weeks ago. My garden is my sanity at this time and I hope your journey continues to good health. 5 weeks ago he was building a workshop with an attached shade house potting shed for me .😊
Good to hear a fellow North Easterner! Just taken over an allotment and theres loads to do. The rainy weather has been frustrating to say the least! Enjoying your episodes thanks.
Glad to see you nearly back to full strength, missed not seeing you, I don’t mind you showing the same things, as it’s your personality that we all love, hope you get you wheel sorted, as a barrow is a god send, for gentleman of our age 😉
Awww Tony...we spent y'day on plot putting potatoes in..hoeing off weeds and generally prepping for season...We picked some rhubarb that was ready...stewed it and had it with ice cream after tea...it was sooooo lovely...enjoy yours tonight...❤x
I agree with other comments regarding a solid wheel for your barrow Tony. I've had one for five years. Someone gave me a plastic four wheeled barrow but find it harder to use. Give me a traditional wheelbarrow any day.
Hey Tony, don’t panic with you chillies. They’ll be fine by the time you are ready to plant out into their final position. I sowed mine beginning of Jan and are like JB’s and I’ve had to put heat on in my greenhouse to plant them out as they had outgrown their pots. Tomatoes are out too and flowering. Not bragging, just pointing out that sometimes things go too well and cause other problems. Sometimes we are too keen to be on. Happy gardening.
After replacing two wheels on a wheelbarrow, because of punctures, I took the plunge and bought a solid (yellow) wheel for around £20, 3 years ago. Still going strong and very little difference in performance to the blow up type
Superhots like Bhut Jolokia grow really really slowly. They need lots of heat. If you can I would keep them on a warm sunny windowsill inside so they get the consistent warm overnight temperature.
Mine were similar last year , they did take off, but actually did not flower. Managed to overwinter one so I am starting this year with a 3 ft bhut jolia that is already raring to go.
Good to see you back after a while. I love watching your videos. I am trying to rebuild my enthusiasm. My dad passed away a couple of weeks ago and I just can’t seem to be bothered 😢I know i should get stuff going as it will make me happy, but just not feeling it 😢
Sending you Huge (((((((((((HUGS))))))))) I Am So Sorry For Your Loss. When My Dad Passed Away I Wrote Him A Letter, In The Hope He Would See It. You Will Get There, 1 Day You Will Smile When Think Oh My Dad Would Love That. ❤❤❤❤
I've had terrible trouble with peppers too, but also twice I sown beetroot but nope nothing so I sown them yesterday outside with icicle radish. I've re-sown peppers just to see.. I've red baron and Stuttgart to go in now too. Happy Easter, Tony!
Personally I like seeing you on my video feed. Missed your videos. Doesn't matter to me if it's almost a repetition , it's the touching base hello I enjoy.
Tony I bet that compost was outside and got wet! I got my 2nd lot of compost from same place as I had the 1st lot. 1st lot I managed all on my own used a shopping trolley type but 2nd lot I couldn't even pick of the pile, when I managed to slide 1 off on a flat bed trolley right under so it would fall on and was a comedy moment 😂🙈. Had to ask for help (idiots sent a woman and I wouldn't let her do it as far too bloody heavy) Health /back is vital as if we can't look after our plants mate who will hey. Take care of yourself
Been looking out for your videos, any content from you is a bonus in my opinion, always learning and you never fail to entertain! I’ll bet those peppers have some decent roots underneath but I think you answered your own question with heat and light, for the first time this year I’ve used some fairly cheap grow lights supplementary to our indoor south facing patio window just to stop them reaching for the light, and I’m honestly made up up with the results. Hope you’re feeling well, keep living your best life 💪
Hi Tony hoping our chillies make it mine were stunted the same as yours but I repotted into John Innes from silvagrow recently and they started growing again. Fingers crossed. Grown in same conditions window light heat mat as last year too. Ive got that ornamental grass in the ground its always throwing off other clumps which Ive binned but will add to some bald pots I have. Great advice.
Reckon your chillis will be just fine. They are growing and now we have warmer temperatures and more light they should catch right back up. Mine are closer to JB’s (started at end of Jan), but my wife complains they get more love than her 😂
Hi Tony i have followwd you, Jessie and JB. Used Silvergrow forthe first rime this year. my cucumbers have 5" fruts on and i have taken 2 lots of dlowers off of the chilles that look great ready ro go as soon as the frost go
Hey Tony you went through a big trauma last year , you can’t expect to be completely back to pre op condition. I have to say though I’m going to be 76 in May , I’m struggling more this year but the constant rain here in Cornwall hasn’t helped either . Like the plants if we get some warm sunny days we’ll all start blooming. ❤️
i wouldnt worry about the pepper size, i live in west part of Norway and love growing all sorts of peppers, i have 2 weeks less in both ends compared to you, i start my peppers indoors late feb / early mars.
I know you love your gadgets 😂 so get yourself a garden shredder, mine makes light work of brassica stalks, along with all other prunings and dead stalks ... compost heap loves it!
My chilli/pepper plants are not much further on than yours sown mid jan those bhut jolika are slow growing warmth loving plants my chillis are in a south facing window inside peppers are inside a diy cold frame in my greenhouse unheated but im south of bristol plenty of season for them to fly yet
Tony,, is the horse bedding organic?? If not it could contain the amino pyrolid that farmers use to kill weeds in barley etc,, check out Charles Dowding's video on the subject,, I used straw, to mulch the potatoes, from a local merchant and all the tops of the potatoes wilted and died
looks nice Tony, instead of a wheelbarrow get a cart with tipping loader, sorry can't think of the proper words right now..I got mine from Amazon NL Güde is the brand, I'm sure there's other brands, they come in different sized and capacity. you have 4 big tires and only need to pull it, cos the wheelbarrow, esp metal ones are also heavy and you need to lift them to move them. I think JB said Sylvagrow has less nutrients, so you need to start feeding it sooner. and it's funny how we pamper our crops, esp potatoes where as I forgot some in the ground last year and they're already coming up, frost or no frost. Last year today we got snow in the Netherlands and well it's all weird now. Happy Easter. maybe if there's a waiting list see if someone on the waitinglist for an allotment might want to help you out this year, share or divide the crops or give them a bed or two to start learning
I just cannot grow aubergines. I’ve planted them in the greenhouse 2 years running, and all I’ve grown is lots of leaves and the flowers, which drop off. No aubergine. I’ve planted 3 at a time and tickled with a feather to try and transfer pollens etc. Why no aubergines???
My bhut jaloccia only germinated 1 plant and its the same size as yours, alices dream only 1 too so I'm pandering to that one 🤦♀️, very poor germination on certain seeds, most odd 🤷♀️

Good to hear your voice. The garden is looking good. I’m curious, how long have you had your Garden Allotment?
Wondered where you've been. just thought yesterday had no videos from Tony for a while
Best compost you can use is Westland mult purpose you want to try it

I worked in a factory before college, They used to say "It's not the machine, it's the operator." You'll be fine. Take care.
